Chelsea vs. Manchester United

Glad we've gone with just 1 striker. This is set up to contain and hit on the break. Only way we had a chance.

That's asking a lot of Jones in his first game back.

I don't think anybody guessed that line-up whether it be tactically or in terms of personnel.

Don't understand Kagawa being left out for Young unless he's injured. I don't get what the point is. Januzaj has been our best performing winger and I think with Valencia and Young as the wide options he's wasted. Who's going to run from outside to inside for him to find with his passing or create space for him? That was the problem in the first half against Swansea, unless he just ran with the ball there was nothing on. When he and kagawa swapped than Januzaj could actually provide that movement for kagawa to use.

We do have a habit of looking good on paper! Ona positive note.YOung has been ok of late and Jones is back! Adnan behind Danny could be a problem for Chelsea! I want to predict a win but I can't so I'll go 1-1!

I don't like Jones in midfield but right now we need him in there.

Probably more to do with Young helping Evra on the left.

So, Kagawa finally showed some life vs. Swansea and his reward is having Young picked ahead of him? Way to bolster his confidence, Moyes.....

OFFICIAL MUFC XI:

de Gea

Rafael
Evans
Vidic
Evra

Valencia
Carrick
Jones
Young

Januzaj
Welbeck

A lot of positives to be had there.

Short of our two best players, that is close to our best team.

Young and Valencia have their work cut out today but so do Chelsea's back line with an inform Welbeck and the Belgian wizard in behind him.

Probably the best we could put out.

Is it? I mean, we could try a formation that wasn't essentially 4-4-2 with wingers who've been shit all season, but if we're intent on playing the same brand of crap football in the same way, yeah, it's the best we could put out.

I'm glad that Januzaj is in the staring XI although i am sceptical of his ability to help the CMs, or if he will even be asked to perform that task.

No Kags is a bit weird - Januzaj is far more dangerous outwide then in the centre I think. Still, it's a decent line-up... though I may have prefered Smalling to Evans.

That's...not too bad actually. Going for two wide men is interesting, although not exciting given those two are Valencia and Young. Januzaj at #10 will be good to watch. And good to see the likes of Rafael, Vidic, Jones and Evans given there were rumours all of them would be out.

Could be but then there's no point thinking so defensive when it could really nullify your attack. We'll have to see what happens but I think we'll really struggle going forward.

Thank feck for Jones. Says a lot about the fecker that he strolls into our midfield as soon as he's fit.

Dowd better get a grip of Luiz in this game right from the start, he'll be hacking away at Januzaj all game.

My only criticism with the line up would be Young. I cant see us creating much and plus is he ready for a game of this magnitude?

I'm not suggesting it's good or anything but it's obviously what Moyes believes is our best team to put out today. I don't see us getting a result.

Not too bad except for the inclusion of young and Valencia.

Completely agree with this Kagawa chat.

Never once failed us in a big game and his constant string of world class performances have made him undropable

Seriously, you'd think he was Messi the way you lot carry on.

Young strengthens the left side defensively and he's pretty good at breaking quickly, pretty logical decision to include him ahead of Kagawa.

I imagine Young and Januzaj will probably interchange in the no. 10 role and drift in from the left. Young also provides more defensive cover and to give him his dues, he was playing well before his injury.

Young is in there to cover for Evra's defensive shitness. Willian would have had a field day otherwise. He probably still will.

It annoys me that Young hitting a ball quite nicely into the net twice has seemingly altered the perception of him. His all round game has still been piss.

It's a change that I'm not a fan of, and it's just part of Moyes' cautious approach in games.

Have you seen who's playing on the other flank? I'm a bit surprised by Janu down the middle, I can only think that Moyes wants him in the side but doesn't trust him defensively down the wings.

Again, why do we need defensive strength in an area of the pitch our opponents barely attack in?

It's times like these you realise certain managers don't actually watch football.

It's getting to the point where I'm starting to think that we're seeing something totally different to what everyone else is at united.

We could do with a screamer from Young today.

What would you do, though? If we had RvP and Rooney and at least one wide man firing on all cylinders, I'd understand you wanting us to go to Stamford Bridge and take the game to them.

I'm probably one of Moyes' biggest detractors on here but I can't see much room for other solutions today. Possibly Januzaj on the left with Kagawa through the middle, or possibly Fletcher ahead of Jones in CM, but I don't think he's got much choice and I can understand wanting to keep it tight today.

Not that I'm expecting a good performance, but I wouldn't today with the injuries we've got either way.

Both Fergie and Moyes seem to love the defensive players in the big games

When you've got the weaker team you can't gamble for a win and risk a big loss. You've got to play to pinch the win and protect against a morale crushing defeat. We're missing two (our only two) world class players and playing Chelsea at the Bridge. It's sensible.

If we go down though, it's essential that we roll the dice before the game gets away from us.

Its going to be the style of football we entered the season with...without RVP and/or Rooney.

We went for Valencia and Young in the big games and it didn't benefit us for the most partm

I think he has been omitted due to his inabilty to put a foot in.Todays game plan wil be based on a workmanlike performance and it won't be pretty. If the game becomes scrappy we have a chance and I assume he's on the bench!

Any gentlemen>>>>>to the pub!

I agree with Ramirez and Luiz in there you need to look after yourself. Not sure Kagawa is that type.
