Champions League 24/25 | Matchday 2: October 1-2

Loving being in this for first time since the early 80s but annoyed we missed out on the four team group stage, I really don't like the new format.

Follows the general trend of Football in last decade to play every more games and have less teams getting knocked out, at least they won't draw in the Europa competitions now.

Is it not a bit more exciting because you've a chance to play more big teams?

Why do they still need a whole drawn out draw show on the tv when the new format is all decided by computer, why not just draw it behind closed doors then publish the fixtures on the UEFA website?

It does seem a bit daft going through all this "draw" when only teams in one pot are picked out and the rest is automated. Just treat it like league fixtures and just drop them on a date. Bring back the draw for the playoffs onwards.

They can give the UEFA awards its own ceremony then as well rather than handing them own during the Champions League draw

Not sure how to feel about the new format. Initially it did not excite me, but the last couple of years the group stages were pretty boring IMO.

They always milk these things. Do the draw and get it done with. Who needs all the bells and whistles.

Well, Ceferin may not have wanted to take an hour to talk about Ronaldo's career but he definitely would like to talk about himself for an hour.

The only good thing about this format is that every team gets a similarly difficult schedule. Might get some more surprises now that pot 1 and 2 have to work just as hard than the lower-ranked teams to pull through.

How are Leipzig pot 1? Genuinely don't remember them ever doing anything in any UEFA comp.

It would be much better to use the Swiss format and only draw the first matchweek first.

Why not just dump the full fixture list at once like the PL does? This is stupid.

Leipzig seems to have gotten the worst draw so far...
Liverpool, Inter, Juventus, Atletico, Sporting, Celtic, Aston Villa and Graz is pretty tough.

Ronaldo looks so bored

Endlessly pushing that same button

Brest playing Real Madrid & Barcelona  Warm welcome this !
