Carrick out for four weeks | David McDonnell sucks

Exact same story as last season more or less to the day, returns from long injury and then gets crocked in January.

Mix it with our bad form and the fact we're not fixing our weak areas in the transfer window again and its all a little too familiar :(

Don't have a clue myself. It's been a long term problem to be fair, our squad size was always pretty obscene compared to other top clubs - just to cover for this kind of shit.

It's really killing the joy of watching United when you have half of your squad missing for half a season. Something needs to be done.

We have to justify the expenditure on those fancy new scanning machines at our medical facility.

Nothing surprises me anymore. I remember how happy I was when we introduced those things, I thought they will solve our all problems but it seems that we have become even worse since buying them.

He played well the first few games after his most recent lay off and then we saw the return of Captain Slow so it may be a good thing.

Story of our season!

Jones gets back, evans is out injured
Rojo gets back, smalling is out injured
Shaw gets back, young is out injured
Blind gets back, carrick is out injured

rinse and repeat.

Shit news, hope he gets back soon but if there's any plus side to this I hope it gives Herrera a start in the coming matches.

Not a big miss, he's been mediocre recently. Also make it one less excuse to play 352

At least Herrera should get a game.

If he picks Blind and Fellaini in midfield I will be cross.

Was hoping to see him next to blind in midfield but ah well. Hopefully it forces Herrera into a start as he is our best midfielder

Rojo - dislocated shoulder + thigh strain
Falcao - muscle injury/calf strain
Young - groin injury + hamstring
Jones - hamstring + shin splints
Valencia - hamstring + groin
McNair - hamstring
Smalling - groin + thigh
Carrick - ankle + muscle strain
Rafael - groin + muscle injury
Di Maria - hamstring

Herrera - ribs
Shaw - ankle
Evans - ankle
Fellaini - ribs
Blind - knee ligaments
Rooney - knee

Dislocated shoulders and broken ribs are just a bit freaky. Shaw, Evans, Blinds injuries and Rooney's knock were picked up in games I think. But the number of hamstring injuries, thigh strains, groin injuries just seem inexcusable high to me. How many other clubs get those type of injuries so often?

Ah that's too bad. He's been a foundation of sorts for the team. :(

But on the flip-side, the trainer coach might treat us to a Herrera - Blind - Di Maria midfield selection at last.

Half of the players mentioned are either injury prone or already had the same injuries several times in their careers.

I couldn't care less about this. I don't wish anything bad to our players but I think he shouldn't play in one side with Blind and Blind should be playing dm for us, his movement is better and make us look and play more dynamic which is what we lacked for months. Also it hopefully means that Herrera comes in too. We should build our team around Herrera not 34yo Carrick or Fellaini. If this injury means he will play than I am somehow glad even it doesn't feel right but the stubborn dutchman manager would never drop his fav players like RVP or Carrick.. I h also hope it means Andreas could make the bench for us..

Anderson, put on your boots.

So, the only player who wasn't injury prone over the last few years has become injury prone under van Gaal. Great.
I think it's time that someone at the club admits that we have sold our soul to devil, and that it's turning against us now, there is no other explanation.

It's not exactly a secret. We were the Red Devils and now we've sided with an Angel.

Satan's pissed.

Shite news. Oh well.

Back 5
Herrera, Blind, Di Maria,
Rooney
Two Strikers
Twitchy arse or not, just get it done.

Might as well play with 9 men with that formation. Van Persie and Falcao should be duking it out for the spot in front of Rooney and Mata.

Bizarre the way some folk seem to think this isn't bad news. A couple of weirdos even seem pleased?!?

We've been cack for almost the whole season so far but the only stetch of games where we looked in any way decent (other than isolated spells against garbage opposition) featured Michael Carrick. A sharp improvement as soon as he came back from injury. There's no way this news means anything other than further damage to our season.

Indeed. This is a massive loss.

As good as Blind has been, he's not as good as Carrick (yet). Not sure why so many people seem to think he's better already.

Just when everyone was suggesting playing Blind alongside Carrick, he gets injured. Sigh.

With rumours that Van Gaal will be going back to a 442, thankfully we have Blind who can cover for Carrick in the holding role.

Normally you'd say no big deal Blind's got this but with United this season you that know that it won't be long before we need Blind at CB/LB and when Carrick returns Blind will be on his way to the physio for a couple of weeks.

Ditto that but personally I think this is not as damaging as it would have been twelve months ago or in Fergie's last couple of seasons. Then we had virtually no one with anything close to Carrick's skillset and intelligence on the pitch in the squad. Blind is not as good as Carrick, no doubt about that, and I'm sure the same people who are celebrating Carrick's injury will be the first to complain about Blind's lack of physicality if shit hits the fan tomorrow.

It'll be his lack of pace that will attract the most stick.

Funny how LVG doesn't seem to have otten much stick for the injury troubles we've had when you compare it to the manager we had last season. This season has been off the scale in terms of injuries.

And Blind is fast becoming Kagawa-lite. Lots of praise for little. He's absolutely nowhere near Carrick's class.

Big loss defensively, there's very few in the league who read play like he does. He has been a bit passive in his passing and Blind offers a bit more in terms of aggression in first time passes under pressure but this is still a big loss. We should have enough in us to get through, the next 5 fixtures don't look that bad.

Hopefully Herrera/Fellaini comes in with Blind as DM, Di Maria left midfield and Rooney in #10

Harsh on blind that, but yeah I agree Carrick's on a different level.

Who is the next one to come back from injury ? Might give us a clue as to who will get next injured.

Could be a blessing in disguise. Carrick is a tremendous midfielder but if there is one thing he does not do, it's speed up play.

------Blind-----
Herrera---Di Maria- or else

------Blind-----
Herrera---Fellaini
-----Di Maria-----

A massive shame he's out. With that said, I don't think he's been anywhere near as good as suggested this season and I think our upturn in results after his comeback was more of a lucky coincidence as opposed to him making a crucial difference to the side. An unpopular opinion I'm sure.

I also actually prefer Blind in the holding role. His passing isn't as creative but I think he helps us play at a higher tempo, as well as demonstrating more composure when pressed.

So, a bad loss for us, but provided our remaining midfielders remain fit then I don't think it impacts too heavily on the first team.

Oh c'mon mate... Are we gonna blame him for total lack of movement of our attacking players now ?

I'm not blaming him for anything, but things we're moving along much quicker when Blind was in Carrick's role, it's just an observation.

Honestly. I don't think this is an all too bad thing. Carrick and Blind slow down our distibution, at least hopefully this means one of Herrera or Di Maria slots in.

It's four weeks plus the two weeks he has to train with the first team plus the time it will take for him to build match rhythm, so quite a while.
