So will anyone be following this?

Sri Lanka have won their first 'qualifier'.

Definitely following it, but only because I follow Pakistan wherever they play anyway. Hope the competition will be taken more seriously by teams and fans this year.

Last year I had two tickets to the Champions Trophy final in case Pakistan made it past West Indies. They didn't, but luckily England did. Great I thought, that will earn me some money. I couldn't give the tickets away for even half the face value for two hours outside Oval tube station!!!

Finally this tedious qualifying stage seems to be coming to an end. The Icc are rubbish at what they do. West Indies Sri Lanka Bangladesh and Zimbabwe kicking off the tournament and putting everyone to sleep.

disagree there, the qualifying games were decent and it was great to see the Windies and SL get into some form before the tournament, although truth betold SL are probaly one of the best teams at the tournament and its ironic how they were forced to qualify. Anyway should be a great tournament, although I'm fearing the worst for my NZ team:( , SA first and a bad loss could screw us for the rest of the tournament.

none of the groups are easy. just about all the teams will have a tough game at some point or the other. hoping for a few upsets.

I doubt India can qualify to the semis.

chappel's not going anywhere before the world cup. but i really wish they'd settle down on a starting eleven and the right batting order instead of trying everyone in every slot.

That's not too concerning for me, you need to experiment.

It's the fast bowling department which chapple needs to seriously sort...

We've done pretty well in all the champions trophys so far.

Im not too confident of this one. We're going into this tournament with some pretty poor performances behind us. And Kiwifan, thing is, having to qualify has actually helped West Indies and Sri Lanka, which is ridiculous. Now they've had a good few games to get everyone in form and get used to the conditions while the rest of the teams would be a bit rusty and thrown straight into the action.

So far so good for SL, hope they continue the same form.

Hopefully it will be a cracking tournament.

England 45/4 now. Great start for India.

One of my favourites to win the tournament, they have hit on just the right formula at the right time - momentum is on their side.

The format is totally rubbish. Last WC Dr Ali Bacher and his cronies learned you cannot have a successful world cup if you increase the number of matches and teams as its always tough to maintain the pull for more than five weeks.

Sachin looked awesome in the highlights.

Pakistan are 145/4 after 30 overs chasing 253 against Sri Lanka.

Got out to a ball that kept low as well.
Intersting that Sachin got critisised so much earlier this year, whereas Dravid and Dhoni havent scored a 50 for 11 and 10 games respectively, and no ones making a fuss about it.

jeez Sultan, you cursed us ;)

All credit to Razzaq though, an excellent display of batting.

We have to win our next two matches now which can get tough.

Sorry Roon...

Amazing how the Indian crowd supported Pakistan...

Pakistan looked good last night, very United. I don't think they can win this tournament due to the fact their bowling will not be strong enough due to the two players who were caught taking drugs.
