Champions League Round of 16 (16th Feb - 17th Mar)

What a joke City are. Full rested team walking through another tie

If Vinicious had some sort of end product, he'd be quite the player.

Benzema scores. Atalanta keeper with a shit pass straight at Modric, who lays it sideways to Benzema.

It's a shame how Gladbach's season completely collapsed with Rose's move to Dortmund. They looked really good in a very difficult group, playing lightning quick counterattacks. I don't understand how a manager's departure can zap the confidence entirely out of a team. He's not even gone yet!

In the first leg they were completely dominated but they never even tried going forward whenever they did have a chance to do so

Have the twats that be brought in a rule change again that none of us know about?

So many instances of refs blowing for half time when one team is in a great position.

Depth is a major issue, too. They have been paying for it all season. Rose's situation added mental issues to the mix and that just seems to have broken them.

Seeing the kind of pass it was obviously a mistake, but he blew his whistle before it was even played, so it's not like he was deliberately robbing Atalanta.

That was the most Vinicius thing ever.

Brilliant defensive work, brilliant close control and dribbling...misses absolute sitter. Vinicius encapsulated.

If only Vini could shoot

Still, he's having a really good game so far

Unbelievable buffoonery to even foul Vicinius, everyone knows he could never have possibly scored

Apparently technically the correct call(even according to italian tv) but man what a dumb rule. The second hit(the one in the box) is completely uninfluential

the second touch is clearly inside and is the reason he trips.
I disagree personally. He's already falling because of the first touch. The second hit is irrelevant imo. But the rule doesn't care about that apparently so it's technically the correct call

I thought so too but they showed a replay from another angle where you could see clearly that there was no contact from the first intervention

Vinicius is a bit like Bruno, in that he does so much pressing and defensive work that even on his bad days he's hard to really criticise.

Has there even been a period in football with such a wide ranging acknowledgement of unclear rules?

Handball the obvious one, but so many edge cases that fans can't follow.

Anyway, Atalanta isn't playing bad in the end but they all feel somehow out of their depth tonight.

No? From the replays both contacts were pretty clear. First he clips his foot with his left outside the box, then clips with the right inside while vini is already in the air

Big chance for Zapata then huge double chance for Karim

Vini out. I don't much like it, Vini's been great tonight and deserved a goal.

Eh, we're counted, need a fresh Vini for next game anyways :D

Yup, from all the other angles it looked 100% like there was contact but the last replay was a perfect frontal angle from the end of the pitch, and you could see that Toloi stomped his foot on the ground juuuust on the side of Vinicius' one.

Atalanta have been pretty disappointing so far i must say

Edit: just as i write that huge chance for Duvan :D Courtois though
