@WeePat @TheMagicFoolBus and anyone else.

Those comments are bad. Like really bad. Who is he referring to do you think specifically? He doesn’t sound happy at all and to call out he teams commitment in pre season is really weird. Is there something going on behind the scenes getting mentioned in Chelsea circles?

A number of players wanting to leave that he’s having to include in his pre season is a mess.

Consensus seems to be Werner, Pulisic, Azpilicueta, and Alonso. Maybe Ziyech as well.

Yeah, I would say those players, minus Pulisic - I don't think he's actively trying to leave, but yeah definitely Ziyech, who changed his agent recently and been heavily linked with Milan. But then there's also guys like Bachuayi, Kenedy etc who we know won't be part of the team, which begs the question - why is he bringing them on tour? Conte left a bunch of players in London because he wanted a harmonious group who he knew were going were settled and fighting to be in the team.

Seems very short sighted of Boehly to buy the club and not bring anyone in right now to help this summer.

They were clearly hoping to keep Marina and Cech on for the summer but were turned down. Hard to say whether they'd even be able to bring someone in at short notice who they'd trust well enough...

Yeah some of the squad management has been puzzling for sure.

Oh my, leaving the scoreline aside, Chelsea were all over the place defensively in that Arsenal game. That last goal is a textbook example of how not to defend - 8 players on the left side of the pitch trying to cover 4 Arsenal players. Tuchel is going to have a very tough year.

Yeah, transfers and coaching is too much for one man to handle. Also IIRC he was very straightforward with Werner too, saying it's players duty to defend his position, something like that.

Some managers like it I guess, but Tuchel just wants to be a coach. I remember him saying how refreshing it was to just be able to focus on coaching. He really enjoyed the set up he walked into and I think he's hoping for a similar sort of set up moving forward.

I like these players, but we do have players like Vale, Gilmour, Sterling looking to impress and show they're ready to step up. Vale fresh of the Euro U19 win, surprised to see him sent back to U23. I would have left Alonso, Azpi plus the seasoned veterans of preseason tours Batshuayi, Barkley and Kenedy etc at home.

I don’t understand taking them and playing them either. United left players back who weren’t going to feature or were going on loan. Obviously Ten Hag wants to look at others though. Tuchel should know now though who he wants and who he doesn’t so all seems pointless.

Not taking Broja but then not selling him is another daft one. From the outside looking in it does seem like there’s no real plan what so ever with everything being done off the cuff.

Not sure you can afford to lose Ziyech, Werner and Pulisic this late in the window and with no replacement either. Especially when you still need a CB and in my opinion a CF.

I didn't even see the 4th goal - I stayed up to watch the game and rage quit at 3-0 down

Yeah, with so many people leaving Chelsea, it's easy to see why he is frustrated.

Lot of things are happening at once at Chelsea, directors and few other transfer people leaving and on top of that few players in the squad who wants out.

Broja actually went but injured his ankle in training so he returned - at least that's the cover story. Lots of suspicion it was to do with us considering a bid from West Ham (though that seems unlikely now as it seems they're buying Scamacca from Sassuolo).

Agreed re: potential losses - don't think we can let all 3 go.

Yeah it doesn’t sound convincing given he’s been actively making noise he wants to leave? (Broja). Surely with a minor injury you’d stay with the squad for the tour and remain integrated.

Yeah can definitely see why he's feeling stressed.

I think with Broja he definitely did something to his ankle but yeah at the time it also looked certain he was going to leave so I guess Tuchel decided might as well send him back to Cobham, let him rehab there and conduct his transfer business from there. Now looks like he's staying, which is honestly the most sensible decision for his career since he literally just has Havertz in his way.

He wanted assurances about his place in the squad and how much he would feature. He has never said he wanted to leave.

I think the reasoning is that on tour there are limited physio resources and staff and given that the players are being pushed hard in preseason it made little sense to potentially hamper Broja's recovery and make things difficult for the rest of the squad.

I wonder if he’s been given these assurances now and is happy to be the back up to Havertz? I guess it’s back to the Tammy situation if so although he may be more suited to Tuchel style of play.

Frustrating not being able to give him a pre season and again hampers prep I guess.

Going to be a tough year for them unless they can pull a couple of exciting last minute signings out of the bag.

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing some tweets from the journos covering the club's US tour (maybe one of Law, Johnson or Newson) that they saw Broja limping with one of those protective boots on his ankle before leaving back for London so must have been one hell of a cover story if there was nothing wrong with his foot and him leaving was down to the transfer speculation.

