Champions League Round of 16 (13th Feb - 14th Mar)

Credit to Juve, Spurs in the first game had Juve hemmed in at their own ground. Tonight was much more even in possession.

Spurs at 1-0 and the amount of yellow cards Juve had tonight should've really sealed the win.

Regarding people wanting Spurs to win. I'd wish them well and would like see more English teams progress but at the same time I'd like United to play other European teams as a break from the Premier League. Would be nice if Spurs went through and Liverpool lost but it wasn't to be.

Spurs officially departed tonight.

Sure did.

I thought they were completely crap over both legs, Spurs gifted them 2 shitty goals tonight, they barely got out of their half. Juve was awful, smash and grab and it’s very best.

It's not luck when they do it over and over again. It's their experience at this stage.

Higuain puts his penalty away and Juve would have been 3-0 up in Turin, they fell apart in the first game but they weren't crap. They had more chances today than Spurs had in Italy.

Juve were not impressive in football terms over the two legs but fair fecks to their attitude.

Poor second half showing by Spurs, who have been extremely careless in both matches as they were pretty much the better side. Davies cost them big time. I can't say I'm happy seeing Juventus go through, a thouroughly uninspiring and at times thuggish side. I could've done without having to watch them again in this year's Champions League. Surely they'll have a few suspended players in the next round? Could be interesting for their next opponent.

As for Spurs, they have to consider this a learning experience. The first lesson is you can't afford to have a player as poor as Davies in the side and expect to get anything from these ties. The second is a lesson of menality and fighting spirit, which they still lack despite an admirable comeback in the first leg. Look at that late chance with the header on the post by Kane for example. Lamela waited for the ball to drop and that gave the Juve defender time enough to clear it. What the feck was he thinking? It's on the line, just launch yourself at it with everything you've got and bundle it over the line!

Juve came to defend and nick an odd goal. Spurs goal changed the tactics but they knew how to respond . Brilliant game by Juve.

Didn't mind who won. I'd rather see Spurs doing well than any other English side in the cup apart from us but also feel Juve might be a better potential match for us and if they aren't I think they as a club are one of the teams I'd be fairly happy for if they won it given the amount of finals they have lost since the last win.

First one you've seen?

For one....Spurs was better in the SAME tie.

Very rare to see a team look dead and buried and turn it around the way they did tonight.

Spurs weren't better in the tie either.

Don’t agree with that at all we must have watched a completely different game.

Spurs in Italy was attacking for 80 minutes non stop, Juve was holding on all game. Tonight they couldn’t get out of their own half again, they did literally nothing until they got the first goal after 60 mins, Dybala got the winning goal I think he had 2 touches all game before that.

A young defender (Sanchez) got played twice which cost them the game.

Wow. Spurs were quite simply the better team by a huge distance and lost.

Don't you think there's a chance that's more to do with our flawed idea of what a better team is than anything else? Juve created the best chance of the game and took control of the match when they needed to. Spurs put Juve under a lot of pressure but they didn't do a whole lot with that. When they had the opportunity to take control, they never did.

The amount of times Juve have done this would suggest they're comfortable with the other team playing that way. We intuitively think the team that has most of the ball and makes most of the plays are better. But when most of those plays are insignificant and manageable then it does make you question whether you're looking at things the right way. I reckon Juve see it very differently. They're killers.

Juve a good tie or not if Utd get past Sevilla. They look vulnerable, are on the ropes for long periods then find a way when you think you have them.

Credit to the Juve coach for going for it (when he had to, really) but bit fortunate his new tactical set-up was rewarded with 2 goals straightaway.

Spurs will obviously feel they chucked it away from 3-2 & having been the better team for the majority of the tie. Not all of it though, because Juve scored their other 2 goals in the early part of the 1st leg isn't it? Seems a long time ago now, but proved quite handy in the final count-up.

Less popular in their own city than the local team? Supported by glory hunters throughout the country? Match-fixing? Are you sure about that? I tend to agree with you.

Don't worry buddy, PSG are the City of France. Financially doped up to the eyeballs, oily as feck, desperate to win the CL and with 99% cnut fans that were irrelevant less than a decade ago.

Spurs are a good team and play good football. Pochettino is clearly a decent manager.
People should remember tonight shows the difference, however.

At no point in this game did I(or many others) think Juve were done and dusted.

I(and many many many others) did with with Spurs @ Juve 2-0 Spurs.....thus better comeback.

Yup. Spurs were the better side in both legs. Juve were ruthless. They got two chances, buried both of them. That's the sign of an experienced outfit

If they were the better team they would have blown Juve out of the water. The game is about defending bravely as well. Also taking your chances. Juve didn't get many, but took them.

Spot on.

They don't get out of their half because that's how they play.

They did nothing until the first goal? They got a blatant penalty not called. They don't get forward much but when they did they were always pretty dangerous throughout the tie. In terms of chances it was even through the both games.

Really!? If Alli was there instead of Lamela, he would score, i mean

Juventus aren't getting further than the quarters this season I'm sure. They're the team everyone will want to face. Spurs bottled it as usual.

Winner of Roma/Shakhtar, Sevilla/United then Juventus.

Juventus
Liverpool
Manchester City
Real Madrid

All qualified

Bayern Munich 5:0 Besiktas
Chelsea 1:1 Barcelona
Sevilla 0:0 Manchester United
Shakhtar Donetsk 2:1 Roma

Bayern are as good as qualified. Rest are tough to call though I expect Barcelona to qualify too.

Fantastic post. People talk about Spurs 'dominating' Juve in Italy, but this was after Juve scored 2 goals. That is their strategy, they make you commit numbers and then strike.

Higuan bottled a penalty at the end of the 1st half in Italy which would have probably killed the tie.

Tasty looking last 8 if Roma and United qualify.

If I'm Allegri tonight, I'd be smug as feck and smoking a cigar on the team bus while wearing sunglasses. Especially after the comments about Spurs not being able to defend as well as Lazio.

Juve should have had a pen and even missed one in Turin.

Spurs are like England.

Play in white at Wembley.

Hugely hyped, but actually rubbish and continually crumble under any kind of pressure. Bring on the WC for more of the same.
