Champions Trophy

Tendulkar bottles it again. India are 75/1 after 17 overs.

I'd love to see Australia get knocked out. However, this would please Donaldo, Vijay, Amol and co.

To be fair Dumpstar, Pakistans batting looks awful everytime ball moves a little. Its like like us in the 90s. Not that we're much better, i dont think we can beat Australia tomorrow. New Zealand i think might win the competition again.

Problem is we have batsmen with lots of talent that can make a difference. With Inzi back we have a killer middle order (Younis, Yousef, Inzi) in any form of the game. Its just the laissez faire attitude of our players that makes me sick.

India's batting order is the weakest I've seen for years. Sehwag is woefully out of form (though did well today). Mongia, Dravid, Raina and Kaif should not be anywhere near a one day cricket team. They effectively made a 280/290 score into an easily reachable 249 (and credit for that goes to Dhoni alone). Tendulkar has too much responsibility on his shoulders and when he scores big...you guessed it...India usually lose.

You're missing Yuvraj Singh and Dhoni/Pathan are your only hopes. Not enough for the world cup I'm afraid. Not that we're going to get a sniff of a chance without Asif/Shoaib either.

My prediction: South Africa to beat Australia in the final of the ICC Trophy.

Honestly thats a very biased view of everything. Pakistan arent doing much better either. I doubt Asif and Shoaib would have helped you avoid that miserable batting effort.

We have problems. I can see that. The batting is just a small blip, it will end. My bigger worry is that Chappel is going nowhere with this team. Wright had an upward curve for most of his spell, and as soon at it was evident that the slope was curving the wrong way and wasnt changing direction any time soon, he quit. Chappel for me, is too much hype and not enough results, and he simply isnt getting the best out of his players. We've actually taken two steps back since his first few months in charge. And thats a sign of things not working.

I am always optimistic with Indian cricket. I know we've got talent few teams can match. The batsman will come good, Sachin has been excellent, Dravid will get back in form, if Sehwag doesnt perform we have a lot of talent waiting in the wings. Raina is actually quite a talented kid, just too young and full of nerves. Yuvraj is developing into a top batsman, and i expect Dhoni and Pathan to get better and better with the bat. Same goes for the bowling, theres enough talent. But i just wonder whether the setup isnt working. Since Chappel took over a few key cogs have sort of lost their effectiveness, either its time for change or a huge wake up call. We were battering teams in one dayers just a few months back.

To be honest, the world cup could be anyones. Theres a long time to go and while right now India and Pakistan look terrible, i expect both to pick up form when the time comes. If it doesnt, once again we look to Sachin to single handidly do miracles.

I dont live in Delhi. Lara loves India. He called us India the real home of cricket. And he said he was a mere mortal compared to Sachin. Right on both counts. Good thing for Lara that we agree on most things.

Decent effort by the Black Caps to restrict Australia to 240 in the first innings

New Zealand will win it. Trust me :)

Well, hit me with a surprise stick NZ didn't make it. What a surprise.

Like I said before: SA WI to beat Aus in the final. :p

nice edit there, dumpstar.

looks like the two teams that beat india are in the final. WI are really looking like a solid team now.

I'm getting deja vu here. WI are looking complete and solid, capable of beating Australia, yet still doubts of being all out for less than a hundred runs still linger.

Pakistan were exactly the same in the 1999 world cup in England. They beat Australia in the very first game threatening Australia's place in the next rounds. But Aus bounced back culminating in Pakistan's humiliating defeat in the final where we only made 120 odd all out.

Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself. I'd love a West Indies victory now. Gayle deserves it.

Everything depends on the start WI get. Gayle, Chandrapaul and Sarwan are the key. Once you get through the top the quality of their batting gets signficantly worse unlike the likes of Australia who are strong in every aspect.

I'm not sure who i want to win.

I think the Aussies will cruise. They seem to thrive in high pressure scenarios.
Ponting to get a century.

Deja vu my ar*e!!! This was a 100% premonition! :D

As i said their middle order is weak. Gayle was magificent.
