Champions League Knockouts (12 Aug - 23rd Aug)

Feels very odd to be cheering for Bayern, assuming they overcome Lyon. This is the way football is going, clubs are only going to become more dislikeable from hereon out.

Posting links that prove sports-washing is effective is not going to make the people who hate PSG because it's a sports-washing project (myself included) change their minds.

A forum is not made to make people change their minds, but exchange views and experiences.

I somewhat understand since Mbappe vs anyone in a 1on1 is a missmatch.
Think it's a mouthwatering contest, personally. Both are tipped to be greats in waiting and there's the possibility this is the first of many, many encounters between them.

Kimmich is smart and positions himself well. Of course he'd get burned in a foot race, but his speed of thought and his pre-empting of actions in his vicinity will have Mbappe working hard on and off the ball.

Just makes me wonder if he thinks it'll be a stroll in the park for Mbappe like how it was written.

I'm backing PSG vs Bayern. There'll be some big mismatches on their side. Kimmich vs Mbappe, Neymar vs any of their defensive players.
this modern type of fast attackers who have brilliant technical skills are a mismatch to any defender on the planet in a 1-on-1, which is why modern style defending is based on avoiding these resp. make sure the defender is not on his own.
As about Kimmich, he isn't a defender by trade, but he's pretty fast, phsically strong, good in winning and shielding the ball, and he plays/played against the likes of Robben, Ribery, Coman, Davies, Gnabry week in week out.

If you face them up man vs. man position by position, i favour Davies/Kimmich over Bernat/Kehrer

PSG was destroyed by Bayern away and lost 3-1 end 2018.

That is largely irrelevant. Personnel has changed, Bayern have a new a coach and there are playing on a neutral pitch. Bayern will be 60% favourites if they can overcome Lyon.

Neymar + Mbappe + Di Maria is as good a frontline as you can get and this neutral avenues, WC format really suits “emotional” squads. Will make a very good final against tank Bayern.

If/When the inevitable happens and Lyon beat Bayern tonight, they’ll have beaten Juve, City, Bayern on their way to the final, 3 of the best teams in the world.
What a difficult set of opponents for them!

I like it. Supporting Lyon of course, but I do think they will get beaten by Bayern.

There is not enough time for him to steal the post. He started the post before you ended yours.
Thus it is just pure chance that they are so similar.
Great minds think alike and all that ;).

I actually didn’t see at first glance on my phone that you had made small adjustments, @Ecstatic
Clever of you to get in on the anti jinx!! :nervous:

That'd be a big boost to PSG if that's true.

Reports from today are :
- Navas : almost no pain anymore, should be back at practice tomorrow
- Verratti : no pain anymore, normal training for him

They're both expected for the final.

It's almost weird for us that our medical staff actually seems to be doing a good job lately (including Mbappé), they usually are terrible.

Omg, that feckin bellend Jan-Aage is sitting as a pundit in the german Sky broadcast, yuck

Not that I expected anything else but good to see that Flick isn't pulling a "Guardiola".

They just mentioned on tv that Bayern’s starting line up cost something like £75m

That club is seriously well run

Lyon have conceded just over 1 goal per match across the season. Maybe a warning.

those that watch french football, I though Dembele was their main striker, has he been injured recently, I know he came off the bench in last round or has he just been dropped for tactical reasons.

Stop that, please! Bayern is neither spent Juve nor neurotic City, just a tank these days. Any other result than a second-gear drubbing would be a massive surprise.

Probably wanna use him against tired legs, like last game against city.

Yeah i hope so, but i also could not imagine City losing to them, sooo.. you know ;)

He has been dropped for tactical reasons, Toko Ekambi is better for this system as he has better work rate and movement upfront even if Dembele's goal return is far better.

also what I noticed. would you be confident against them?

If the play like against Atalanta I'm very confident, if the play like against Leipzig, I'm not so confident ;)

Many blamed Leipzig for a bad game, but it's not easy to make Leipzig look that bad. As I said, I was very impressed with PSG. I rate our midfield above theirs, our back 4 as a whole above theirs (only including the fullbacks, their CBs are better than ours in my opinion), but Neymar, Mbappe and di Maria when in form... Pheeeew. I'd rate us as slight favorites maybe, but they would clearly be the best team we have to face this season.

Will Navas be back for the final?

But let's focus on Lyon first. Juventus and City already made the mistake to underestimate them.

Toko Ekambi is very athletic and works hard, counter attacks better.

dembele will come on around 70*ish
