The players we wanted to shift not completely hopeless is the only answer. Why pl clubs wanted mount,havertz and Kovasic for the combined amount of 160 mn.

We can sell players to anyone with fair market price nobody need to raise their eyebrow mate.

If wolves can sell neves for 47 mn to arabs we can sell ziyech to them for 20 mn,koulibally for 25 mn. It's fair market value. And we have nothing to do with PIF. Lukaku didn't want to go so we didn't sell.

It is as Peacock (NBC) that showed all the games streaming in the US. USA Network (NBC) hand picked all the games it wanted on cable and satellite service.

Paramount plus (CBS) shows UCL, Europa, and Nations League in the US.

Watching Spurs right now is why I wanted Postecoglu ahead of Poch.

I really hope Poch proves me wrong but Postecoglu is fearless as a manager. He just sets out to attack after attack and gets real success.

Poch has come in and used a back 5 against Luton and Nottingham Forest now. We rarely score goals and rarely press.

I’m getting concerned already.

I’m more concerned about the formation and tactics. We are going 5 at the back against every team, home or away.

It doesn’t suit any of the players and we played an entire pre-season 4231.

4231 is perfect for Caicedo and Enzo but Poch won’t revert back to it.

How can Chelsea spend the GDP of a smallish country and still have Conor Gallagher in the starting line-up for a Premier League game? Amazing stuff.

I hate the way Chelsea setup. Messing around with 3 at the back against the likes of Forest at home. That would frustrate the life out of me. Why do you need 3 centre backs on the pitch and a midfield like that against such teams?

Maybe I'm too simplistic but for me, play a normal 4 at the back, play Enzo and Caicedo in midfield which is solid enough, get rid of crap like Gallagher, support Jackson with pace and skill out wide, Sterling and Madueke for example.

Why overdo it?

I feel like I say this at the end of every Chelsea game but imagine having 90% of this bunch of wasters on 8 year contracts.

If someone told you before this spending spree that they would have spent this much money, you'd be excited to see the players that would be brought in.

You'd be well within your rights for thinking there'd be some players that were top 5 or even top 3 in their position in the world. There are categorically none of those players.

Are there any top 10? Any top 20 even? I don't think so.
 
It's funny how they spent so much money to get so little. And let some of their best players like Kovacic go for relatively cheap. Also Boehly seems to have no concept of team building, turning teams over 10-15 at a go can take ages to gel into a proper team. A lot of people here think United should get rid of the whole squad and get a new one in but that's not how football works.
 
There’s no way there isn’t a criminal element involved with the Mudryk transfer. All that money for someone who is fast. Can’t dribble, poor first touch and makes wrong runs all the time.
 
Really don’t understand why Antony gets such harsh criticism by the media and the Ukrainian MBappe hardly gets a mention.

None of this lot make our first 11 and I say that with confidence.

Enzo who Chelsea fans rave about is basically an Argentinian Mctominay. He breaks up play, pings a few passes, makes a few blocks but so does McT.

Funny after spending a billion their best player is still Sterling.

For all the stick Antony gets, Mudryk is on another planet of shitness.
If they don’t get top 4 it should be considered one of the all time worst seasons.
 
They've completely lost the culture of winning.

Who have they even beaten in 2023? Luton, Bournemouth, Palace, Leicester...have I missed anyone out? Certainly no top 10 team for a very long time now.

Nah sorry Enzo is class, their best player, but obviously not worth what was paid.
 
Their biggest problem is the same as ours, only even worse, nobody who can finish worth a damn. It’s bizarre that they spent that much money while neglecting the most important position on the pitch.

You look at City today, they weren’t dominant for big stretches of the game but having the 2 best strikers in the league paid dividends.

Personally I think he is a really good player signed for an extortionate fee. Far more instrumental with his passing than McTominay has ever been. The one I would definitely take if it didn't involve handing over 100 million+ quid.

A lot of the other signings..well...the jury is out.
 
Doesn't matter who the manager is when your club is spending over a billion quid in a year, paying severance to two managers, and you're on the hook for many contracts for 6 to 8 years.

And you've got no Europe to worry about and your squad is so big you can rotate for cups.

Zero excuses.

Enzo is 10 times the player McTominay is. Chelsea being shit doesn't necessarily mean that every player they have is bad.

Same shit, different Manager. Sign a host of players and spend the next few months being inconsistent with no room for patience. Way too many changes to their squad in the past 2 seasons.
 
Long-term signings combined with the need for immediate success and £1bn spend, of course this is going to end well.

he won a World Cup which not many players can say so that is great for him but club level I’m yet to see anything offensively or defensively that I’ve not seen from other midfielders in the league that cost a fraction of the price.
