His presence will allow Eriksen to express himself better, and will improve the defense. He's got a big job on his hands, hopefully he's got the personality to care. It's not easy for someone who has won everything to go that extra yard for their new club.

Will start training on thursday at the earliest. Why is there always such a long delay at our club?

It’s been less than a week since his name was first mentioned as a transfer target and people were laughing it off.

Its always been a little slow getting visas for our South American players, even before Brexit.

Balague, the Barca/Pep fanboi? I don't take anything that clown says seriously.

Quite a childish response

What do you think of Balagues other comments about Casemiro, for example: " He is a leader and a winner who reads the game exceptionally well "

Shall we all dismiss the "clowns" opinions or just choose which ones we agree with

We have Erickson and Fernandes for creativity. We need someone behind them who can cover them and make them feel confident to push forward

We need a solid DM to screen our CBS and to build confidence in our over all defense.

We can not do that with de gea in goal, he is the root of the issue in terms of confidence in our defence

A childish response for a childish journalist. I refuse to give him or his articles traffic because his opinion is heavily biased and i don't trust him. If you quoted him accurately the first time then i have no doubt he is absolutely NOT an authority on Casemiro, hence i do not care what he has to say.

Even if he is utter shite for us, its still a huge upgrade.

Him and Fred will be a solid duo and that will unlock Bruno/Eriksen

You’ve not a clue about the player in the slightest
You'll see, brother.

Unlike most, I base my opinions on players after watching them. People just see a Real Madrid player and get excited without taking into consideration the quality of his teammates papering over his limitations. Players we don't have.

Yep happy to revisit this with you later in the season as I think you’re way off the mark and don’t fully understand the player’s profile

The players profile is running around defensively and giving it to Modric and Kroos.

Well, he's in his thirties now and coming to a much more physical league, and we have no one he can quickly pass the ball to in order to get away from pressure like the aforementioned players so his lack of ability to resist pressing opposition will be exposed.

And here he'll run around defensively (terribly reductive description by the way) giving it to Erikson / Bruno and bum-tighteningly-hopefully FDJ. All's not so bad chap.

People aren't basing their opinions on 'just because he's from RM' either. This guy has been quality on full view for years. One of the very best.

Casemiro, Eriksen and one of McFred sounds like a far better midfield than anything we have seen in years.

I wouldve preferred a younger, less "galactico" type player but feck it, beggars cant be choosers.

Eriksen and Bruno are part of the problem, too.

All lightweight players. Players who can't carry the ball or shield it under pressure. A midfield made up of these three is too easy to press.

Our priority needs to be players who, again, can carry the ball and shield it under pressure. We have hard workers, Hollywood Hulk Hogan players, but no one who can consistently provide the aforementioned qualities.

To the skeptics, what stats have you got to back up his lack of pressing resistance? Everything I've seen puts him as both strong in possession and a better passer than anything we have. Albeit not a strong progressor via dribbling (the ball moves faster than any person though, tbh!).

I never rely on stats.

I judge a players press resistance on a few things after watching them. How agile they are at pulling off La Pelopina turns to turn away from an opposition player. How strong they are at keeping the opposition player away from the ball with his body. The way the player positions his body in between the ball and opposition player so that he can win in fouls.

Casemiro has none of those abilities. He just has the luxury of playing a simple ball to a Modric or someone who gets them out of a jam.

Erikson has played at the top level for years without his 'lightweight-ness' being an issue. Same with Bruno. I doubt a MF consisting of Casemiro, Erikson and FDJ will be considered easy pickings by any opposing team.

Eriksen only ever excelled at Spurs, and that was because the press resistant monster known as Dembele carried the midfield. We don't have a Dembele.

It would be much different with Frenkie, sure. One of the most press resistant players in the world. He would definitely compensate for Casemiro and Eriksen's deficiencies; as they would him.

If you told me two weeks ago that I would be replying in a thread called Casemiro Performances, I would think you are crazy. Excited to see him in a red shirt. This is the kind of personality, leader we need in the dressing room. When it gets tough, I don't think we're going to see him sulk or drastically drop in performance.

We will definitely find a balance with him in midfield, people think there is just a Busquets or an insanely good press resistant CDM out there but in reality these players are incredible hard to find. He's good enough on the ball where he won't be coughing it up like Fred and Scott do when they are the first player to check for the ball. The issue in our build up play with him in the squad will be DDG and Maguire. Bruno, Eriksen, and one of McFred should be good enough to help us control more games although Casemiro won't be enough if we are aiming for top 4.

I think he will fail, not necessarily because he isnt good enough, but for the fact that he doesnt have the quality beside him, like he had at Madrid.

We're pushing for de jong one last time so I think a midfield of him de jong and Eriksen provides plenty of quality for him to succeed .

It's a good job we're about to sign him then eh? FDJ incoming!

Dunno, I struggle to agree about Eriksen, seems almost disrespectful to accredit his Spurs success all on Dembele. The guy is class and we'll see that this season I'm sure.

Casemiro. Not press resistant.

:nervous:
I’m not sure people here have actually seen him play! It’s like they think he somehow got lucky playing for Real Madrid with no technical qualities and just being a brute that can foul the opposition

My god that is insufferable.

I was just impressed to be fair. Could only have scored more hipster wanker points by italicising it, it's a top effort.

It's encouraging how many players likely to play around him fall on the cusp compatibility chart: Fred (Pisces), Lindelof (Cancer), Maguire (Pisces).

This could well be the making of a fantastic squad, especially if we add Antony, another Pisces, to add to the mix.
Did you check their moon signs?

Bravo, what a footballing brain you have.

"Hipster" ?! The term has been around for over 20 years!
Now I'm not sure if you really watch when you got the very basic thing wrong about the club you support.
You obviously underestimate the effort it takes to not put in the effort needed. It takes a lot.

He has a round head. If someone mistakes it for the ball.... well, we all know what Fergie would say.

Na, that’s a newer thing. People saw him as one of the better performers last season and he tends to be quite strong. I wish he could command the box better, would imagine coaching would work on that

Adding this monster to the team we saw tonight has the potential to be very good. Can't wait to see him.
