Christian Eriksen | Signs for Inter

But that is exactly what the article is saying. We might be the only club that has the money to buy him at the moment. Putting us front of the queue and leaving Levy with little option.
Ultimately, I reckon he will end up elsewhere.
If push comes to shove, we won't be. I don't believe the Mail. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it doesn't seem logical.

It would be silly though considering Eriksen is attacking mid and we don't want one. If anything we should be breaking bank for CM and push Pogba higher up the pitch.

Eriksen and Pogba can both play #8 and #10, both can score, assist, create chances and control tempo. Pogba is faster, a better dribbler and better header of the ball - hence overall a better player. But Eriksen is a high calibre set piece specialist which we also need, the would complement each other perfectly.

Last season, opposition just needed to man mark Pogba for us to become unable to create anything. With Pogba and Eriksen simultaneously, it wouldn’t work any more.

I think if we are indeed the only team that can afford him, Eriksen himself will wait till next summer when he has his pick of clubs.
Would have been far more optimistic if we had CL football.

So? It still happened last season. Right now we're much better placed to do something in Europe than you are as a club, and bigger favourites to keep getting European football. It's still up in the air whether you'll even manage top 4 next season, let alone be getting to the final of such competitions.

And we finished 3rd in 17/18, 2nd not long before that too. The instability of United is one of the major reasons I don't think Eriksen would be remotely interested in you. There's no guarantee whatsoever you're going to be in fit shape to challenge for major titles soon, you're so far behind City and Liverpool it'll take years to get back there. Eriksen is getting on now, his next club has to be a careful choice and will likely be one where he's got stability and almost a guarantee of major titles. Hence why I wouldn't be surprised if he chose a Juve or PSG, though I think his heart lies with one of the Spanish giants.

But anyway, I'm done with this discussion .. it's United fans chest beating about how much a Spurs player would want to join them for the millionth time and it's a little bit boring. We'll wait and see how this summer transfer window goes but I'm pretty certain Eriksen will either still be a Spurs player at the end of the window, or will be playing abroad.

Yeah, it's up in the air whether ManUtd gets top 4 next season but Spurs are guaranteed when they finished with grand total of 1 point above 5th position team.

Obviously he can stay at Spurs, win feck all and end up his playing career with "played in CL" in his CV.

re bold part  Talk about irony.

Couldn't care less where he ends up. It's not like he will be an massive improvement on what we have and he will create more problems than solving any we have.

People forget Eriksen played a lot of last season in midfield as a CM. See no reason why we wouldn't want him.

Wow he dressed differently

He didn't miss training without permission, Ole gave him permission to join late.

Clubs who can afford him, so obvious I wasn't talking about clubs like Spurs. How many clubs can afford Pogba? Madrid, Barca, PSG, Juventus and all of them will pay him shit loads in wages.

Where did I say Spurs could afford him? Cheap shot, your better than that.

I don't agree they would offer him a shit load more than £350K a week.

Pogba as a 8 will end in disaster, unless we sign very mobile DM. Signing Eriksen will be a square peg in round hole. Too good player to drop and not good enough to improve the team.

Signing proper RW or a CM will improve us more than signing Eriksen.

They offered more than that to Higuain. How much they have offered to De Ligt?

Also it's not a cheap shot. It was obvious I was talking about clubs who can afford him.

1) signing Eriksen has nothing to do whatsoever with signing a RW/RF. Those are different tasks, both needs to be addressed

2) signing Eriksen = signing a CM. We will play Pogba-Eriksen-[NAME] in midfield if he joins. City plays Silva-KDB/Bernardo-Fernandinho in midfield and it works relatively well I would have thought. Pogba-Eriksen is perhaps even better than Silva-KDB/Bernardo

Agreed it is more important to sign the right players for the right positions. I rate Eriksen highly but I don't think he is what we need without addressing the other needs first.

He'd play number 10 with Pogba in a deeper role. I wouldn't be against this.

City can play KdB-Silva in the midfield because of Pep's tactics. They control the game completely. They won't be playing CMs under any other manager.

Pogba - Eriksen midfield will end in tears, especially with Matic as DM.

Why do people keep saying this? We're hardly the only club that would try and sign him. Levy would sell to anyone else if he had the option. Your post depends on us being the only club in for him, or Eriksen having his heart set on joining us.

