Champions League Round of 16 (13th Feb - 14th Mar)

Allegri turned Spurs into a David Moyes team, tactical genius.
Don't know if genius is the word, but when you do two substitutions and score twice in the following few minutes, it's pretty close. I would say Pochettino wasn't ‘reactive’ enough for his own sake. We complain about that with Mourinho, but he justified not putting Rashford against Chelsea because he needed to react to Conte's move.

The difference in defending was quite clear. Look at that 2nd Dybala goal, Juve would have never been that open if they had 30 minutes left to hold on to a result.

I'd understand thinking they got lucky if this didn't happen time and time again. They did the same thing to Lazio during the weekend

Juventus being lucky is ridiculous. Vertonghen took two tries at Costa's legs before bringing him down and 3-4 officials did nothing.

I've been banging on the Allegri drum for ages. Conte said that Juventus didn't have enough money to compete in the CL, then Allegri came in and has reached two CL finals losing to Madrid and Barcelona (two ridiculously good teams). He's a top manager in my opinion.

Juventus aren't getting further than the quarters this season I'm sure. They're the team everyone will want to face. Spurs bottled it as usual.

well I hope we get your team, it will be surely a walk in the park for you guys but ehi where is the fun otherwise. Always better to play a plastic club with no history and just money like PSG or City than a real club like MU or Bayern

They failed to hold on to a result in the first leg.
It was a free kick that tied it up in Turin, and not when the whole tie was on the line. Tottenham just had to defend for 25-30 minutes and they were through, it’s inexcusable to have massive gaps at the back like Dybala exposed in that situation. Tottenham did really well in the first half, but they were outclassed in the 2nd.

Found some other fun DVD on the net and worked on it a bit. :)

I don't know to be fair. Both hard workers, both good dribblers. Son has more of an eye for goal but Park is better from deeper. Although I could be wrong, I guess I just see the plaudits for Son, well deserved too, and think Park was highly underrated as a footballer by all including a lot of our fanbase.
Son’s dribbling is hit or miss for me (probably because he takes more risks in attacking areas) but yea, one’s a forward/wide man, while the other was utilized primarily in midfield. Son’s purpose is to score goals/create chances while Park was an engine in midfield breaking up/linking up play and coming up with the odd big goal. Agreed, both are two of the best Korean/Asian players to have played in England though.

Congrats mate. You didn't beat mighty Sporting away, but we gave you good preparation for this phase :p

Hi there, many thanks, hope you enjoyed the game. :)

This tie was brutal as a fan to be fair. Spurs have the highest ceiling I have been seeing at European level since Allegri started this cycle with us in 2015. We just scraped through in the end, same as the 1-1 against Sporting away last November at group stages ;), but this is Juve’s historical ‘fino alla fine’ (until the very end) trademark.

QF target achieved, let’s see what happens next.

Big words coming from Juventus considering they are the ultimate bottlers in this competition.

that is sadly true ....although we usually bottle it at the last game....I think Chiellini was actually thinking of our history too in facts

I don't support city . Just got the unfortunate tag.

I knew Spurs would feck it at 1-0. No way were they going to knock Juve out.

You have a better chance vs Liverpool IMO. They are also defensively naive like Spurs so you'll have a lot of joy against them. City will be too strong I feel.

After Roma/Shakhtar my next preference is Juventus. They do know how to handle the big games (lots of experience) but I'd just like to see legs against legs. Mainly Mane and Salah's against Chiellini and Barzagli's.

Edit: you do realise City's wonderful team conceded two goals in the this round against zero goals that Liverpool gave away?

Costa is amazingly dangerous. Like Sterling. Robertson hasn't let him out of his pocket yet, promise he will let him out before City win the league at Old Trafford. ;)

Dybala and Higuain have about as much pace as Matip running backwards.

Juventus would be one of the worst sides you lot could get. They’d just force Mane and Salah wide and make your midfield pass through them.

Liverpool featured a better team, with more starters, than City.

Saw this on f365. Is it reaching or a valid tactic?

