I’m really only labouring the point because I also think he’s hilarious. I just think his humour doesn’t work when it’s rehearsed/scripted. I mention this in the context of Joe Lycett, who I also find funny so long as he isn’t doing stand up (or - spit - on a panel show)

Massively under appreciated show. It's genius,

Lycett is quite funny and has always been open about his bisexuality.

James Acaster is great and Bob Mortimer is a god.

This latest season is amazing. I’m having to spread the episodes out over as long a period as possible. I just like to know they’re still on the box, ready to watch, when I want to. They’re so precious to me. I’ll be devastated when I’ve watched them all.

It’s a case of Emperor’s new clothes for me with Acaster. I keep hearing how great his standup is supposed to be. And then I watch it.

I saw him in Dublin in the summer and thought he was brilliant. It was filmed too for Netflix.

Well I don’t much like Radiohead but I can’t say they’re not great.

Fair enough that we probably don’t need to qualify everything, but most will write in language that’s expression of self not absolute binary terms.

All good though. I’m probably being a bit precious. Fans of Gervais and Corden feel like the kind of people that have a very narrow lane of what they find funny. It’s not really relevant for me to police how wide someone’s comedy lane should be I guess.

Feels like something he would come up with ironically to poke fun at bigots.
