Christian Eriksen | Man Utd player

Why does he have a duty to tell Brentford anything? He was out of contract and didn't owe Brentford anything. It was a mutual working arrangement where both parties benefited.
If your wife divorces you, it was also a mutual agreement to marry where both benefited but I suppose it would be nice not to learn of it from the lawyer.

He wasn't obliged to do it, but some decency wouldn't have hurt anyone

Could be some legal stuff that didn't allow him to tell Brentford before he actually signed for us and it was announced, stock price ect.

On the flip-side, all he needs to say is Brentford will always have a special place in his heart.

Mad when you put it like this. There were people on this place still talking about JLingz’s ‘potential’ just this time last year, shows what a travesty investing on his career has been for us.
Just found it interesting that Eriksen was being talked about as an old player but our Lingard is a bit of a Peter Pan.

Brentford fans expect high so they are in massive disappointment that their high expectation is not fullfiled and start pointing blames without knowing what the detail of behind the scenes. They are punching above their ceilling height.

Well. Didn't take long for Brentford fans to fall from grace into one of those bitter fans. Blud you have it easy. We had to deal with Pogba for 6 years. Shut up and move on, don't be such pricks, he doesn't owe you anything.

And we only aren't champions because there were five better teams
Say what you want but I just don't think they're all that. Having Eriksen for six months added that bit of quality they didn't have, now he's gone it's going to be very difficult to replace.

Because he said he would tell us his decision first if you say you are going to do that then keep to your word that’s all.

i get that.. but he for sure bought your team up a level when he signed. He was brilliant for you. I know one player doesn’t keep a whole team up.. but he helped.

Do you know for sure he didn’t communicate? Or is it just hear say? He didn’t have to do anything anyway, he was out of contract and a free agent. I’m sure he did what felt right for him and his family.

Unfortunately the info comes from the very top of our club so it’s not just hearsay. As I said above he had promised to let us know his decision first and didn’t which leaves a bit of a bad taste. No doubt £10m and £200k is best for him and his family and joining one of the biggest clubs in the world to boot - that’s not the issue here. It’s how he handled the communication of the move and didn’t keep his word. Had he told us upfront like he said he would there would be zero issue.

It's all very precious. He said that it would be unlikely.

It is what it is - he said he’d tell us and he didn’t. Some people take people at their word, obviously you don’t have a problem with people giving you their word and not keeping it and fair enough. Don’t see it as being that precious myself but also I don’t have a massive problem with what he did, I just lot a bit of respect for him.

And then there was Peter Schmeichel, but he was also only here for about 10 years, and was here when we won the treble in 1999 ... :)
I was assuming that everyone knew about him that's why I said 'not only 1'

Splitting hairs really, isn't it? Saying it's unlikely is a pretty good indicator of what his final decision will be. The Brentford hierarchy must have also known they were at a disadvantage going head to head with Man Utd.

Thomas Frank has form for flying off the handle when it concerns Man Utd.

No idea, but I assume he could've told them he's not coming back without mentioning who he's signing for
Ye, maybe he could have. Maybe he did call Thomas Frank and told him but as a private call between the two, who knows.

This is going to be terrific signing for us. He is such a classy player. Instantly makes everyone around him better.

Side note, where is the brentford fan on here who told me that they would get him over us? No disrespect to brentford but ManUtd is still ManUtd.

Spot on - we aren’t lunatics like Leeds fans or something

Perhaps it’s a realisation that he didn’t gave a shite about your club? Or perhaps it wasn’t as deep as fans would like to think. Abit like the United fans and Ronaldo as i always thought Ronaldo never had the same amount of affection as the fans have for him

His presence alone in the dressing room will be massive. This is the one aspect of the squad that really needed to be looked at. We need moe “leaders”. Maguire doesn’t count,

Some see Erikssen as a back-up for Bruno. But I am not sure, who is the best of the 2 players. In any case, we finally have a player in the squad who can be dangerous on a free kick, just as he is also quite good at taking penalty kicks.
