Champions League Semi Finals (24th April - 2nd May)

Nah not just Ronaldo. Marcelo, Carvajal, Modric and Kroos were a key part in most of these CL wins.

People have been talking about Marcelo's defensive side since his emergence on the scene but he's always the best left back in the world but he plays as he's left winger. Football have moved on and fullbacks now are more evaluated on their offensive side more than just setting, cutting the back and throwing it forward aimlessly. If you can't attack, sprint, cross and provide dangerous output as a fullback you'll never make it at modern football.
None of them were won by half arsedly strolling back into your position which is the point here.

the thing with Madrid is that they have quality all over the pitch. Ronaldo has been silent so far, but it doesn't matter when Marcelo is more dangerous than half the attackers. and if Marcelo is quiet, then Ronaldo wakes up. and if both of them are invisible, then Isco will step up. and if none of that is working, Ramos will save them in the end. they have too much matchwinners in their squad. goals can come from every position.

Where the windup? Someone here wanted to argue that United somehow had a better season than Liverpool „because we are second in the league“ and that nobody gives a damn about Liverpool teaching the semis. And sorry, but that’s not how it works. People will remember this Liverpool side, nobody will remember United’s Mourinho of this season.

Nobody gives a feck, nobody will remember. People will remember your exit against Sevilla though.

The vast majority of the people on the caf "gives a feck and will remember". As for the second part about people remembering the defeat against Sevilla, that was definitely an attempt to wind up, it had nothing to do with our position in the PL. Stop wuming and enjoy your evening. Cheers

Asensio is probably the biggest game changer they have. Seems like every time he comes on he does something to turn the game in their favour.

You're entitled to your view but Madrid know all the flaws of having Marcelo as the left back and have made peace with it to benefit from his offensive side.

If you haven’t followed the discussion, don’t comment on it. Your impression is 100% false.

Anyone else shocked by James Rodriguez performance? I had no idea he could work that hard

Sleepwalking through the first half

Bayern aren't going to keep missing sitters all game long, we need to wake the feck up

Even if Bayern score another in the second half, and contain Madrid to just the one goal, I'm not sure they'll be able to hold on in the second leg with a slim 2-1 advantage.

That full back was way up the pitch leaving his flank open for Bayern’s goal too.
Its intentional from the part of the coach. Its not really possible for a full back carry so many weight in the offensive aspect of his team and at same time be great in the defense. So what you do is to use another players to cover him when he is up in the pitch because it worths the risk.

If it was not intentional Zidane would just tell him to keep his position in the back four.

He showed glimpses of it at Real too(his 1st season only though).

I recall him playing well in his 1st clasico and away at Anfield and was all over the field. Did noticeably tail off after his 1st season though.

I’ve seen that Kimmich goal a few times now and each time I’m more and more convinced he lopped it and got lucky. If you watch his head movement and eyes straight after it he looks like he briefly starts to look across to the 6 yard box.

Yep. Actually looking back at it it I think Casemiro should be the one blamed. He didn't the track the run of Kimmich and realise the danger quick enough. He had to cover for Marcelo there. Marcelo attacking contribution is vital so they have to compensate for that.

Yep, he's been great. Looks like a completely different player.
He doesn't he was always amazing and worked his ass off

I've no idea why Zidane and Benitez didn't like him
