Champions League 21/1/25 + 22/1/25

Sterling has mastered the art of running straight into defenders. It’s hilarious to watch when it’s not your own attacks he’s ruining 10x a game.

You definetly can if you want to discuss the nuance of it.

Worst rule change in football history. There was no major issue to solve.
Personally, I'm glad offside is one of the very few absolutely binary decisions in football. You're offside or you aren't, something that is exceedingly easy to check

That's what the rule is currently. Onside or offside, not really debatable.

Talking about what you want it to be is a different conversation.

The semi-auto offsides are great. That would take PL VAR about 1-2 mins to decide.

These automated offsides are a load of bollox.

Ruling out a goal over width of a gnats cock is a piss-take.

I don't get this, ok so we allow a gnats cock offside now, then the next one which is 2 gnats cocks offside will be "well it's only a gnats cock off past what we allow" as we are used to it being atleast one gnats cock off anyway. It would never end.

Exactly, the line has to be drawn somewhere.

With our onslaught after the first not bearing any fruit i was beginning to expect we lose by two goals.. just not in the first half already. That pen was stupid and unnecessary.
Yeah, I was already cursing us for fecking up a 4 on 2. Braindead challenge, Stengs would've picked up the ball near the sideline.

A quick 2-1 and I see us losing still. Our season is a bit like that

Don't get at all why Enrique doesn't play Ramos more. I watched PSG a couple of times a few weeks ago and he got subbed in twice and scored almost immediately in both games.

You can't disagree it's factual

I can do what I like.

Offside was judged by the eye in past and something like that couldn't have been judged offside accurately and probably would have been allowed in most cases as the players are side by side.

Technology has changed things and this automated stuff is judging it down to the absurd granularity of millimetres which couldn't have been done before. For me that means the law should be revisited, now that we have the benefit of technology, to decide what is deemed an unfair advantage and what isn't.

You have to think about the spirit of the law, why it was brought it and if in fact there is any material advantage to the attacker in a situation like that.

Do you really think a goal should be disallowed in that situation and that it's good for the game?

Shame about Calafiori. Looked like a superb signing at the time but he seems to be constantly struggling with injuries.
Still though I am not happy he's playing Timber, unsure as to why can't play Tierney. Who in no way would struggle against fecking Zagreb! One more injury to our backline and we're done.

What a rebel

I had no issue with the implementation for 100+ years. Now I hate it.

The difference is that wouldn't be offside in the PL due to the margin for error when drawing the lines. The automated system is coming to the PL. That's why it's debatable.

Another team went into second half two goals down just yesterday... Sadly we don't have that big Flick energy