Well the end result is the same. If it’s us, Madrid or Barce offering £70m they would accept.

I don’t think anybody is in for him at the moment hence United offering £70m could be Spurs only option.

Whats the best formation with Eriksen and Pogba? Is there even a good one? Either of them would have play too defensivly.

De Light is on around £200-250k a week according to reports in the Sun, Mail and Football 365.

I cant see anything on Higuain.

Silly season is picking up! Suddenly we're being linked to purchases of: Sean Longstaff, Harry Maguire, Nicolas Pepe, Bruno Fernandes, Sergej Milinković-Savić and now Christian Eriksen. Some of these might just be made up

Except it wouldn’t be equal prices.

Levy sold Modric at a much more cut rate price to Real Madrid to keep him out of Chelsea.

Hey if you think you’re closer to winning the league or the CL than Spurs that’s cool. I don’t.

Spurs still dreaming of 1960/61 - their last and second PL win.

I cant see anything on Higuain.

Higuain is on 9.5 million net. De Ligt with bonuses earn 14 million net as per Italian Reports

I don't see anything here. Its just a ploy to force Sporting to bring their price down.

Liverpool haven't won a league in a long time either, certainly a very long time compared to United.

Does that mean United are more likely to win a league than Liverpool, looking at the current state of the teams?

Here’s the thing. I’m not acting like Spurs are the be all end all.

It’s just no one has yet to make an argument on why or how United are in a better position than Spurs to win a major honour.

The only thing I’ve seen so far is the classic trope “you haven’t won a trophy” which isn’t really the argument.

Can anyone explain to me how United are in a better position for the league or CL than Spurs because I don’t think Eriksen gives a toss about a league cup or winning the Europa League.

Is "get lost" the same as disappear? :D

Basically yeah. Just goes missing and doesn't see the ball in areas where he can have a proper impact.

You'll see the odd lovely ball from deep but he just can't influence the game enough when he's playing CM, at least in my opinion.

Eriksen seems to have been dropping deeper anyway lately. I'm curious if the Spurs fans think he would be good deeper in midfield controlling the tempo of the game? Because that is what we need most in midfield to allow Pogba to go further ahead. Not saying this would even happen though.

That means Higuain is on 183K a week net, currently Pogba's basic rate after tax is around £160K a week

If de Ligt includes bonuses its hard to compare surely as we don't know what Pogba's bonuses are?

Im not seeing shit loads more, its hard to know what the bonuses are etc. But as you say Pogba is due a pay rise in his next contract.

I don't see this dropping deeper, in most games last season we had 2 of Sissoko, Dier, Skipp, Winks, Dembele in midfield, he isn't physical enough to impose himself on the game. Yes he gets about the pitch and presses well but doesn't really enjoy a tackle.

The honest answer we have a talented squad of players that we've added to already this window but we can't keep consistency so in short we're not.

Carrick was a great cm, very tidy and good at his role, but 'on a different level to Eriksen' ??

It's just not true, at all.

I love to know what Eriksen has actually done to be revered as such a great player?

I'm not saying (or at least I wasn't trying to say) that Carrick was levels above. I was merely stating my opinion that I think Carrick was a better player than Eriksen.

I do think Eriksen is a good player, but he's not a player United should be breaking the bank for. I'm far from Pogbas biggest fan, but if we where to replace Pogba with Eriksen, I would be hugely underwhelmed.

If 70m is available to sign a player, we need a RW, CB and DM first. Not an attacking midfielder.

We're talking about Tottenham here and your chances aren't that great either as you always seem to bottle it.

Pogba wages are including all the bonuses. His basic pay is 150k per week and that's before tax. It's reported by Football leaks.

Hopefully you are aware of gross and net wages. Higuain earns 183k after tax whereas Pogba earns 290k per week including all bonuses and before tax.

Also Higuain was offered those wages in 2016. Pogba will earn shit loads more than that if he moves to Juve.

For a club and player that won feck all, that's a ridiculous position to take.

Probably because I only really watch Spurs big games. Like against Ajax I think he became part of the 2 in midfield at one point.

That was more due to us having virtually no midfield - he can do a job there but he is much better higher up the pitch.

If there is even a shred of truth in it, i'd happily pay 70-80-90 million for Eriksen.

I feel genuinely sorry for matic in this scenario.
