Champions League Round of 16 (15th Feb - 16th Mar)

Klopp’s subs changed the game, while Inzaghi’s passive solidity did not ignite any fire and they crumbled.
Probably just a case of fresh legs, Inter’s players are all about 35.

Liverpool have better players. It's as simple as that

Salah's was a deflection which totally wrongfooted the keeper. Ferminho scores that 1 in 10 at most. They have won but not convincingly

At least we winning and without conceding! Inter were good but not that good. Let's not go overboard. Don't remember becker having to make a save!

Good game for an away team

Obviously over the top but this performance by Liverpool is like a away game in Europe by us under SAF. Not clinical but job done
Agree with that. We were dominated for periods of the game but also had good spells even though we didn’t play very well tonight. Didn’t get into much trouble though imo, partly thanks to Inter’s terrible decision making. Away at the Serie A leaders and going back to Anfield with a 0-2 lead, can’t complain. Like you say, job done and move on.

Serie A is a second grade league nowadays. Inter are not a great side, said a lot they brought on two failed Man Utd players.

Liverpool and their long balls and set piece goals. They’re like a sup’d up version of Stoke.

Inter pressed well and with Thiago and Elliot in the middle Liverpool were getting over run. Inter didn’t create enough proper chances. Once Liverpool put Henderson and Diaz on Liverpool had energy to match Inter and they started taking control. Inter’s chance had gone. Inter deflated once the first goal went in. Special credit to Vidal who is still a total nuisance and shithouse.

It's just money that though isn't it? Remember early 90's when Serie A was the must see league. All the top players were going there.

The PL is a juggernaut that the rest of Europe can't contain.

Yeah, that tracks. Been the story of their season against good sides
They were very solid, pinned Liverpool's FBs down and didn't let them play. Where Inzaghi failed is to react to Klopp's subs which changed the game. I guess that's the end of the road for them in this CL.

Inter are not Seie A leaders. And they've only won 1 in 6 games against the Serie A top 5 this season. And of course, the whole top 5 of Serie A is not worth that much in Europe currently. They are all decent teams, but none of them is expected to make a CL semifinal.

There’s no coming back for Inter now. Truth is their forwards let them down big time, Dzecko is just too old and slow, he makes Maguire look like Eugine Bolt.

Yep, that’s half the story… the other half is Inzaghi being overcautious at Inter and underperforming one notch.

Bad enough that every year we have to watch City vs Liverpool for the league, now it's the Champions League too.

Bring on the fecking Super League.

At least he (Dzeko) is still better than that Donkey Lukaku who cost Chelsea £95m+ plus £350k+ a week to be absolutely average when even given golden chances time and time again.

If one of Bayern or Paris can get all of their best players fit when they face Pool and/or City then we will have a match. Other than that, I think they are both much better equipped than everyone else.

The changes that Klopp could bring in tonight, Keita, Firmino, and Diaz won it for him.

Klopps teeth came from outer space. There's no way anything originating from this planet is that white.

Also not the achievement it once would have been. The Spanish and Italian leagues are a pale shadow of their former selves. And the PL has never been stronger.
It’s a achievement in itself as it’s saying Liverpool are one of the sides that are elite at the moment.
But in CL history before this season going 6/6 in the group was only done 7 times.
This season 3 teams did it. Bayern, Ajax and Liverpool.
The difference between the best 4/5 teams and the rest is huge

It is absolutely money, yes - but the level of the Italian league is not the same as England, Spain, Germany.

I would say Italy at the moment is close to the German league.
Yes they don’t have a Bayern but teams from 2-7th are close

Also the main annoyance for me is not how good City and Liverpool are it’s how good there managers are.
While we struggle getting a top manager and still in doubt over who it is in the summer. Are rivals have the best 2 in the world.
Klopp subs changed the game tonight and Pep after last night in post match when asked if it was perfect performance he started tutting and saying no
