Celebrity Allegations, #MeToo etc

It's definitely witch hunt territory now.

People are shitty, both men and women. For sure, 100%, there were situations where men with power abused that power to make unwanted sexual advances on women that had little ability to refuse. For sure, 100%, there were situations where men with power made sexual advances on women that were happy to oblige, until they weren't years or decades later.

This is why we need time travel invented ASAP, so we can have a crack team of investigators go back to the moment that Louis CK jerks off into a plant, to see if the woman in question was enjoying the show, or horrified.

If by 'witch hunt' you mean 'opportunity for decades worth of people who faced sexual harassment and assault to finally have their stories heard' then sure, totally a witch hunt.

"That man said if I sucked his dick he'd make me famous"

- A bunch of famous women

But yeah there's definitely cases where coercion, abuse of power and downright non-consensual stuff happened. I think it's important those aren't diluted by more, (how do I put this) trivial cases?

Powerful men asking for blow jobs in return for favors (and often the reverse) is far from trivial. It is a sexual crime.

So this is my wall. I met the artist last night to confirm it should be replaced. What do you guys think we should replace it with?

One as of yet nameless Swedish radio profile...

This has hit Sweden pretty hard too, with some very powerful media figures having been exposed. Is it my imagination or has the UK celebrity sphere managed to remain fairly unscathed so far? Aside from the Tory list of course.

I'm amazed how many people I know or have worked with who genuinely believe that HR exists in any way to serve the interests of employees or workers.

The clue is in the name - Human Resources. These departments exist solely to best manage the resource of people - to be used in the most efficient, secure and profitable manner for the business.

I have worked above, below and within HR departments and the principles by which they operate are akin to those applied to inventory control or stock management, only instead of materials or products, they are being applied to human beings.

How to limit liability.
How to maximise output.
How to minimise cost.

These are the key aims of a HR department.

How to ensure the well being of the individual never enters the equation.

Mainly just been minor politicos and journos over here so far.

I'll mention that I never did get many years in my working career.

But the guy responsible for hr at the it firm I worked at before my health issues was a pain in the ass for the management because he always stood up for workers rights. So while I can believe what you say is the general rule, I have mostly experienced hr folks to be working for the workers.

I comment: Come on, Andrew. Research stuff before just posting nonsense. This is a photoshop. Notice how the image is blown up to hide the bottle of liquor photoshopped into his coat pocket?

I posted side-by-side photos that show the fake and the real photo. I also posted a snopes.com link.

Andrew's response: Scott, it is well documented he has done this numerous times. Also, IMHO, SNOPES is not a credible fact checking site, as has been noted in the last few years given the attention given that company.

Deflect, deflect, deflect. And trot out the cliched line about snopes.

Ask him when he’s gonna he outraged about his president grabbing women by the crotch

Waiting on his retort to my retort -- So, per say I post a photoshop image of Trump grabbing a woman by the pussy, and someone points out that's fake, I can simply dismiss the fact the image is bogus and cite that it's documented he's done such acts - he even stated such. Got it. Biden may be a creepy groper but this is the problem with everyone with social media these days - they can just post crap and there's no accountability.

Except, that's a grey area situation. How many women were happy to do that to get ahead in their career? Christina P joked about it saying basically "whose dick do I have to suck to get a netflix special". Yes, some women were going to be horrified by it, but some were not. Not to mention there is an ENTIRE socially acceptable culture that revolves around this exact practice. The classic gold digger, a 20 something shacked up with a rich older guy. That's a "if you suck my dick, I'll give you money" arrangement. We're dancing around it at this point, but what we're talking about, is socially acceptable prostitution.

Men offering goods for a service. It's fecked up, but how do you address it? Now, in no uncertain terms am I condoning the behavior, but the question is, how many women were fine with this, until they weren't. It's a messy situation, and you know, you KNOW that there are unscrupulous people out there who will jump on the bandwagon and destroy a persons career out of spite. That is what I am saying. There needs to be due process, you know, because we're a civilized culture and we have things like jurisprudence.

That's why witch hunts are dangerous, people get into a frenzy, someone points a finger, and that person gets burned, regardless of if they are guilty or not. That isn't trivial. How would you like it if someone came into your place of work tomorrow, and said you sexually assaulted her, and suddenly you lost your job, your family left you (if you have one). That's why a witch hunt is dangerous. That's why addressing every single case carefully isn't "trivial". You know what I call people who call life altering accusations "trivial"? Twats.

Seriously? Happy? Kinell.

Do you live in a land of puppies and fairies? You realize that in the real world, there are actually people who have sex for a living. Either on film, or as a straight up prostitute. So yes, I'm pretty sure it is safe to say that some people, both men and women, will be happy to suck a dick to make a bucketload of money.

Give your head a wobble.

Second allegation out against Jeffrey Tambour. Was one of my favourites.

It is a coercion for sex from a position of power no matter what anyone thinks or says. Even if victims don't want to call it for what it was it is still a crime. A crime that should be prosecuted. If the victim doesn't cooperate then a conviction is unlikely but it is still a crime and the misogynist culture that has resulted in recent revelations is a result of people ignoring sexual crimes or dismissing them as just boys being boys. I also doubt many were OK with it at all. I'm fairly sure they would prefer to be dealt with on merit and not their cock sucking or being raped abilities.

And nobody is talking about avoiding due process. At least now there may be some due process in a few cases where the evidence exists.

Give your head a wobble.

So you are comparing acting to being a sex worker now? Two identical things of course.

The degree of voluntary participation in sex work is another discussion all together and nothing to do with the current issue.

And of course there may be the odd unscrupulous person who will offer anything to get advancement but that is such a minuscule proportion of actors as to be irrelevant. Attitudes that dismiss such things as "gold diggers offering blowjobs" are part of the problem.

Again, the profound f*cking irony of these matters being labelled 'witch hunts'.

Actors get offered roles just based on their looks all the time.

Is it a crime? Or just an abuse of power? If they do so willingly then surely they're just another adult making a decision, and it's the company who should look at the guy and not the police? Or is bribery a crime, even inside private companies? I genuinely am not sure.

I'm not even talking about most of the recent cases at this point by the way, just the wider culture of the 'casting couch' I guess.

I've read this twice and I'm still not sure if we agree or not. Could you help me out?
