Chelsea's FA Cup Draws

Dunno why people are pissed, this place doesnt care about dog shit competition like FA cup.

Ridiculous this. I’m not saying it’s fixed because I hate tin hat theories but it’s a joke at this stage.

Law of averages has to kick in somewhere ffs. Spawny cnuts.
They had tough draws last season. It just seems like a piss take because all of our rivals are getting an easier time than us. Our draws in all competitions have been brutal for about 3 years now.

I think City got to a cup final a couple of years ago without playing a single PL team while we drew top 4 rivals 3 rounds in a row.

Odd it doesn’t get the attention Uniteds penalties have.

It’d “stink of corruption” if we had a run half as easy as theirs.

We really ought to reevaluate our bribery budgeting and put more towards the CL going forward, considering our last 5 round of 16 draws we've pulled either the worst or second worst opponent possible every time:

14/15: PSG
15/16: PSG
17/18: Barcelona
19/20: Bayern
20/21: Atletico Madrid

Yeah, that's the frustration for me. Not that 'it's a fix', or that it's anything other than good and bad luck that should, hopefully, level out over time.

It's just so frustrating how our run of terrible draws goes unmentioned, and then as soon as we get an easy one it'll be highlighted and mentioned as if 'what a surprise, United get an easy tie'.

It's the same with decisions that go for and against us. We get plenty of both, but the ones that go against us go unmentioned, and the ones that go in our favour are debated all over the place.

It's just such a frustrating inconsistecy.

Our luck in the FA Cup draw is delightful.

Except Lille, our CL draws are generally difficult but domestically they’re fine.

Got to love the heated balls. Don't mind "bigger" fixtures in the FA Cup as the games generally feel a bit more open than in the prem, but considering the extra fixture congestion due to Covid Plymouth is an exceptional draw. They'll probably do us though.

At the risk of sour grapes accusations, I do think the 'magic of the cup' has been harmed by how consistently Arsenal and Chelsea have gotten to the final over the last ten years. Without looking it up I imagine one of them has been in about 7/8 or the last ten, and they've played each other at least twice? It's not rigged or anything and there's obviously been some big wins on the way for both but it's definitely been the least interested I've ever been about the final.

You lot better behave now, or one of us will be forced to lecture you about Olympiakos again and our tough CL draws.

4/5 for us. Plymouth…. Nice

City and Chelsea getting yet more lower league clubs. It's absurd at this point.

Why are there two threads  Quickly make one of them about cancelling, it will get sorted out fast.

 yeah just drag the CL into the conversation to deflect from the actual topic at hand.

Yeah I know your comment was with tongue firmly in cheek, but the others weren't, so I just added yours to make up the numbers
Aw come on, detect sarcasm

I was complaining about drawing Plymouth when there were easier teams available.

It’s difficult on a forum I suppose but this was not genuine complaint

I made this thread over a decade ago which shows how long it’s been going on for.

Wasn't that just after you got dumped out by Leeds when they were in the third tier?

Ofcourse we'll get kind draws if our potential tough opponents wipe themselves out against league one opposition....

Tbf, this was probably the best draw to try and prevent a Dipper Quad. City then potentially Chelsea is a tough ask. That said, Palace aren't mugs.

9 straight wins against Palace for Chelsea now - though to be sure the last one came down to the wire with Ziyech scoring in the 89th minute!

Seems like it'll be at Chelsea's discretion - we have previous of allowing Mount and Tomori to play against us when we drew Derby in the league cup in 18/19. Would guess he'd probably be allowed to play given that precedent?
I could be wrong but I think the FA Cup is a blanket no these days.

Is it? Could be - I assumed that the League and FA cups were under the same governance and general ruleset.
Funnily enough I think I may have heard it when they were explaining Mount/Tomori playing in the League Cup.

Didn't we have a few loanees at Hull (one of them being Tomori) when we played them in the FA Cup a few years ago and iirc none of them played.
