It's not crazy to think that given who may leave and what not, that by end of September a LB, CB could be signed. Gk will depend on Kepa. It's why it looks like we have a clear run at Havertz. We can pay it should we wish, other clubs dont want to right now. It's also why we had no issue going in and just triggering Werner's release clause. We are in a fortunate position in some sense

1. I respectfully don't think so. A top 4 club in PL is usually quite decent - meaning getting in six new players for the first XI - which is what I was addressing - would mean massive spending. Signing 5-6 new players as a promotional team has happened numerous times because their often Championship-level players are more easily replaceable after getting the hefty cash cow of playing in the PL.

2. You really are in a fortunate position - and is proving that by signing Ziyech, Werner and possibly Havertz. But adding a CB, Chilwell and Onana - to me at least - sounds so FIFA-esque, that if it happens it's not just a sign of you being in "a fortunate position", but in the most economically fortunate position in the history of football, giving we live in a pandemic which we haven't got a clue when is ending and which is probably going to prevent having fans to games the rest of the year - an economically arrow to the knee for every club - but then you'll be chucking about nearly €3-400 million? It just seems excessive to me, unless you go out, and sell for a good €100-150 million.

But... time will tell if you'll get half a new team this summer - I hope not ;)
 
The next time Chelsea play a game, we'll get to see Werner, Ziyech and possibly Havertz in action. The excitement builds.

Reguilon is who I hopefully want to see, scored very good goal in the Europa last week as well. Will be much easier for us to use a traditional back 4 in a 4 3 3 if we have a left back who is top draw at actually defending as well as going forward. Maybe will lead to a more settled system as well.

Quality attackers always welcome too of course, though I do want us to make sure academy players get lots of minutes as well.

I'll be honest mate, I have no clue about how good a defender Requilon is. It seems as though people have latched on to him because his price is low and the assumption has been that he can be no worse than Chilwell.

Transfer ban plus selling Hazard gave us a big pot to start with, plus clearing several high earners off the wage bill in Willian and Pedro and probably getting shot of a number of lower (but still substantial) wage players. It's looking like being a big window, but I'd still be surprised to see GK, LB and CB. Guessing the CB will wait for another window.

Could Dortmund’s Sancho stance have an effect on our deal with Havertz? I feel Leverkusen might see that and start getting creative with us.

What should they look like?

He did his hammy. He'll be able to walk and you'd not see it strapped up. Any bruising would be on the back of his legs depending on the grade.

No, we usually know how to negotiate...., he'll go cheap next summer if not this one due to contract and seems he wants to come to us asap.

Sancho has extension till 2023, no idea why Utd trying get now given that.

On a side United are seemingly still trying as Sancho wants the move. No official bid has been submitted or rejected either. It's still very much in play this one.
 
In truth, Chelsea should be shopping first for a new coach, then take it from there.

next season he will have actually made a mark on the squad and will be judged as any other Chelsea manager.

If it starts going south quickly a veteran manager will be brought in as always.

I think he will get 4th again at a minimum.

Your squad is in the same boat with Ole...the difference is Chelsea are masters of surviving managerial turmoil.

Fair point, Abromovic will have the mess sorted out by Christmas. But then again he does have a soft spot for Lampard, here's hoping he keeps the faith.

Worst defence in the top 10 signing a striker, winger and attacking midfielder. The major positive of their season was the breakthrough of the academy attacking players into the first team and they’re going to struggle with these foreign arrivals. Not sure about Lampard’s thinking at all here. Still think Werner will bag to feck though.
 
says he used to wake up really early to watch the premier league in his home town and always watched Chelsea because he loved them and that he wished he could have played with his idol Lampard growing up. Something along those lines anyways

- For us to sign any CB this summer then we will definitely have to sell before we buy. Honestly I wouldn’t mind sticking with Tomori and Zouma as that was our best partnership last season.

Replacing Kepa is the most important thing for this window. I haven’t ever jumped on the Kepa out wagon. I feel I have given him enough time now but even when his head is right he just isn’t up to the required standard.

If we end up with Havertz and Pope or someone else established then I would call it a great and massive first step in the right direction.

As for the defense, I hope Lampard tweaks his tactics not just for the back 4/5 but also for the CMs in front.Their have been times where we have been leakier than a colander and that’s not entirely down to the CBs.

Agreed. Chilwell will never be a top class left back. The amount he is supposed to be worth is ridiculous.

He's had a terrible season - I do not know the reasons for that. I trust the people at Chelsea to decide what would be the best solution in this case.

Chelsea twitter appear to running with the translation "Lampard was my idol growing up and I wish to play with him now" which is an awfully typical twitter thing.
 


Mbuyamba signed - formerly at Barca, word is he would have signed for us last year were it not for the transfer ban.

Physically imposing Dutch CB but very raw. Potential on the ball but extremely inconsistent - mooted as a young VVD but this is mostly a lazy comparison based on his nationality & a vague physical resemblance. Will be one to keep an eye on as he'll surely go out on loan for the coming year.
 
What do you lads think of Thiago Silva on a free transfer on a short term contract? It could alleviate some of the pressure of having to pay big money for a CB until next summer.

In the meantime we get a 36 year old who brings experience and leadership to the back 4.

I mean he's no Rio Ferdinand at QPR. He's pace and athleticism is still at a very good level, from what I can tell.

PSG generally play a very high line - obviously there's the caveat that they're rarely threatened in Ligue 1, but even in the CL they've been aggressive in terms of their defensive positioning and Silva has looked excellent I'd say. He's still a top class defender of the penalty box as well.

Depending on the wages I don't see a huge downside here frankly. He can't play week in week out but he'd still be an upgrade for us in big matches and perhaps he could teach our other CBs a thing or two.

Next season will be tough for whole football World with games will come thick and fast. Chelsea signed two attack minded players(Werner and ziyech) for outgoing Willian and Pedro. Most probably will let go one or two midfielders so try to sign havertz. It's quiet reasonable to sign three players for out going three or four players and also upgrading first 11.

Chelsea will definitely sign defenders that's for sure. Linked with central defenders like dunk,stones,Gimenez,rice and left full backs like chilwell, telles, tagliafico. Probabably will sell Christensen or rudiger and Emerson.

Then finally goal keeper. Looks like kepa played final game for Chelsea already. Onana, pope, oblak, foster all are linked with Chelsea. Will get clear picture in one or two weeks.