Like others have said, most likely the injury was very much true and he headed back to Cobham to have it checked out properly and get access to better physios than the ones along for the tour. Haven't heard anything about the injury since so it probably wasn't too bad. Now that the rest of the team has traveled back to England it'll be interesting to see if he'll be part of the training squad or not, that should tell us a bit more about where his future lies.

I'd definitely keep him around if no other forward is signed. Being the only real striker in the squad he should see plenty of game time, even if Havertz is the preferred option up front. It's not like Havertz has shown anything to make him a guaranteed starter so it's up to Broja himself to claim the starting spot for himself, and even if he can't do it he should still be getting minutes almost every game, especially now with the 5 sub rule. Could easily see him play around 1500 minutes in the league if he stays fit, as well as being a starter in all the domestic cups.

Especially if Werner leaves like has been rumored in the last few days, I'd be very surprised if Broja still wants to go. Surely he'll be licking his lips at the possibility of claiming a squad spot for himself?

The pathway could literally not be better for him, unless he's expecting zero competition, which would be silly and unlikely to be the case. I can't think of an academy player who's had the path cleared for him as much as Broja - sent Lukaku packing and refused to sign Ronaldo and so far, seemingly, not actively searching for a striker.

Looks like Chelsea were late on this one too?

Definitely scattergun this summer it seems. Can see why TT is frustrated.

It can’t help them that sleazy Barcelona have unsettled two of their players and then don’t bid for them!

They needed to do what Pep has done this season a year or two ago, and trim the squad and let players leave who aren’t happy with their minutes. Two years on and they still have way too many midfielders and attackers, and not enough clear standout options.

It seems we try to back our manager by going after players. TT in this window work in tandem with boehly to identify targets and try to bring them in. Kounde,de ligt and raphinha all are his intended targets including koulibaly and sterling as well.

Raphinha and kounde boehly did all to bring them in but they preferred Barcelona. Where scattered approach came into this.

Frustrating window so far for Chelsea. Getting stiffed by Barca again must be a pain in the arse.

I’ve just never seen a top club try for so many players and fail. It just feels there’s no plan or work going in. Not even to work out what players are available and willing to move etc. literally moving one to the other.

They'll panic buy someone relatively good. I would keep an eye on the Anthony situation.

I’m not gonna lie, I was just talking about a move like that with my mates today.

But yeah I’m not worried about the CB situation because a lot of the CBs out there are at a similar level. Am I particularly bothered if we end up with Skrinniar or Gvardiol instead of Kounde? Not really.

It's personal choice for players. So won't mind. If the players prefer barcelona then so be it. We bid for players and selling team accepted our bid yet player didn't want to come then have to move on to next target.

We bid because we needed defenders. Two already moved away another two wanted to leave. So nothing seemed extraordinary.

We could do with a Chilwell back up to be honest.

It’s very different to how you normally operate and suggests you’ve done little to no research and are simply just trying to but who you can much like football manager.

I guess things behind the scenes must be chaos and that would explain why Tuchel is fed up.

Not much you can do now though. Need to get through the window and Boehly needs to get his set up in place ASAP for January window.

I think Boehly’s inexperience is showing a bit. In American sports like baseball, it’s not uncommon to bid on a ton of free agents or for deals to come together very quickly. All the contracts are standardized, the agent fees are regulated, there aren’t any issues with image rights, etc. You might never talk to a player, then present them with a big offer out of the blue, and sign them the next day. And you can trade players essentially without their consent.

Football is just different. Clubs start talking to agents months and months before the window starts, there is a big process of convincing players and agents, and if you don’t get the player/agent on your side then agreeing a fee with another club is meaningless.

That’s interesting. I’m not too familiar with how US sports work but it would certainly explain quite a lot.

You would have thought he’d have done his research though or surrounded himself by a few knowledgeable individuals? It seems quite a lot has been dumped on Tuchel which he clearly isn’t best pleased about.

Mate if you just want to score points against chelsea then so be it. You knew enough information about chelsea that just four weeks before only our previous board completely moved away. Yes it's wrong move you can say but boehly did right in my opinion. They already screwed up lot of money in past two windows but quality wise not changed much. So he thought they didn't deserve another choice to spend mor money. So he moved all of them.

Since he took over he signed two and failed two. Will have to discuss about this window only when it's over. Still more than one month time left.

He is willing to spend to back the manager. If not this player may be another one but what s important is intention. He wanted to spend and he will and getting loaded with more money perhaps.

It’s blatantly obvious things aren’t right at the club and this was highlighted even more by your own manager going public.

Accept it and move on. it’s not point scoring it’s an observation which plenty of other people have noticed and Tuchel pretty much confirmed.

I get it you don’t like hearing anything that suggests all is not well but stop being silly about point scoring and by being overly defensive and you might enjoy some actual discussion.
