Genuinely poor yesterday. We often praise his creativity, but yesterday he was just a slow plodding midfielder who looked about 59 years old. The problem is our CM alternatives aren't usually better than him on his poor days.

A very poor performance. However, the lack of movement from our attackers didn't help at all. It was a diabolical performance from the entire team. Some people criticized him for hiding, I disagreed - he never hid. He just wasn't influential at all. I was counting on him to pick out some good passes, but he looked out of ideas about what to do.

A good squad player for depth at this point in his career, but certainly not reliable to carry a meaningful league or CL run next year though.

True. He is leagues better than the other alternatives we have right now but we desperately need to upgrade.
Eriksen is a fantastic squad option to have and can cover for both Bruno and a new CM signing. But he shouldnt be in the first eleven.

It absolutely kills us that not a single midfielder in our squad can dribble a fecking ball. Bruno, Eriksen, Casemiro is as bad of a dribbling midfield 3 as you'll ever find.
I have been on this train since ETH first introduced this midfield. We’re very lightweight, with no agility, dribbling and ball shielding capacity.

We can't pinpoint or pull down one player, it's a collective and it's seeping through the team like a bad virus.

He hasn't been great lately but what is he to do? The only movement up top lately is Antony who can't hit a barn door.

Yes, it's a colective issue that we have, but we really need 2 lung bursting midfielders this summer. We don't have a midfield with the stamina to keep going and fighting for the full 90 + minutes.
Casemiro and Eriksen fade away in second half of games. We need young legs and this is where we are losing out in games.

He’s a decent squad player on a free who we’ve had to rely on more as we failed to get our midfield target last summer. Typical stuff from us under these incompetent owners.

Eriksen did not fade away yesterday. He was sub par from about 20 minutes into the game. He has so much technique that he can disguise most of his misgivings but a neat pass here and there does not make a good game. He did make interceptions and a block yesterday. Nice, but that is not what he is called on the pitch to do. His job is to control the pace and play penetrating passes. Yesterday was a terrible game for him. Eriksen is absolutely useless unless the attacking players makes the right runs. Apart from the first 20 or so minutes noone did. Case and Eriksen and sometimes Shaw had to stop and play the ball sidewards or back. Why the feck is noone moving?

Agreed. There's little for him to do with no viable targets in the box, which is made harder with when Martial and WW are playing. If Rashford was upfront, it would be easier for Ericksen to get the into the box and actually have someone do something with it.

As good as Bruno has been (and I think he's been fantastic this year), it's his biggest weakness as a player and it hurts us in certain areas. He's a terrible dribbler, which means that we have to find a deeper player that can fill that role. But that's not an easy profile to find in modern football. Ironically a fit Pogba is the ideal player for it if I'm honest.

He's the new version of Juan Mata: really clever player, can unlock defenses with a lethal pass, but just not ticking all the boxes. He's not a dominant player and needs some water carriers around him to do the dirty work and create space for him. I like Eriksen and think we're better with him in the team, but I also felt the same way about Mata.

Lots of things are going wrong at the moment. Eriksen ( and Bruno) misses an in form Casemiro to do more of the dirty work and Martinez to up the tempo playing out from defense. These are the things that gives him that extra split second on the ball. He also misses Rashfords runs as CF, Luke Shaws overlaps on the left and a player like Garnacho who runs deep. Right now his options are extremely limited making it easy for the opposition to cover his passing lines. Right now he is robbed of his strengths and left to do a lot of defensive work. That will never work. Fred and Sabitzer are way better at that.

Man Utd 2:0 Wolves
Slow, weak and undecisive with his passing.

Fred did much more in 10 minutes than he did in 80 minutes.

Not sure what he offers to the team anymore, has he won a single challenge or tackle? His passing is meant to be his strength but he just doesn’t offer us enough to compensate for his weaknesses.

His defensive stats are comically bad. But he shouldn’t ever be asked to be a consistent starter. It’s why we need midfielders badly this summer. Eriksen ideally is a sub piece that plays against lesser sides occasionally and is a nice piece to help control games

Hes in poor form but pre injury he was one of the top assisters in the league. Personally I think hes too weak to play in our midfield as a regular starter

Painfully need an upgrade on him.
His tackling is so weak.

He's fading incredibly badly in the second half of games. Maybe it even starts earlier than that. It's a big problem, you need players to at least make 60 mins.

Quite mental this thread is so quiet again. He's just absolutely not good enough. Can't win the ball, is weak as piss in every challenge, passes back a lot because he can't play the game in tempo. Not talking about his nonexistent dribbling skills and that he's generally gassed after 20 minutes.

We are fecked if Ten Haag thinks he should play this many games. He was a great bargain but probably even worse than Matic who hempered our play after his purple patch for the next 2 seasons being always in contention. He should just be an option for the last 15 minutes if we are chasing the goal but he can't control the play as he just can't escape press very well with no dribbling ability like Ten Haag wishes and his ball playing ability is extremely overstated. He showed big fat Zero in the last 10 games in that regard too.

I am sure ETH will feck up again playing him in the FA cup final too like he did against Sevilla, instead of a truly big game player Fred.

Hasn't bounced back from injury well at all, would like to see him rotated with another next season.

Not sure I've ever seen Eriksen win a 50/50 - even in his best games

He’s been a great addition but he’s got nothing about him physically now and should be our second choice 8 next season.

It sticks out like a sore thump when he isn’t playing well overall. There was this one moment where he shirked a challenge and the opponent went in full bloodied and things like allow the team to be pushed back and bullied. I really wish he wouldn’t be so 3rd gear when it comes to competing off the ball.

Like someone said - it is the new Juan Mata thread. Eriksen is a lovely guy with half decent technical ability. Nobody really wants to shit on him even when he’s not good enough
