Castles: Manchester United to battle with Manchester City for Shakhtar star Fred

Hey man, someone asked why people trust Castles and I trust him because back then he reported the Pogba story when many else didn't think it was on as castles doesn't know shite.

For this reason in my eyes Castles is a reliable source. Obviously no journo gets stuff 100 percent right, but Castles has been more reliable for me than someone like Mitten.

Now if you think he's a nobody and knows nothing, feel free. Why should I care if someone believes or doesn't believe Castles. I am just saying I find him reliable because usually his words are true

So because you think he was the first to call one transfer that was a huge story for several months that makes his words "usually true".

He's the same as every transfer reporter out there rushing around reporting every link there is, copying others, changing the story every other day, etc.

Okay.

So if we find it, Castles will be the very first to link us to Pogba and we will not find any links anywhere before him?

Also how many has he gotten wrong?

This one?

First post does reference Castles as the source unfortunately it also mentions that we had been linked to a Pogba return a few months before. Ooops. Also the quoted part is really about Juventus being willing to sell and that PSG and United being the most likely interested parties. A bit weak as far as breaking the story goes.
Sounds about right. Castles knows f*ck all.

City will Pretend they are interested in every player we want, to drive up price. This has always been their game.

Funny how we appear to gazump City for one of their targets and they immediately try to get someone its rumoured Jose wants...

...but, of course, they abandoned the Alexis deal cos they wanted to, right? :p

Yeah, good luck fitting him in alongside David Silva, Fernandinho, De Bruyne and Gundogan - whilst still trying to fit Aguero, Jesus, Sterling, Sane and Bernardo Silva in the same team.

I think they will he'll be a backup for Fernandinho. David Silva and De bruyne are untouchables in the City side.

Fred looks like a decent player on youtube. I don't see anything spectacular about him. If anyone whose watched him regularly share his strengths and which player he would be closest to in comparison when it comes to style.

Fred seems to have been linked to City for ages now. I checked the man city reddit page a few weeks back and they were talking about him like he was already their signing. Like a certain Chilean footballer...

I don't rate fred at all, certainly not to fill any voids in the city side. I think he will struggle to find form, won't like the physical side of the English game. Will try stupid tricks and give the ball away etc etc.

Bang average player (unless you play fifa alot i suppose)

Fair enough, can't say I know too much about the lad(he's brilliant on FM, but that don't mean shit), but as a CM, didn't think it made much difference re: Sanchez.

No i agree but for a little while i was concerned he was going to join us. Which i wouldn't want.

Watching the City-Shakhtar game at the Etihad a while back I found myself being very impressed with the team as a whole. The team dealt with City's press incredibly well, never resorting to hoofing it or constantly passing it back to the GK. They held onto the ball from pressing players and passed it through the channels to great effect.

A single player didn't really stand out as the whole team played well but as someone who played such a good game against such a good team I wouldn't be against this transfer at all. I remember the two sitting midfielders being unfazed by the press and playing some really nice passes to the attackers and we could definitely do with more midfielders like this.

The interest in Soler seems to have cooled now. Maybe we have looked at the young players we have coming through like Traore, Gomes, Gribbin, Puigmal, etc. I really hope these players keep showing the promise they have and they make it in the first team.

City very close to concluding the transfer of Fred for around €40m.

I’m not sure why Fabinho isn’t already a Manchester City player.

Doesn’t make any sense to me whatsoever.

Why can't the magical Pep coach all those amazing youth players at City to come in and help the team? It's all such nonsense.

Very athletic player and not bad on the ball. I'm not sure he can play CM for Pep though, Fernandinho was always way more skilled, he played winger sometimes for Shakhtar. I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes some hybrid 3rd CB type.
