Chelsea 2018/19 - 3rd and European Champions. Sarri, not sorry

Higuain will poach a few goals but watching him at Milan and his conditioning dosen't look the best atm.

He looks out of shape and is coming to an even more demanding league.
I'm sceptical, very sceptical.

Higuain joins the list of great strikers to play for Chelsea over the years. The likes of Shevchenko, Torres, Eto'o, Falcao.

If he stands in a dangerous area & flails his stomach around, he'll still be a more effective centre forward than Morata. They're not going to be any worse off, at least.

Higuain is slower than Lukaku. Reliable goal scorer but not sure he can cope with pace of the league. Can end badly for him.

 That is such a hilarious image. I wish someone could bring this to life!

Don't think any Chelsea fans are under any allusions that this will propel us to new heights or that Higuain is our savior. Really, all he has to do is be respectable and he's an upgrade on what we had.

Also moves Hazard back to his natural position instead of this false 9 crap we've been enduring out of necessity.

Why would Chelsea buy him in 18 months? Juventus obviously can't find a buyer for him. Good deal on the face of it for Chelsea - can send him back after 6 and 18 months. They certainly won't be buying him at nearly 33 at the end of that load deal.

Will score goals, he is a goalscorer and thats all he is here for. Quite pleased he is coming on a 6-18 month loan. Quietens the morons who thought we would genuinely sign Icardi this month ffs.

Leandro Paredes now and i think it's a decent window

Haven't watched Italian football this season so not sure how bad he's been, but he put us to the sword in the CL last season tbf. 3 goals in 2 games.

If he's still half as good then it's worrying tbh, will probably help Chelsea nail down top 4.

Will get them over the line for top 4 probably. Their biggest problem was all their strikers were a bit shite. Hazard is a creator, can't rely on him to create everything and score everything.

Chelsea are fine and have been all season. Quite clearly the third best team in the league. And with Kane out they are favourites for a top 3 finish now. Having seen him live recently I wouldn't expect too much from Higuain but he may have something to prove in a new league and I still consider him an upgrade, if only to stop this Hazard as a false 9 stuff.

He's looking slimmer, hope this deal works out...

Him being slow is a common sleight I've been seeing. You really don't need pace in the PL to be an elite striker. Kane and Aguero aren't lightning fast. Giroud is someone I'd consider slow and Higuain is certainly quicker than him.

It'll be all about movement and link-up play in our team. We dominate possession against every opponent we play under Sarri so it's not as though Higuain would need to be pacey on the break. Don't think he'd be a good fit under Conte or Mou were they still here but he's perfect for Sarri's play style.

Suarez wasn’t lightning quick and neither was Van Persie. A lack of pace won’t be an issue with Higuain.

pretty good punt by Chelsea as he can't be much worse than Morata

I think Sarri's doing really well considering they probably need to upgrade a few players

More importantly, it'll let Hazard play in his favorite position ..

Spurs it is then...

No shit. They used the Pogba money to buy him for 94m Euros from Napoli to win them the CL. Scored ~20 goals a season for them which was a big drop from his highest tally at Napoli (36). Once they got Ronaldo, kicked him to the curb (first Milan, now Chelsea).

Will be amazed if he scores more than 8 in the league.

Agüero is super quick for the first few meters. That kind of quickness matters more than how fast you run over the course of 20 meters. Higuaín is not as fast in those short bursts as the top strikers in England.

Don't you think they have stalled a bit after their wonderful start? Most Chelsea games seem boring these days, no idea how you can enjoy watching them at the moment.

They're certainly not the finished article by all means.

Higuain definitely improves them. That's how terrible Morata's been, and to a lesser extent, Giroud.

This. More importantly Morata doesn't even want to play for us or be in London imo, having him around will be bad for the rest of the squad. Hence probably going to Madrid and taking a paycut to do it.

Higuain knows Sarri well, need to get him settled and in shape and I think he'll do well.

Board don't like signing older players. No other options in the market though. Deal makes sense if it goes through.

I hope to God this turns out like the way the Sanchez deal has turned out for us

Player plays great football the previous season, due to transfer issues and general disconcert he plays shite for half a season but people pin that down to him being unhappy. He gets a move in January... and then proceeds to prove that his earlier dip in form was actually the start of a decline

Go on Higuain, make history repeat itself.

Agreed with the bolded bits - we had di Maria as well, who seemingly wasn't happy in Manchester either. (the LvG effect, aside).

There's a benefit of Higuain knowing Sarri, and Hazard moving to his more dangerous area on the left. Like you said, the key will be how quickly he settles and adapts to the pace of the EPL. But I really cannot see him being worse than what you have, so there's an automatic improvement there.

And the market for top CF's seem shot at the moment, compared to the strikers who dominated the last 5-10 years - Lewa, Suarez, Cavani, Ibra, Benzema, Aguero etc., of which I'd say Higuain was possibly one of - albeit I've never forgiven him for his big misses in some finals  (I know, all strikers miss chances).

Also what happened with the Torres.

Now, hindsight is good but thank feck we didn't go for Morata. Lukaku has proved himself being of some use atleast

Higuains in pretty bad goalscoring form it seems, 1 goal in 12 matches since October, and he's not exactly known for abilities other than scoring goals. Seems a bit of a gamble this

There is definitely more to Higuain's game than just scoring goals, for me that is why I truly wanted him. His movement and link up play will help the likes of Hazard and Pedro a lot.
