Chido Obi | 2024/25 Performances

Thought he did well compared to the usual suspects. Found space, good touch and simple layoffs, managed to get on the end of chances as well.

Needs to develop physically obviously.

He found himself in more goalscoring situations in 50 mins than Hojlund has in 22 games

Yes he’s raw and a way off starting games, but don’t get silly with it
That's not high praise, Hojlund is no where near the level of a striker right now, his confidence is shot and it's impacting his movement.

Obi is still way below the level required to get anything more than a few minutes at the end of games, to say otherwise is just desperation talking.
Time is on his side thankfully so no need to rush him.

But we’re talking about playing for Man Utd in 2025

Your statement would be truer in times gone by. But right now he’s clearly good enough to be playing 30mins or more in this team

He was significantly our best chance of scoring and will be again if he comes on against Sociedad

I dont agree that is Chido is not ready. He did more in his cameo and created more chances and caused more problems for defenders than Hojlunds done in his last 6 games.
Needs to play and get upto premier league pace.

Some people have this obsession with wrapping up and coming players in tin foil. All anyone has is this moment. If Obi is good enough then he is ready to compete. Obviously there are areas of his game that needs polishing but that comes with exposure and competition. We will find out whether he is cut out for this level or not when he plays more. Granted he should not be relied on heavily but the ability is there. He will need proper coaching to keep improving his link up play too. Your age is irrelevant.

This is very much the case, i'd say. If you look at video's from him just before his transfer at Atalanta and the Danish national team, his movement in the channels was great and his finishing deadly. He had a spell like that for us last year too. He can be a great striker but he's just not 'there' mentally at the moment and that's very worrying.

Was pleased with the last part of his performance. He has more striker instincts than Hojlund. If he stays in the first team too long he will lose them like Hojlun and Martial did.

Such a tough position. He's clearly raw and needs more time banging in goals against youth sides and sharpening his abilities, but he's sadly probably our best option as a striker right now as well. feck
We need to get an experienced striker in the summer. Obi can get some minutes as sub

It's obviously clear when the alternatives are a £100,000,000 investment, Laurel and Hardy.
Chido is in contention for a starting spot up front, as are the greenkeeper, the goalkeeping coach, and the mannequin in the fan shop.

What we are seeing with Hojlund right now is so, so bad. He's sunken beneath Wout levels of mediocrity. At least Weghorst would run his heart out.

So the kid has to play. He does at least provide an attacking threat with his pace and running.

Let's be honest. He missed two opportunities to win the game. Should've gone down when that Fulham centre back was tugging on him but understandably backed himself to score, and scuffed his shot. The half chance he had from the De Ligt header was a bit harder but still a chance. No idea why we didn't get a penalty there. Maybe because Obi got his shot in. But he's a 17 year old kid and did decently with that considered. Purely based of this game, I don't think he's on the level of Mason Greenwood when Greenwood burst onto the scene.

Bruno played him in with a disguised pass he wasn't ready for, and the ball bounced off his foot. He was in if he was alive to it. You could see he was disappointed with himself. Probably dawned on him in that moment the difference in level from youth to adult football. You have to be ready at all times.

Anyway, that's no criticism of him, we were definitely more of a threat with him on. He made some good runs, and wanted to play off the shoulder of the last man a couple times, which was refreshing. Could've even won it fornl us another day. Hope he gets enough minutes to develop, not enough to ruin him.

Raw as hell, but you'd be mad not to see what he could become. Hope we dont suck the instincts out of him

Our bench will be interesting on Thursday then. Never before seen the camera cut to a dugout and it’s just Lindelof sat there.

It’s a bit mental you can’t just add players along the way. What if we have a shit load of injuries to the 25 we named back in august? We just forfeit?

C can’t believe you guys are pinning your hopes on a bloke who couldn’t even get a game up top of Arsenal when they didn’t have a striker. Madness.

Still very early days in his development.

It'll be Interesting to see how he develops over the next couple of years.

I don't think the fanbase will allow him that much time though...

I hope he will be managed well.

Can't be any worse than finding yourself tied to an obligatory purchase of Sancho

I liked when Zirkzee went upto him and told him to keep his chin up. Also for all the negativity Bruno gets, he laughed the touch off rather than have a go at him.

Can put three new players in when the window shuts. The three players we selected were Patrick Dorgu, Ayden Heaven and Jack Fletcher.

Amad's injury was awful timing. Think if it had happened before the registration deadline we would have registered Obi over Fletcher.

Ah I see, thanks. They should let you add whoever as long as there’s enough notice.

Did well in the cameo. Looks far from ready but much better than Hojlund at the same time. As expected since he is so young but got into some good positions and could have scored on another day.
