Christian Eriksen | Signs for Inter

Eriksen seemed to have a poor last few months of the season from what I saw. I just presumed it was down to him having decided to leave.

He plays a lot of matches and Spurs' style is very, very physical.

Christian Eriksen will be in high demand this summer, and that’s a scary prospect for Tottenham. His uniquely brilliant play is a fundamental part of the team’s best performances. This season, he continued to show his skill as a playmaker, receiving the ball around midfield and progressing it, either himself or through passes and movement, before finding incisive passes to Spurs’ forwards that unlocked defenses and created impressive goalscoring opportunities. Look no further than his 12 Premier League assists this season, third-best in the league, for evidence that Eriksen continues to be a key part of Tottenham’s offensive game. Some other ways of describing Eriksen’s playmaking qualities: WhoScored records him making 2.1 key passes per 90 in the Premier League this season, eighth best of every player in the league, and among top-six teams, only David Silva, Willian, and Eden Hazard made more. In the Champions League, Eriksen was equally excellent: only Kylian Mbappe and Jordi Alba beat Eriksen’s four assists. Moving away from numbers, though, Eriksen looked consistent and elite in yet another season. He started every single game for Spurs since January 30, and during that time, his performances fluctuated from reassuringly competent to impressively brilliant. He rarely makes a serious mistake. He scored some crucial goals for Spurs this year, including a late winner against Inter to keep Spurs’ Champions League dreams alive.

I reckon this is another one of those little leaks Woody likes to do as if to say to the fans “look we tried but that cnut Levy just wouldn’t sell to us” knowing full well that cnut levy would never of sold to us. If (and that’s an if bigger than Maguires head) it was to happen I’d be well chuffed, great player but I ain’t getting invested cause it ain’t happening.

They want to wait for him to wait out his contract .. why offer 50-60 mill when potentially they can get him for a free next summer?

All of the elite clubs will be in for him on a free.

I mean I can't rule out each elite club individually, I assume quite a few of them will be in for him (most PL elites, PSG?), but speaking specifically to RM, Juve, I doubt they'll be in for him. Maybe Barca will be, but depends on how this season goes as well.

Just because someone's a good player doesn't mean a club *has* to try to buy him when they're available, squad balance matters too.

What's the thought where Eriksen would line up? #10 with Pogz and McT behind? He's quite a talisman this Eriksen, also got a great set piece delivery. I'd prefer him to Dybala actually based on what I've seen.

This is just Ed making some last minute noise to get the fans on his side but knowing full well we won’t have the slightest of chance acquiring him.

Eriksen would be a terrific signing. It’s not going to happen though.

Id like to see how that would go.

Levy - "we want you to bid for Eriksen"

Woody - "Ok, £10m"

Levy - "we will only accept £80M"

Woody - "£8M"
This is EXACTLY what Inter tried to do to me on FM when I wanted to sell Lukaku. fecking €8m bid. I was seething.

According to reports Levy might be wiling to sell Eriksen to us (though there are conflicting reports about that).
I hope it s not a trick and he pulls the plug at the last minute in order for us not to have enough time to sign an alternative (evermore knowing we negotiate one deal at a time..)

Signing a guy like Eriksen will pretty much end the arguments over Pogba's position. He will have to play a deeper midfield role, and if Ole has managed to convince him of that necessity he has truly worked the oracle. Either that or he is leaving and the links with players like Eriksen and Fernandes are a sign of Utd preparing through securing a more traditional attacking midfielder as a replacement. He would certainly give Utd the set piece delivery we currently lack, a large part in exploiting the aerial power of Maguire.

The big question is: what is Xisimon saying about this?!

Pogba has been playing deep all pre season to be fair

Coutinho will be better than Eriksen. Can play anywhere behind the striker and has goals in him.
Yeah right. Massively overrated one trick pony. He's good, don't get me wrong but your assessment that he would be better than Eriksen doesn't stack up. All you have to do is look at their stats for proof. Both the same age but Eriksen has performed better and more consistent all his career. What little analysis you gave is exactly why nobody should listen to you.

Any success we hope to have this season will rest on him accepting that role, the team and his teammates need him to give the side control and security from the middle of the park.

Keane, Giggs, Scholes, they all had to sacrifice some tactical freedom for the good of the team, to allow others to excel, that is a part of leadership, our best player should not be a problem we have to solve.

His stats are consistent pretty much every season, to be fair to him.

Were we to get him we could be looking at about 20 goals and 25-30 assists in a season between him and Pogba.
Not just that, as he added maturity to his game he started doing things like controlling tempo and recycling possession when it needs to happen.

He's a consistent 7/10 player with a few world class performances in between.

He is currently in his physical prime, albeit with a lot of miles on him, but you could see him dictating play from a deeper position once he was 30+ too. Gah, I'm getting sucked into this one, I've always seen him as a United style player right from when he was a youngster. I don't have any faith in this deal happening though.

"Close".
In the same way di marzio reckoned we were close to bruno a few weeks back

It looks like Pogba will be playing deeper this season regardless. He is also extremely likely to leave at some point anyway, if not this summer then next.

We are going to get 75 million euro for Lukaku. We still have money left from the last window. Another big signing is coming and Erickson is THE favorite. I was damn sure about AWB, Maguire (and even quoted the price:)), I bet we are signing Ericksen. Both Fernandes and Dybala rumors died at the same moment, right before Ericksen rumors started to gain momentum. Last day transfers: we get cash for Lukaku and wire it to Spurs, Spurs wire 5he money to Sporting. Paperwork is already underway. Inters 75 million euro is going to buy 3 players for three clubs on the last day:D

Looks like a consistent season overall. Had the impression he didn't finish the season strong, but assumed it was due to him checking out at Spurs.

He never really played in a central position at spurs either. He plays there for the national team and looks even better.
