Car drives into crowd in New Orleans, dozens of casualties

Wow, WGAF? It's the new year and we have an argument over a fecking acronym. Being honest though, I've never seen the acronym used before here and now reading up on it it's not surprising I've not seen it as it's mainly a US military term used primarily by those in the US Forces.

Although reading the Marine Core support webpage for the Army Public Affairs professionals, says that GWOT should not be used as an acronym anymore when writing articles related to the events, and it instead should be replaced simply with 'war on terrorism' and written in lower case only and not capitalised.

Ooooorah.

Back on topic, Twitter has banned the search of the drivers name for some reason.

Then we have this unbelievable statement from the New Orleans Police Department.

I honestly can't believe they said that. I don't see what possible upside they thought would be gained by saying it. Surely not saying anything at all would have been a far better and more sensible thing to do? Not mentioning something is not the same as lying, and surely friends and relatives and those injured that will read or hear about that statement and comment will be understandably hurt and very upset about it.

Up to 18 people shot at a nightclub in Queens NYC. Motive unknown at this moment.

No deaths reported yet either which is amazing news. Definitely not a great start to the New Year for the USA so far.

And full of fireworks. Sounds like a scene from Four Lions.
Sadly most Americans expected this. The innocent will always die because of the decisions of the people in power. We're all sitting duck while they're all heavily protected. The civilians are always the ones to take the hit. Collateral damage.

I've never seen Four Lions but based on the comments in here I might have to add it to my list.

This is a norm in queens. The number is a bit high but not something that's unexpected. The terrorists might not have anyone to kill soon because the domestic gun toting lunatics will take everyone out before they get a chance.

Re the shootings and drive into crowd things here: it's kind of sad; I was spending time with fam in Europe visiting some Christmas markets and what not incl in Germany. Some of the Trumpsters in my life decided to do the "Ohhh are you ok??? See how dangerous Europe is/Guns would have saved people" bs bc the Germany situation happened while I was on that side of the pond. Since New Orleans and the shootings elsewhere they've been real quiet. cnuts.

Good grief. What a bunch of insensitive dickheads.

Horrible story. I'm sure that more will trickle out about the main guy but it sounds as though it was pretty well organised with a nber of people involved. Will be interesting to see whether it was planned in conjunction with ISIS or just carried out in their name.

I'm over in NOLA for a conference next week - I was really looking forward to it as it's SUCH a fun city but it's going to be very somber, probably edgy atmos now.

So sad for the families of all the innocents involved. Horrible stuff.

*trumpsters. Mine usually auto capitalizes but I always change it to lowercase. They don't deserve that kinda respect

Inappropriate Behavior
The religion of peace and acceptance strikes again. Waiting on all the high and mighty liberals on here blaming Mossad for this.

It's fantastic.

Reading details. And I’m not making excuses for him before someone says something stupid.

But to me, it doesn’t read like the typical jihadi terrorist. Apparently was raised Christian and only converted less than 6 months ago. His life was a mess. Divorce, in massive debts, business doing poorly, house about to be foreclosed, behaving erratically, not allowed to see his kids. Sounds like it was his mental illness that drove him to Islam rather than being a Jihadi in the real sense of it. Weird they are saying he thought about killing his own family bus decided against it.

Should have just offed himself and save us the heartache.
