just fecking give him us and help us out

No way this happens but if it does I'll shit my pants. Casemiro is one of the best DMs in the world right now and DMs like CBs have far longer careers.

Can easily play at the top level for 3-4 years.

Brilliant player but probably past his prime. Fast becoming a retirement home for Real Madrid players. These deals never work out. He won’t have the same impact here and doubt he can play every game. I guess we are desperate. His experience will help.
Come on, he is right bang in his prime. Has another 4 years at this level. You guys see 30 and think retirement. Lewandowski is 34, Robben was 34 and playing at a high level, same with Modric and Messi and Ronaldo. Zidane, Xavi, Iniesta. These top class players can play into their mid thirties at a high level.

He started vs Eintracht and did not vs Almeria in a game for which Ancelotti rotated heavily and changed more than half the team.

Tchouameni and Camavinga did not play well vs Almeria by the way.

Rotation seems the right logic for a season with a WC in the middle of it. This should make Madrid more interested in keeping him rather than the opposite.
The notion of getting rid of Casemiro, a bona fide, proven almost indisputable best in class midfielder before even being assured those who will eventually replace him are ready is absolutely insane. You have a serious game of any type to play and a fit Casemiro starts.

As much as I rate the two you mention (was naive enough to hope we could land them), Casemiro is the man and before that crown is taken from him, he is only going for an absolutely astronomical fee that makes sense for both parties (club and self). I think other clubs would be willing to match anything we offer - PSG and Chelsea in particular - and that ultimately, he’d have a choice to make as to where he went.

Your club is shrewd, not stupid - if we’re desperate enough to essentially pay for Tchoameni for you, you’ll probably bite our hands off, but there’d be no undercutting on a player who is so much the fabric of any important game you will play throughout the season.

I would assume it's because he has a set way to play and he knows the types of players that would fit his system. So is identifying players based off that. When the club have had a year with him, they'll know who to sign after working with him for a while. So it would then become more of a collaborative effort.

Yes, give a manager who’s primary role is to coach not scout free reign to decide targets. What could possibly go wrong?

The club moved early for ten Hag then patted themselves on the back for taking this new and fresh approach. Our DOF who led the hiring process would presumably have a good idea of how ten Hag’s teams line up and play. The fact ten Hag is reportedly drafting up the target list shows that we are repeating past failures.

This guy is suggesting we can guarantee Casemiro around 24-30M more. I'm assuming over the duration of his contract. Also says we could be interested in Asensio, depending on where things fall between Mendes and the club re: Cristiano.

He presents far more value than the ridiculous price we were after De Jong for and that was before the 17m fans were willing to throw on top

This would be mental, it would mean we'd be paying him something like 300k a week.

Not that I think we'll sign him but if we did I'd think 300k/wk would be pretty expected and not insane.

Would you sell him for a very high fee? If so, how much?
I wouldn't sell him because there's a reasonable chance that both Modric and Kroos leave in a year and losing your entire 3-man midfield over the course of one season would be catastrophic.

Maybe Madrid are gonna snatch FDJ

Am I reading this right, people in here wouldn’t want Casemiro? And are citing the cost as the reason why?

It would be one of the biggest signings of the summer for any club in the world, let alone us and our predicament!

Absolutely - best in the world in his position. Yes he's not one for the future but we are in a crucial moment which could define the next 5 years for us.

It’s going back to the terrible transfer strategy we were trying to move away from.

Not sure if you noticed, but without significant reinforcements in midfield we will struggle to attract any talent. We were turned down by a 19 year old Slovenian in the Austrian league ffs.

Who can we bring in who is better? We don't need talents that will develop into stars, we need bona-fide fide stars - right now. Our first XI is shite, and while I would love for us to do something clever in the market, we don't have the chops for that. He is literally the best in the world is his position.

In an ideal world our recruitment team identifies targets early, approach them before the window and brings them in before pre-season, bur we are not in an ideal world. We are in a world where we lose 4-0 to Brentford who won convincingly and have a team of players who are incapable of performing under pressure.

If we can get Casemiro, we should obviously do that. Might even be enough to convince de Jong to come here. A midfield trio of de Jong, Casemiro and Eriksen/Bruno would instantly transform our midfield from one of the worst in the league to one of the best.

We may not like to pay 50m in fees and 200k+ in wages but thats our sad situation. We need overpay in both fees and wages in order to even TRY and attract players to come to United.

Casemiro is just boosting his contract with Real Madrid
Got to remember how Real Madrid often operate. Lots of their key players from the outside in unglamorous positions end up leaving because they aren't afforded the galactico status and wages that other clubs may offer to lure them. He could be using us, but it could well be the case that we can make him an offer that Madrid will never match, as they are already well stocked in that position.

This would be the best signing we made in years. Possibly best midfield signing since Carrick in 06/07.
This is also the first time I'm entering muppet train this summer.

Sounds about what I'd expect. World class player would expect a world class wage from a new club.

It's the 4 year deal I think the issue for me, I am obviously not against him as a player coming in.

Ultimately, if you want a player like that in our position, you are going to have to offer a top, generous contract that provides some certainty.

For one, I don't think RM would be keen to let go a generational talent who is only 30 years old and has quite a few years left in his contract. If they do, it is incredible silly to suggest that we'd be shortsighted to offer a 4-year deal in the range of 300k per week. Players of his calibre don't leave the biggest club in the world with the best shot at League/CL double in the ongoing season to a club that may not offer CL for another 2 years.

The only reason players of his level would want to join the current-day United is because of money. There's no other reason (unless a local, may be).

Other than the money why on earth would he leave Madrid for us right now?

If we sign him, that will be a huge statement signing and a cracking one too. He will own that midfield and with Fred , Eriksen that would be a hell of an upgrade.

It's a terrible transfer strategy and one that's bitten us several times over in the not too distant past. He would be moving to us for money and nothing else. Would end up another just coming to take a massive pay cheque.

We should be looking at players that are looking to make that next step up, the ones that will be arriving full of hunger.

It's all a pointless discussion anyway. No way this happens.
