Champions League 2nd Stage Draw

I think Juve and Corunna fans will be saying the same in that there lucky to get this group, Basel fans are over the moon anyway, just cause they got to this stage.Apart from Basel were all playing pretty shit. So its not gonna be easy for any of the teams

Yeah, the whole area is! La Coruña itself is not the most beautiful place in the world though, neither is it ugly either.

Damn AJAX has a fecked up group!

I only like Arsenal, because at least they play football. Which also means that AJAX's best chances to get points are against Arsenal. AJAX can play better against teams that also have the intention to play football.
Valencia will beat us twice, in Valencia they'll beat us with 1-0 or something I think, not with a big difference. In the ArenA they will play on the counter attack and beat us big time...
AS Roma is also a team that plays on the counter attack, so they're very difficult for AJAX.

I think that in AJAX's poule, Valencia will be 1st, Arsenal 2nd, AS Roma 3rd and AJAX 4th(I only hope we'll get a few points...)

I would rather be in your group. If we would've been in your group instead of Basle, it would've been a group with 4 big names. Also 4 teams that want to play football(maybe Juve not as much as the others, but still they play football..). I would've loved that, and I even would've given AJAX a slight chance of makin' it to the quarters, because as I said, AJAX plays better against teams that play attacking football...

About Man Utd:
I think U'll win the group. U'll beat Basle twice and U'll beat Depor at home. In La Coruna I think Depor will win. Against Juventus I think U 'll win in Manchester and that it 'll be a draw in Italy....

That makes 13 points...

No one answered the question,,why we have to play our 1st game away while we r seeded ?

i think thats only IF we win this group..

the winners play the first leg of the QFs at home.

Happy with the draw. Newcastle gave juve two good games, can't see why we shouldn't do teh same or more. Deportivo seem to be blowing a bit hot & cold so far this season. I expect basle to take points off the other three at home. It could be getting a win instead of a draw in Basle that is the decisive factor.

I think Arsenal will finish second on their group. Don't think Newcastle will get any further than this.

All three groups have England/Italy/Spain. English teams tend to fare well against the italian teams of late, and less so against Spanish teams.

I have been there (Galieca)its a beautiful part of the world, mountains and rivers, very pretty!!Coast is very nice also.Nice little coves.

At least AJAX has one advantage against Arsenal, if we can't score in a normal way, we can always try scoring from 30 meters, over Seaman's head <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> ;) <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

Deportivo - Am i right in thinking that they werent too bothered about who had tickets in the last match, so you could basically just walk in? Sounds very tempting <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

At this stage there is no easy group here, but I think it's a relatively good draw for us. We know Deportivo very well and from Newcastle's last two games against Juve it seems they are also not very top powerful team.

No, the winners play the first QF away.

Its only got a fake shroud to see. ;)

Every group is very hard.
Juv, the main rival, is very strong.

Deportivo La Coruna is also dangerous.

Basel made there their mark in CL, who let Liverpool went home.

The point is our defence is very weak!!!!
If we can improve our defence, I think we can go through this stage, even win the title in OT!

My opinion:

Deportivo: Should never be underestimated. didnt they beat milan away, n bayern home n away. But at the same time they can be inconsistent in that they lost 0-4 at home to a classy team.
We should go for win at home and settle for draw away.

Juventus: Tough to break down. classy players up front, good on the dead ball. Itl be a bloody tough match. Hopefully we can win at home n snatch a point away.

Basle: Shouldnt be taken lightly. Hope we do the same to these guys as we did to brondby in 98/99. But we should be wary of conceding goals esp away. They did score 3 times against the poo n all in the first half!!!!. We should go for a double over them undoubtedly.

That makes it 4 wins, 2 draws. 14pts n top of grp. :D

Good luck to the arse <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

It's important to get the results we need n the openning 2 games ,,,i mean 6 points.....can't wait to c how Veron will perform against Juventus.

I'm so glad United is lighting up the rivalry again with Juventus. It seems every game they play against each other is a cracker. <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

THE BOSS'S VIEW:

I'm delighted to be in the same Champions League group as Deportivo La Coruna. I hope we see them some time later in the season too!

As for Juventus, there was a spell a few seasons ago when we played them several years in a row so it doesn't bother me at all. The Italian clubs have had a barren few years but they have stepped up a gear this season and we've got to be aware that they are a big threat.

We have some bad news today - Rio Ferdinand is going to be out for three weeks, maybe a month, with a torn thigh muscle. It's a body blow in the sense that he's just back from his knee operation.

Life in the UEFA cup is always rosy for scousers. At the end of the day, it's where you belong to, not the CL by any chance

I think Depo and Juve will be saying exactly the same about Manyoo. They've hardly set the league on fire and lost 3-0 to Maccabi Who?fa. They've also got a very, very suspect defence with their most expensive player taking it easy on the injury table.

If you get through this group I will take my hat off to youse. This is no easy group for you(finally).</strong><hr></blockquote>

Are you really that dump?
1/ Easy group: 1999 - Barca, BM, United, hardly an easy group.
2/ Chance of getting through the group: we've been quite good in Europe during the last 5-6 years (always made it to QF at least). We know how to play and win in Europe (unlike some SUPER team who couldn't beat the mighty Basle once). And with the same "suspect defense, hardly set the League on fire, etc." team, we reached SF, only lose out on away goal. League form hardly has anything to do with CL form.
