Champions League Quarter Finals | Chelsea vs Real (Tue) | Bayern vs City (Wed)

I just love watching Real. So calm and collected. Every single player know what to do with the ball when pressured. They just slowly move the ball forward, and suddenly they find themselve creating chances.

They very rarely get caught while holding on to the ball for too long or try something impossible. An when they do it’s usually the right players in the right situations to play risky in order to create something.

It seems more the case that they have very very good players all over the field, who is trained to comply with few and simple principles. Rather than a stringent conceptual tactical philosophy. Makes it somewhat refreshing to watch them.
I think they're one of the most "traditionally" structured top teams in terms of tactics nowadays. A fairly straightforward 4-3-3, but as you say, all the players seem proficient at receiving the ball and finding a good next pass quickly.

fantastic by Leao but N'Dombele who lost the ball ran back with no urgency. Hasn't changed off the ball at all.

AC Milan’s 4-0 win over Napoli in the league has definitely fecked them up psychologically.

Leao has been so much better than Kvara in these Napoli-Milan games.

Horrible defending by Napoli. Take him down ffs.

That said I fancy Milan more than Napoli against bigger teams. They can counter. Napoli's strat seems to be give the ball to Kvara surrounded by 3 players and have him create something.

That was the chance.

Madrid look vulnerable, even though they controlled most of the first half.

Ffffff i hate when we decide we can just sleepwalk through a game. And chelsea are really bad and couldn't score if we walked the ball for them on the line then lined up to cheer them on (case in point cucurella), but it's just stupid and needlessly risky

The Leao run was wonderful but there were 3 or 4 different players who could have fouled him but just watched him waltz by instead.

Can we just put Cucurella on gardening leave? Controls the ball 4 yards out in front of an open goal. feck me.

Milan have a losing record against "bigger teams" this season

Milan derby semi final like the good old days except they’re both fecking shite. Seriously what the hell has gone on for one of them to reach the CL final. Barely scrapping top 4 in Serie A.

So, Milan were the dark horse all along? Extremely disappointing by Napoli. Still time to turn it around.

Chelsea and Real evenly matched.

I fear for kids who listen to pundits and what their understanding of what a "hand" is. I've heard several pundits recently refer to the upper arm as "the hand" rather than arm. Napoli's goal was disallowed as the ball hit the striker's bicep.

Now Napoli decide to foul Milan on the counter. Do that earlier and they'd still be in this tie.

Lampard said this in the pre-match conference: "We have to stay in the game... not being crazy. "And then we have impact players coming off the bench that can add different things."
