Champions League - Round of 16 - 2nd Legs 5/6/12/13 March

We are quite a few years off challenging really and will need to get the correct manager after Xavi but the youngsters look very bright. Of the under 20 y.o players in world football currently, Yamal* and Mainoo really stand out as footballers that just have 'it' with great decision making beyond their years.

*just hope we don't make the same mistakes we did with Pedri
Yamal is insane. That young CB is quality aswell. Hopefully the draws kind to you. Think you can beat any other the teams that are playing tonight. The other teams that are already through will be tricky.

Produce similar to what they displayed against Porto over two legs then absolutely.

Madrid were outplayed by Leipzig at home and weren't objectively the better team in Germany either. It doesn't mean much.

Arsenal are the 3rd or 4th favorite to win the CL.

Wonder if we can get another penalty series…

You aren't seriously comparing Real Madrid whom over the last decade in this competition have found ways to win more knock out ties than they lost with Arsenal who showed last night why it's been a struggle for them to reach the last 8 of the champions league for the last 14 years. Its 15 years since they reached the semi final and 18 years since they reached their one and only final. Good luck to anyone that wants to part with their cash on them.

Bakayoko is woeful today for PSV. Think he was mentioned as a potential target for the right wing, but i really don't see it with him..

Useless comparison for both sides as players who were part of those teams aren't there anymore, or few have remained in the case of Madrid. I don't see how 2009 Arsenal has anything to do with 2024 Arsenal. Or 2014 Madrid with 2024 Madrid. Or even 2018 Madrid.

Sure, experience can be a factor for both teams, as I mentioned yesterday in regards of Arsenal struggling vs Porto, but in terms of talent and ability, they are still one of the best teams left in the competition.

Did Madrid play at their best vs Leipzig? No. Did Arsenal play at their best vs Porto? Also no.

Saying that they are unlikely to make it through the QFs, though, is nonsense. They'd be favorites against every team bar City, probably Madrid, and maybe Bayern.

Peter Drury is already unbearable as a main match commentator in general, but Ray Hudson as a colour commentator is even worse. God forbid that anyone ever put those two in the same booth.

And not 100% sure they would be favourites against PSG either.

Well, they were 3rd or 4th favorites before the Ro16 draw, close behind Madrid and Bayern, but comfortably ahead of Inter, PSG, etc. and have gone on a really good run in the PL since then. They'll be 3rd or 4th again.

According to bookies Arsenal are indeed third favorite after City and Madrid, with some of the bookies pricing Arsenal the same as Madrid, joint second. A bit ridiculous odds if you ask me and no way I'd say they are as likely as Madrid to win it.

Are PSV struck with the same bad habit of walking the ball into the goal? Just shoot the fecker already!

Arsenal are more likely to beat City than Madrid are, if you ask me.

Looks like Rojofiam will be left shocked if Arsenal make their exit in the next round. If he has money on them I hope for his sake it's was a small amount.

They were bad against Porto and also not very impressive in maybe the weakest CL group.
They are a talented but inexperienced team that so far couldnt translate their PL performances into the CL.

No one outside England or die hard PL fans would rank Arsenal 3rd for winning the CL.

Dortmund gone sleep second half
This is probably the worst Dortmund team in the last 10 years (maybe besides Stögers time), the first 30 minutes today were unusually good.

Inter pretty content to just move the ball around, makes for a pretty drab viewing.

I mentioned some of these things myself yesterday. They struggled vs Porto, even though experienced, elite teams can also sometimes get involved in very close ties against weaker teams like them. Happened to Ferguson's United sides several times, as well as other European heavyweights over the last few years.

I'm really interested to see how Arsenal would deal mentally with a huge opponent in the next round, like Madrid, or Bayern, because other than Jesus, Havertz and Zinchenko, none of their players have been part of a deep CL run...but the talent is there.
