Sarr played mostly when team was struggling as a unit. He is not much bad in some metrics for defensive player. Tuchel likes him so will be in squad will see how much will he improve?
If all Sarr had to do is defend he’d be reasonably decent. But on the ball he is a disaster waiting to happen and his decision making is dreadful. I wince whenever he gets the ball with anyone closing him down.
Koulibaly and Kounde were always my ideal CB signings. Chuffed to bits we, seemingly, have got them both.
I think it’s pretty safe to say this is the best we could possibly have done to replace Toni and AC. In my opinion direct upgrades on both. Especially AC to Koundé.

Back line of:

Chilwell——————————————————————-James
—-———Koulibaly————-Silva—————Kounde—————
——————-——————-Mendy——————————-———-

That’s absolutely fantastic once we get up to speed after settling in.

I don’t watch much of Sevilla unless they are playing RM or Barca, just a few games a year. Thought this was pretty well done for those of us that don’t watch him all that often.

Still some room left in that £200m Boehly said was the budget. I have seen people say he would go to £300m for the right transfers, but not seen a direct quote from him.

I have only seen the story that the 300m raised is for the squad. No direct quotes.

The Dodgers fans who told us he will spend whatever to win seem to be right so far..

Looks like it's not happening, should have known that when player was desperate for Barca and Barca are going all in this season with their spending.
Its always possible if deal take this much long to go through. Hope chelsea try to strengthen other areas.

Yeah it's always a risk, especially with player so desperate for Barca.

Maybe Chelsea won't sell Azpi to Barca now.

Why do the experts on Twitter have no clue? Because they've proclaimed this deal done (for both Barca and Chelsea) about 4 times.

Why is Colwill happy that we're not signing another defender? Because he's more likely to get a game. It happened last year when the Kounde deal fell through and Chalobach got a chance.

Not about Colwill, it's about the deal. What they reported might be true and still he can sign for Barca.

There were many who said him going to preseason instead of medical is a bad sign for Chelsea and things do change quickly in football especially when it comes to transfer of a player who was holding for other club.

Can we all agree to hate Barca then at least?

Fecking snakes. They’ve been following you around all window like a bad smell. That dinner Bohley has with the Catalans must have gone pear shaped. Hope he left the cnuts the bill.

I'm genuinely not mad at Barca, it's it's obviously annoying them getting our targets for big money (and them wanting our captain for peanuts) but there is a morbid fascination to see them spunk all this dosh when they won't even pay their own players, and how the authorities seem fine with it.

Kinda like watching someone build a house of cards that you know will end up in a mess.

Yes but the fans of the club believe Laporta is David Blaine

What's weird is I don't think Barca's transfers are even that good, Lewa is amazing but he is 33 and will be 34 by the time the season starts. Raphina isn't as good as Dembele and cost £55m, then there's Christensen and Kessie who are both very average players although on frees aren't terrible pick ups. I've never rated Kounde anywhere near as highly as others have, their strategy is all over the place.

It’s not debt. As people have tried to explain they are technically lending the money to themselves so the funds can be recategorized as “capital debt”. This is done for reasons like taxes and is part of what they pledged to do when they purchased the club.

Clearlake …. Boehlys company… is one of the most experienced groups in the whole world at doing this, not amateurs, elected like politicians, and going to banks to beg for funds they have already spent.

They hired the. Dodger stadium architect as well, which makes me SUPER happy.
Read out what you've just typed and tell me how that isn't debt

What, the dinner? That restaurant probably agreed to defer the payment for the meal until 2047 because they love Barca.

I hope Boehly had the most expensive items on the menu and washed it down with a couple of bottles of Teso La Monja.

This could be the tipping point.

There’s actual footage of the dinner in question

Barca didn’t take too kindly to the disrespect

Chelsea again showing a bit of naivety in the market this summer. It's clearly not the same operation in recruitment, and it shows. Boehly could have done with getting an experienced market head next to him just for this summer, then get his long-term team around him after that.

Yeah, the team in charge at Chelsea this time last summer would've been able to get Kounde over the line. :nervous:

This Gerard Romero is winding up fans over this. Every Saville source says there has been no offer made from Barca, verbal or official. This guy had no reputation to begin with and he is absolutely clowning himself now.

My point isn't so much not signing him, but that they allowed it to come out that the deal was all but done when it doesn't seem that was the case. If they thought the player could still go elsewhere it just isn't a good look. All too similar to United's amateur approach to transfers.

Whether Kounde ends up signing or not, this must be the first time I fully agree with you on something.

Exactly the same thing happened last season. It's not the Chelsea end leaking stuff, the same thing is happening with the new lot as it did with Roman and co.

Maybe I just hadn't paid enough attention before, but I don't recall a summer where three of Chelsea's top targets have all lead the club down the path somewhat before eventually not signing for them and going elsewhere.

Interesting. I do think this is going to very difficult for some fans (not you) to get their head around as they have only ever known the club under the ownership of the cash cow Abramovich.

Its quite clear you will be operating like a normal club from now on and this move highlights that money no longer grows on trees. If you want to spend big money then it has to come from somewhere and ultimately needs to be paid back.
Have you ever met Todd Boehly? He paid more than your half your roster combined just for a shortstop.

People concerned about this should really hold their horses because the second phase involves borrowing another 900 million from themselves.1.7 billion, that’s how much they agreed needed tobe spent developing the Bridge and the surrounding area. This groups strength in this area was one of the reasons their bid was considered superior by Raine.

Once again: even if you have the cash sitting on your sofa, you have to reclassify that money as a capital investment expenditure if you want to put it towards a building project, for many reasons including taxes. It isn’t that hard a concept to grasp.

This is true. Usually we get players over other teams including Utd when we are serious.

However despite the allure of Barcelona, I question any players judgement to join a club where they’re struggling to pay wages and having to asset strip to survive. If anyone wants to join a club with no security they’re very welcome too, shows a distinct lack of sense and I wouldn’t want that type of player here.

Yes.

I hope you guys hold their feet to the fire on FDJ: make it payment over twenty years or something.

I thought our online fan base were obsessive over transfers, Chelsea's online fan base is not far off ours.

Mate all team fans obsessed with transfers. Off season that's only entertainment for fans.

I’m going to the Chelsea game tonight. I just hope this thunderstorm goes away. I predict many pints will be consumed with people in blue and a few in red.

Looks like Barca from tweets just now. They have been a right nuisance for you.

Kimpembe now you think?! De Ligt and Kounde gone and Ake off the table?

Seems crazy you didn’t get this one done after the 12+ months of dancing with his club.
