Champions Trophy

Sri Lanka have almost beaten NZ. The qualifiers seem to have helped them gain some form. They have a great chance to win it.

The Indian lad playing for NZ (Patel) seems pretty useful.

What was up with the pitch today?
ICC apparently sent their pitch expert over to get it sorted with that 'superglue' bit. From the little i saw it looked to be playing pretty well, with good consistant bounce and pace. Still Nz got out for so little.

Pitch played well, I suppose the three local teams have a major advantage in knowing the conditions - I have realised more than ever during this tournament why India do not produce speedsters. The bounce is so true and the ball really sits up begging to be hit from the quickies. You need to make the batsman work for his runs on these tracks, medium pacers and spinners will rule this tournament...

Useless stadiums, sub standard pitches...has there ever been a time when India's managed to host something without completely spazzing it up?We're almost as bad as England at this...

I hope some firecrackers hit some of those Aussie cnuts today.

I'm in a particularly vengeful mood, for some reason.

The pitch was wierd, just looked at how many wides SL bowled in the first ten overs, the ball was doing very strange things. As a kiwi im pissed off by our performance, this was our chance to gurantee our place in the semis after a brilliant first game against SA, but our performance was abysmal, and goes much further past the pitch, really disapointed by our batting in particular. Jeetan Patel though, is gonna be a world class off spinner in the next few years, hes bowled very well so early into his international career.

Right now Im watching England vs Aussie, England have started well and are 20 without loss from 5 overs, so lets hope you can knock Aussie right off their perch.

The BBC.

"Harmison is lucky to be given out, a lifter from Johnson appearing to hit his shoulder rather than his bat. I feel like locking myself in my room, putting some Smiths on the cassette player and writing some melancholic verse. This is really, really miserable. "

To be fair, this just isnt a proper reflection of what recent Indian pitches have been like. This tournament theres been a real issue with pitches although we've had two cracking games. I think it has as much to with teams being so used to flat batting tracks, and the lack of patience to grind out a proper innings.

In recent times the focus has been on pitches better for the quickes and statistics will prove that. And the quickes are coming through. Zaheer, Nehra, Pathan  , Rp Singh, Sreesanth and Munaf over the last few years. We already have quite a lot of quality in that department and its only going to get better. This tournament as i said hasnt been a good reflection but i think it has more to do these few locations chosen. Like bombay where the rain ruined things and the curator seemed to be some clueless fecker who needed the Icc stepping in. Mohali, Eden Gardens, those are the stadiums that define Indian cricket. Its sad we dont use our best sporting arenas properly.

Hey no insulting Irfan.
Munaf and Sreesanth have also been really impressive. Although the former really should be bowling quicker, his accuracy is incredible. This is one aspect of Indian cricket we should be excited about.

Hoo Haa India Aaaa...ok i cant.

Singh's the man. The rest will fall by the wayside. Munaf is pretty decent too. And I'm not saying this because he's from Sultan's neck of the woods.

Pathan pisses over the rest. RP is a bit of a girl.

I suspect he's gay...and so is Pathan. They keep touching each other.

So that part about Pathan pissing over the rest could possibly be true.

Effeminate you might say...actually anyone who plays cricket is gay.feck your stupid fecking shades.Wimps.

Thank god for that. The panel have been creaming themselves over Lanka all tournament long.

NZ beat Pakistan by 52 runs and are consequently the first team in the tournament to qualify for the semis.
Nice win but Bond and Styris are injured.

Styris, an ass strain

West Indies need 53 runs of 54 balls to beat India.

I'm going to the final in Mumbai, dreaming of either India or Pakistan going through to the final.

Hope the spazzers don't let me down...

India have to beat Australia now, which will be very difficult.

doubt if either of the two will make it. still, should be worth it.

That was magnificently shambolic performance.

Your batsmen need to concentrate more on their cricket and less on outside interferences.Your bowlers lost the plot after picking up the early wickets and Younis Khan is very easily the most inept captain in the tournament.

Hopefully your test teams will be equally shit. That performance was pure comedy though...

That catch from Boucher was something special.

Not possible. All subcontinent teams now out.

I just knew we should've had Bangladesh to represent the region.

Doesn't matter if Asif and Shoaib are somehow reinstated to the team. I still don't believe in the country's tactics/ethics. I thought the introduction of Woolmer would be the turning point, but that's proven to be moot as the nation's ethics/attitude needs to change which is a job too far even for Bob.

And we all know Imran Khan, whom we badly need, won't touch the coaching job with a bargepole while Pakistan and Pakistani cricket in particular remains so corrupt.

Australia and SA to rule cricket for another 10-15 years at least. Someone needs to break this stranglehold or, like field hockey, this sport will whither into insignificance.

To be fair Dumpstar, Pakistans batting looks awful everytime ball moves a little. Its like like us in the 90s. Not that we're much better, i dont think we can beat Australia tomorrow. New Zealand i think might win the competition again.
