6th, but wouldn't be surprised if it was lower.

The league table has been very kind to us for a while now. We should be worse off in the table based on analytics.
Looks like we'll be 8th.

And very lucky to finish 8th too. Damning.

I honestly didn't think it would get this bad. I saw Chelsea's matches and thought no way they will finish ahead of us, they were behind with a horrible set of matches. Here we are.

I thought 8th was the bottom but with Brighton doing better recently, an unlikely win against Chelsea away would mean they could beat us to 8th at the death and we could be 9th.

If WHU didn't play City last up, we could have been 10th

7th is the best we're getting from here. And that would probably require at least 7 points from the last 3 games.

If we lose tomorrow, Newcastle can then lose at Old Trafford and still finish ahead of us with a win on the final day.

I think we'll finish at 8th at worst. 8th is likely. 7th is the best possible finish. Both are horrific anyway.

Possibly the only top European club around where the manager still survives the entire season, despite the team producing some of club's worst metrics ever.

I salute the almighty patience.

Not in my wildest dream that after spending 450M we would finish 8th and worst of all the manager survived.

I think even if Spurs finish 8th the manager will be gone. Let alone with no style of play and negative GD.

8-10. Where we deserve to be.
8th. I say that so I don't feel further heartaches when we lose again. This club is sending me into depression.
7th or 8th. We have too many injuries now and not one player in form. After a hammering at the weekend, I don't see where the next points will come from. At least no European football sees these cnuts get a pay cut and stops any mercenary type players coming for cash.
Well done

Kenwood Juicers all round please @bazalini

Well done. Thought the thread was started before the season began, now see it was February after Fulham loss.
We still had a 7 and 9 point advantage over Newcastle and Chelsea at that point. Eventually the points caught up with how bad our performances were.

If our luck had swang the other way we could have easily been in a relegation fight.
Finished 33 points clear of 18th (although the relegated teams were really bad this year compared to most seasons).

Didn't do the treble but we got the miser's double (worst PL finish and negative GD).

Onto more embarrassing records next season if we keep this fraud in charge.

We were 16 points ahead of our xPts of 44 on this. So 28 points if it swang the other way.
I mean it's just stats really. Yes important in modern Football but they don't always tell the full picture of matches and who wins them and who doesn't.

Man. United had a very poor season in the league, worst since the 1980s but will always have enough players in final third who can decide tight games where you're getting dominated with late goals etc. Same for Chelsea up to about March when they were still well clear of 12th-13th despite having long periods of poor form.

Chelsea were basically the opposite of us for most of the season, getting less points than their performances deserved. I remember getting laughed at for saying so and predicting they would finish above us. No surprise they've gone past us in the end.

Was there another thread like this from the start of the season / end of the summer, by any chance?

Went back to 16th April to check I had put 8th. Saying that quite a lot of you have got it correct. Worst season ever. Lets hope second part of my prediction comes true and TH is sacked.

6th or 7th. We're going to drop a lot of points due to our fixture list. We're 4 points behind Spurs when you factor in GD and they have a game in hand. Granted Spurs/Villa could collapse but I don't think we have enough to pass them anyway.

Whereas other teams behind us are picking up momentum and if we go through another bad patch they could conceivably catch us up. I'm thinking we'll break the 20 losses in a season (in all comps).
A little too positive in my league finish but could at least correctly predict the 20 losses. Posted that back in February.

Had us in the 5th to 7th range but ETH did one better so well done.

In another thread I joked (not joked) in Sep that finishing with plus goal difference would be a good season after a shocking start and poor end to the previous season and here we are with a negative GD.

We went something like 12 months before Antony scores against Newport, our attackers had terrible stats. We just don't function as a team and this high transition stuff doesn't yield goals.

Top 5 looking like the ceiling at the moment.

City, Arsenal, Liverpool will finish above us. It'll be two out of us, Newcastle and Spuds.
Seems like I was close but still too optimistic.

Maybe I should refer to this when next time some guy decides to bet his house we'll finish above 6th.

Looks like you were the first to call 8th from what I can tell.

Someone get Zlatan a small kitchen appliance.
On February 26th I posted "6th at the very best, but the way we go from OK to crap in a single match I wont be surprised, or disappointed given how we've been, if we finish 7th or 8th."
