Chevrolet Logo Discussion (Manchester United Kits 2015/16)

So what is the reason this is being released late and why aren't we wearing it in the USA? Would it not make sense to have it on sale to early
Nike's contract runs out on the 31st July, so obviously they want to milk every last cent out of their deal with United.

1977 was my first United shit.

Boy was that Admiral shirt scratchy - serious nipple rash.

A few years later and I loved the Adidas kits. I guess (due to my age) I grew associating those 3 stripes as part of our shirts.

Delighted with what I've seen so far and I just wish we could have the 3 stripes on the side of the shorts.

White shirt should have 3 black ( not red) shoulder stripes though.

Almost looks like throwback to the 80's designs of some sort. I like.

Those shorts remind me of this infamous shirt...

...which I have to say I owned and was quite attached to at the time, ignorant of its bad reputation until years later.

But what happened in the 80s and 90s should stay in the 80s and 90s.

"Infamous" "Bad Reputation" ?

Enlighten us - i always see that shirt as a bit of a cult classic! Pretty rare now and goes for over £100 on ebay for one in decent condition.

I don't think the reference to it in the third black kit is subtle either - it's an obvious nod to it.

Designed by @calxf in the top left hand corner should be a bit of a giveaway!

Not saying it's real mate, I just like the way the Chevy badge is designed. I'd love it if they changed it to something similar, as I hate the logo currently.

Black and yellow is just  though

No, why would it be?

I've not seen it happen on previous seasons, although I can't remember what the changeover was like when we went from umbro to Nike

I think it just arose from Nike being pissed off United went with Adidas and being pedantic about when the contract ends.

I watched United vs Shelbourne in 2002 and i am nearly sure we were wearing a Nike Shirt.

I've got that one and all. If my memory isn't completely failing me, the kit was well received by fans. Very Madchester which was the vibe back then.

You're twisting my mellons man...

Why do so many of these fantasy Adidas kits remove the stripes, like that is something that there is even a remote chance of ever happening.

Nice kit though, but would look better with the full colour gold/silver Chevy logo.

Can you imagine all the work that's going to go into the whole change from Nike to Adidas? The club shop is Nike fecking everything, it's everywhere. Just such a massive job someone has on their hands. Literally everything to be changed. Mind boggling.

I went to that game too

Not long after the Saipan business. The country was divided, I can't remember if Keane played that friendly or not

Exactly - i'm half hoping that Adidas do an "Originals / Trefoil" range including that design as a bit of a throw back - so many iconic kits from back in the day that if they released would be snapped up.

No idea if that's remotely likely, although i had seen on here someone reference a rumour of vintage kits being released - i'd just hope they are better than the "Score Draw" range sold via the blub with the umbro badges missing:http://store.manutd.com/stores/manutd/en/c/fashion/collections/retro

At least they're more likely given Adidas can't exactly impede on it's own copyrights...

I think Nike has a monetary share in the Megastore which is being retained by the club under the adidas deal. At least i'm sure i read something similar on here regarding the change.

It's more the seat alterations in the stands for me, which must be a headache!

I'm sure you can find almost identical replicas of the old Adidas kits somewhere on Internetland. @77 said Adidas will be re releasing the old kits, I think. But for me and all, United and Adidas go hand in hand.

Oh Roy definitely played, i remember him and Veron were in midfield.

Found this,we did wear Nike. So this nonsense this summer is definitely down to Nike.

No, it's just is been discussed ad nauseum on so many different threads i thought you were joking

There's a website called retroshirthaven that does decent remakes, but they're quite limited I think. Look at their Twitter cause they say which ones are coming next, and it's quite obvious the guys a United fan cause they usually have way more United than anyone else (don't seem to have any atm though). I bought an 86-88 United home top but sent it back cause it was way too small in my size, the medium I bought was more like an XS! And they didn't have a L to swap.

The Megastore has been owned and run by Nike since 2002. Now it's going back to United. It'll close on Sunday and reopen on August 1st, so yeah, there's a lot of work to be done.

There's the possibility it's not going to go as smoothly as they hope. We'll see.

The stadium has already started work on the switchover, with some Nike signage covered over - presumably as much as possible without going outside of the terms of the contract. The seats where there is currently a Nike swoosh in the East Stand will obviously need to be changed over on the day of the switchover, but they always replaced them partially during Champions League matches anyway, so I can't see that being a huge job.

And, no, I don't work in the Megastore.

That's the issue with those shirts - all the attention to detail goes into the fabric designs and such, and none goes into making sure it's actually wearable. They're incredibly poorly tailored. At least you know the official Adidas ones will fit properly.

Why wouldn't it go to Adidas?

They also sell a lot of stuff in there that isn't Nike, there's obviously the football shirts, a boot section and some training/leisure gear but the rest is shite United branded stuff like mugs, pencil cases and sweets. They used to have a DVD section and a whole wall for those little figures but they seem to have got rid of that now last time I went in!

Absolutely, some of them are quite clearly fake too. £40 inc postage or something it was, so not that much less than you'd pay for an authentic Adidas one. Still a decent option for older shirts or classic umbro ones if you get one that fits

I guess because we managed to negotiate getting that business back, which highlights just how good a deal it is for the club.

Will there be the Adidas stripes instead?
