Chido Obi Martin

He joined Copenhagen at 14

Sorry got the ages wrong, the source I read said he was released from their youth and I saw he made his debut for Copenhagen at 17 so assumed it was 16 but it makes it even more significant if he was that young, anyway this is the Obi Martin thread so back on topic I think it will be interesting to see if he is named in the squad for tomorrow

Found it interesting that the journos asked about Heaven and Dorgu potential involvement against Leicester but not about him

Probably means no chance of involvement tomorrow
Probably depends on how he has done during the first team training sessions. I think that would be the barometer Amorim would use to gauge when to give him minutes. No matter how crap the senior options are during games it would not make much sense to push him to play now if he is struggling even more than them in training.

I don't think we will see good contribution from him until next season when he would have added half a year of late teenage growth and also benefitted from a senior preseason. He is going to be a unit with decent pace and finishing as well as good link up play.

Only looking for him to just get a few cameos, feel like he is capable of giving us that until we can get a striker in the summer to replace Hojlund/Zirkzee

Impressive. 23 pages and he’s played less than 15 times for our youth teams. As @Gungerz said it feels like it’s the same discussion going round and round.

I theory I agree, but given how our fans think they will expect Chido to light the stadium on fire and he is not at that stage yet. He is very very raw.
They don't think that. The one set of players who always get plenty of leeway is academy players at least in the initial years. Nobody is going to slate a 17 year old for not scoring 10 goals off the bench but at least it would be progress if he did show promise and scored a few. Then we have something to build upon.

To be honest with the cup still to play for, that would be the higher stakes competition for him to play in. I would start easing him into the league games as there's zero to play for there.

I would play him in home league games. We can't break the low blocks down anyway but the amount of support they would get from the crowd in last 20 mins would be massive

He should get involved at some point. Some people sound like they expect him to start all league games now, he will be slowly introduced off the bench. And thats perfect way to impress a la Rashford in his breakthrough season.

Only want to see him in squad tomorrow not start games as know he's not ready for that

If we play like we should do, then we'll be a couple of goals up and then that would be the perfect time to bring him on alongside a decent squad. We've had a habit in the past of playing these young lads with potential in games with a team full of other kids or fringe players. It just never let's them shine. If they're fringe then yeah, play them all together. But if there's a potential first teamer, bring him on with the first team. You get a better understanding of his level compared to the rest of the squad
