Champions League GW2 - 3/10 and 4/10

Wont suffer the ‘European hangover‘ either, probably beat West Ham at the weekend too with them coming back from Germany. Thought they’d drop off after last season but looks like they gonna be in the mix for Europe again annoyingly.

Watching this PSG side, it's like watching us. No wonder Qatar haven't sealed the deal, they must be wondering if they really need two the same.

Status quo is a weird choice for st James park isn’t it?

A few mentions of Newcastle's passion and how United should get some similar drive and passion in here tonight.

Rewind back to Ole's reign when all you could see were pathetic sarcastic posts about 'passion FC'.

My how times have changed.

When was the last time PSG looked like anything other than a collection of individuals who don’t know how to play together? The Cavani/Lavezzi/Pastore period?
I was literally thinking this and that front 3 came to mind, with Thiago Silva, Thiago Motta, Matuidi and Co. They were a much better team before the whole galactico period.

Lavezzi was a baller on Fifa in his prime at Napoli and PSG.

Ffs a 'nothing club' because they werent many times league winners? :wenger:

Nothing clubs dont have players like Ronaldinho or Weah as former players. Sure they werent on the level they are now but hardly a 'nothing club'.

There is something between nothing and a massive club you know?

PSG was just a stepping stone for Ronaldinho to move a bigger club back then. He was a kid.

Yes but Newcastle have shown you can press and play with passion and defend well all at the same time, without looking like an incoherent mess on the pitch.

Makes me laugh Mbappe wanted to be the main man. But look how he strolls around he's just not interested. Makes me angry when people say he's the best player in the world. Not even close.
He has never been the facilitator. That job was being handled by Neymar, Verratti, Di Maria for years and then later Messi. he was never the most important PSG player and you guys are seeing that right now.

Every team works so hard. Run forward in attack and come back in defense. Then at our club we have players with 0 positional awareness and leaving acres of space for attackers to just waltz thru and shoot at Onana which right now almost always lead to a goal

Eyes couldn’t stop blinking for about 15 minutes after that goal…

They’ve obviously got a great team, but what sets us and them apart is the passion they have compared to us.
This passion came after they were freed from the shackles of their owners. Make no mistake that could be us.

Doku on for 20 minutes, gets a goal and an assist.

He was a no brainer signing with the progress he was making at Rennes combined with the unique physical attributes he has. Don't think I've ever seen faster acceleration.

Passion and organization. Newcastle also look to have better movement off the ball in their midfield than we had under Ole (understandable given players and manager alike) along with coached understanding between full-back and wide FWs. Howe also invested in proper full-backs rather than going in for a AWB who, until recently (in one of ETH's more unequivocal successes, WB looks better in combining with his RFW) was notably weak going forward. Also Newcastle have not only a vigorous press but a systematic one. Nothing like that under Ole.

He literally turned down a billion this summer.

He’s leaving in January or next summer, he’s not staying for money.
Of course, he wouldn't destroy his career by playing there and he's still earning a fortune at PSG. But keep telling yourself that.

Take revenge Qatar. You got humiliated by the Saudis infront of the whole footballing world. Raise the bid.

what would Newcastle do to Galatasaray at home?

Very much like us.

The third Newcastle goal from Longstaff, no one tracked him from midfield. Felt like one of many we have conceded this year.

I'm talking about Oles first full seasons when all this actually happened.
Ole kept talking about hunger, desire and passion from his players, yet got ridiculed in here for it.

PSG with all that possession but just a couple of shots on target in the second half.

Yeah, better dribbling stats than Messi last season, one of the top in Europe. It's annoying how obvious and easy City make it but then no surprise everyone wants to join a settled team. Team of dribblers loses Mahrez the dribbler and replaces with an equal or better dribbler.

Yet Ole has a better record than Howe, but it's fine, I get it, we like to put our own club down whilst simultaneously build others up for lesser achievements.
We are sado masochistic

He's got to do something as it's the same old story every year at PSG.

He has got to hope there is an opening at Madrid.
Madrid wil take him in heartbeat next summer. Wouldn't be surprised if everything is already arranged. He, and more importantly his parents, know what they're doing. They milked PSG dry and he'll leave for free to Madrid at the prime age of 24.

And he's already achieved a lot, contrary to what many think here.

Alvarez is faster, more direct than Mahrez and a damn good player with plenty of potential. Especially under Guardiola's coaching. A better dribbler than Mahrez he is not though.

Hard to argue he achieved alot at his age by already won the world cup. However he needs a lot of hardwork to reach the level of Neymar, let alone Messi and CR7.

He's already left his footprint at the WC, twice. At a club level he's still lagging behind but that's because he's at the circus called PSG. Once he'll go to a proper big club, he'll start racking up trophies. You're talking about the two of the greatest players of all time, so of course it's still a long way to go and to be frank, I don't think he'll ever reach their heights. But Neymar is a more than achievable target, especially when you consider how the latter torpedoed his own career.

His ego is already up there with those two, if not more though.

6 league titles, World Cup winner. Not bad at 24.

PSG were poor. So disjointed. But Mbappe looked like a class above anyone on the field. Just nothing worked out.

I'm certain that his trophy tally will get bigger once he moves. This particular version of PSG are an absolute mess .

Keep telling myself that? What's with the hostility, I'm stating a basic fact and you literally agree in a later post that he's leaving within a year. Do you want him to join some small team and halve his salary to prove he doesn't care for money or something?

Yeah I've mentioned something similar before and was going to post it today. I don't think they've looked like a team since they signed Neymar and Mbappe. They were a tad disjointed with Zlatan and Cavani who was shunted out wide but it was a hell of a lot better than the crap they've served the last couple of season. They also used to play a nice style of football where it seemed every attack had a purpose.

No, I'm saying that he's keeping himself fit (and I mean for the top european level, not the saudi one) while earning an obscene amount of money until the end of his contract after which he'll to go to a big club for free. The love story with PSG is over and it's been obvious for quite a while. His last contract with your club was all about money and nothing else.

I'm a United fan, PSG is not my club.

Anyway, he'll earn the same fortune wherever he goes, the only place where he could get a substantial jump in his wages would be Saudi, and he turned down the billion in favour of remaining competitive and fit, so there are evidently other aspects driving him beyond money.