Yet that only makes the comeback even more impressive. Allegri made two substitutions in three minutes rather than both at the same time, intending to cause confusion in Tottenham ranks as they figured out the first switch just as the second was happening. It was a strategical masterstroke from an oft-maligned coach. Juventus scored twice in the five minutes following the second change.

"I said to my players that Liverpool were a top team, they are really strong, but they are a Formula 1 car. If you put a Formula 1 car in London in traffic, the Formula 1 car will not run very fast," Carlos Carvalhal told Sky Sports :D

Obviously its easier to close your eyes when talking out of your arse so you don't get shit in them. :)

Liverpool "featured" the world reknowned clowns Lovren and Moreno for a whole 90 minutes.

they are definetly stronger and Allegri has never won against Guardiola in his career, but it should be a fun match. I just hope to avoid Barca and Roma in case they go thru

Honestly, not joking one bit, I had to google who he was and who he managed. So you're playing the Swansea card. Well played sir, well played. That's put the 100+ goals Liverpool have scored so far all into perspective. We were stopped by Swansea a hundred years ago (or thereabouts). I doff my cap.

Allow me to be shallow for a bit.

Ta ra Spurs.

Not so shallow.

If Liverpool get Juventus at any point for it's going to be weird for the obvious reason. I have a feeling we will get them. I hope Sevilla beat United too as I couldn't handle the thought of playing you again in Europe.

It was more about the significance of what he said than that one result. I wasn't criticizing Liverpool, just that I think Juve would be a bad match up for you guys.

You're imagining the pace of Salah, Firmino and Mane running past Juve's old defenders when they'd most likely not get the chance to do that.

But, the whole calling everyone bottlers thing becomes tiring at least to me.

Yeah, Juve were horrendous for 85% of that tie but it'll be completely ignored now.

Just hope we steer clear of the English teams. I think we'll get Barca next round. Either way, will be great to host a CL quarter final at Anfield again.

Yeah I'm similar. Definitely rather have a foreign team as it's too nerving and at the same time boring getting an English side. The last team I'd want next round is United, rather see someone else knock them out then we knock those out. My order preference is this: Shakhtar, Sevilla, Roma, Juventus, Barcelona/Real/Bayern, City, United (assuming Barcelona and Bayern go through). Lets hope for the luck of the draw, any of the first 3 I'd be very confident we could make it past.

For Juventus to "stop Mane, Salah and Firmino" (say that out loud, go on. You'll get a shuddering feeling while I have a smile) Juve will have to drop Dybala AND Higuain to bring in defensive midfielders. Leaving Costa on his own up front. Don't forget we have Ox who is as every bit fast as our front three. That's a feck load of defending for 90....oh no....180 minutes. You make Chiellini and Barzagli sound like some sprightly youngsters. Those two's combined age alone is probably 80!! Maybe they should bring Maldini and Baresi back from retirement. That will stop us for sure.

As for Carlos, the old swine, he was just milking the fact he stopped us from scoring a hundred years ago (honestly, it feels that long ago now). Its his prerogative and obviously he's going to make his CV look as sexy as possible. What you want to hear are other managers saying the same thing after following Carlos' super duper masterplan.

I wouldn't even fancy playing Chelsea. Would just be an anti-climax and a bus parking fest vs them or Utd.

Like Benitez the weekend just gone. Or Moyes the week before that.... oh

We've stopped Salah many times before. Benatia (30, in his prime) starts ahead of Barzagli. ;)

Or the Porto manager who hadn't conceded much at home domestically or in Europe before we put 5 past them. We must have scored 100 goals in one game exactly in the league before the Formula 1 Car masterplan was taken up for the remaining 30 odd games we've played. :)

Obviously, we're both biased in favour of our teams. Let's ask the neutral (ha, not likely they hate our guts) Utd fans on here what they think of Mane, Salah and Firmino's chances against Benatia, Chiellini and Barzagli.

Barca - Bayern
Man city - Real Madrid
Juve - Liverpool
Man United - Roma

Juve - Man Utd
Barca - RM

RM - MU final. :D
