Not extending his contract is probably right decision. He's 33 and at this point better as an option for European games and unless we win Europa we won't even play European football next season so doesn't make much sense to keep Eriksen. Even in league he can have some terrific performances and assists but given his age it seems he can't cope physically anymore.

Definitely odd. Was happy when he was brought in as I thought he was planned to be an option for Bruno so he could get a rest from time to time. When he turned a regular as CM, I was pretty negatively suprised. He seems a good guy, hope he'll find something for a few years.
 
I can see him still being class for a season in Italy or Spain, maybe for a Europa- or Conference League-level team like Fiorentina or Villarreal. As for the rest of this season, our remaining fixtures don't have that many easy-to-beat teams that we'll be dominant against, outside of the Wolves game. I won't be surprised if we've seen his last start for the club, unless Amorim heavily rotates prior to Europa League ties.

Both things can be true. It's right for him to go now but showed his quality when we first got him, up to his injury. And would have been someone of invaluable quality had we got him say 10 years ago.

He can't play in Italy because of the heart thing, that's why he had to leave Inter

Eriksen is actually a very good example of a player who wasted his prime years by joining Spurs after leaving Ajax. He never reached the levels of Modric, Kane or Bale so that the big clubs actually put enough money on the the table that would convince Spurs to sell, yet he was definitely putting in performances where he would not have looked out of place in a side that was fighting for trophies anywhere in Europe.

A cautionary tale for young players who one day want to join the truly elite teams - and this is not to say that Eriksen didn’t have a good career or that Spurs are not a big team.
 
Real wanted him, as did we a couple of times, but Levy was demanding unfarthomable fees, assuring that he stayed at Spurs for too long.

Yes. Except for the terrible corner which evaded every single united man in added time and that last minute shot (???) he took or was it a cross or a punt to the stands, don't think he even fecking knows.
 
Poor signing. Need to move on from. Looking back now, him and Casemiro were terrible direction for club to take.

We got him for a free and there were plenty of times he added strong value. He was actually a very astute signing.
 
Genuinely won't remember much about him when he leaves. Even the games he played well in, he was gassed after 45 minutes.

Need to stop signing players who are physically finished. Their odd piece of brilliance isn't worth it
 
He's got 7 G/A in 11 cup games (Europa and 2 domestic cups) this season. 0 goals and 1 assist in league. So cup competitions definitely a reason why he's still been useful at times. Obviously won't be here beyond May but happy we've had him over last 3 years even with that injury keeping him out for long.

Three years I can’t think of many big performances in that time. Him and Casemiro quickly became players needed to move on but given we have moved on lots our options now depleted and Eriksen is one of them still. Poor approach. I think people put too much emphasis on like rather than performance. I like Eriksen, wish him well. But I squirm when he’s picked. I like Eriksen. I would be gutted if we adopt same approach to signing in summer.

Start of 22/23 he was great + even since the bad injury he is one of the few players we have who always looks for the pass and not just the shot, like the chip for Amad's goal versus Soton. We obviously got him too late but no reason we can't reflect positively on his time here, he created a lot of goals and is one of the few actually good technical players we have. Free transfer, average wages, good role model, 2 cups in his time here and plenty of assists with a few goals.

Was very good in his first whole season, then the tactical change in play for the second season never suited him. Despite that he had some sporadic strong cameos in between.

I think he was good for most part of first season but a shadow of player he was at Spurs. Beyond that he becomes problem similar to Casemiro. A number in squad, money out of club and decline to point where he ideally won’t play.

So for me, together with Casemiro, not good signing and hopefully not a model to follow.

It definitely wasn't the whole first season. He was mostly good up until the end of January (although even before that he'd struggled quite a few times in high intensity games), but he's never been the same since Andy Carroll subbed on quite blatantly with the intention of injuring someone.

There's still been the odd game here and there where he looked good, but the 'tackle' from that prick effectively ended Eriksen at the top level.
