Casemiro | United Player

It makes it much easier for these players at Madrid on the wrong side of 30 to still play at such a high level when they are surrounded by other talented players who are also able to cover the ground that players like Modric can't.

Buying Tchouamèni of course is with a view to progress to the first team, that is what clubs with a clear and coherent strategy do. Fair enough if our vision was to sign Casemiro to plug the gap with a view to signing someone to replace him in the next couple of years. But he is set to be on a long term contract and on higher wages. Ask yourself, why are Real Madrid selling him? And why did they sign those players last summer to progress into the starting 11?

When you start to question if Casemiro is indeed on the cusp of a decline, Real Madrid's position starts to make more sense. Its good for them they can rely on clubs like us to pay over the odds for someone who is not going to command anywhere near the same fee or wages when we come to sell him.

Well, from some reports, Casemiro want to leave (when he knows his game time will be reduced by a 100m players, no way RM put a 100m players in bench whole season) so RM respect him to sell him as well.
Also, RM believe that other players surrounding Tchouamèni will make him develop, do you think potential players will believe to develop well around McFred?
ETH is still finding the best way to adopt his philosophy to make the team good but RM is already the one of the best, well-turned team.

Medicals are done deal bar injury. It's basically formalities at club level. At least they'll have sorted the fees and the contracts MOU

It often is but it's not always the case, in fact during the last days of transfer windows players are asked to do medicals earlier than usual in order to not have issues in the last days or hours of the window.

Trust me, i want this signing to work out just as much as the others. It is difficult however with everything that has transpired prior to this happening. This same profile of players was reportedly not even on our radar this summer when it was glaringly obvious it is what we needed.

ETH possibly could have identified this need after 2 games, but that in itself is worrying as he should have been analysing our games last season to come to the same conclusion.

Wasn't it ETH that said we should sign the right player, not just any player? Fair enough, you could argue Casemiro is not just any player, but his profile of player wasn't even on our list to begin with this summer, which doesn't fill me with confidence that the club have done due diligence when making this signing, rather jumping on it as soon as it was a possibility.

Like i've said, you can't possibly blame me and others for being negative and skeptical.

Note I'm not outright saying Casemiro is going to fail at Manchester United. Rather I am pointing out the potential pitfalls, which I think is fair enough as opposed to riding on an eternal wave of optimism. I've done so before and been burned numerous times.

I thought the narrative was that we were looking at him this summer but never enquired as didn’t know how the season would pan out. Now it seems he won’t be in first team plans and in a World Cup year and needs to get game time. Maybe that’s why it was never mentioned. Also FDJ was the main target and still a possibility but we needed to move quickly for this guy.

He has always been an overrated money-grabbing fat prick. Put a traffic cone, or worse, McTominay in that Real midfield and they would've won the same amount of trophies.

 people losing their heads because he's training. Never change caf.

The seasons started and he's still their player, of course he's training

What a load of shit Guillem Balague is talking. He obviously hasn’t watched Ajax play, with Alvarez in their midfield and Casemiro is a much better passer than Alvarez. Jesus.. who pays these so called experts???

What other to expect from a guy who probably made up his Spanish football expert title.

I guess we aren't in the position yet to develop raw talent. But equally, I don't think we're in a position to get a player in that is the best in their position and expect them to be a rip roaring success.

Casemiro may solve a big problem in the short term, but I only think this will end up being a long term problem.

I think most of it is a joke  There's clearly a lot of work to be done still. The news only came out yesterday and we don't do things that quickly.

If you want to believe that against every single tier one report from both England and Spain fair enough

Because there's never been a situation where a fee has been agreed with the club only for the player to end up staying?

Honestly I'm under the impression that England, France or Netherland have a worse record with over 30 years old top players than Brazil.
Spot on, people look at Robinho, Adriano and Ronaldinho and what happened to them and make up a general narrative about Brazilians loosing it past their 30s. As you said England, France and we the Netherlands have a worse record for older players than Brazil.

Given us a good laugh at work though. Some people are so dramatic and negative, you just have to laugh at it.

Maybe he's going to play one more game for Real and get the send off from the fans that he deserves.

Strangely enough Brazil the ones with extreme examples like Zé Roberto, Dante, Hilton, Cris, Lucio, Dani Alves, Aldair, Cafu, Thiago Silva, Pépé, Thiago Motta, Fernandinho and many others. If anything Brazil should be the reference for longevity.

We'll class the training session as his medical. Guaranteed there's a guy in a United tracksuit sat at the side with a clipboard.

He really is a bitter cnut about everything related to us. Never seen him be impartial about anything he’s spoken on about us

Training with Madrid today? This isn't anywhere close to being done as the media made it out to be. Won't be surprised at all if this goes the same way of Rabiot. "We tried, he wants too much"

Some leap that

What if guys, what if, this was all a smokescreen to take the focus away from the news of a potential buyer a few days earlier?

Would be a shame, such a quality player after all...
