Gaming Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II

Played some of the campaign last night, apparently I'm half way through but feels like it's still in the tutorial stages of the game, it's weird as feck.

Keeps changing characters so what you've learned and the gear you've got changes all the time. Just as you get used to one think, it fecks if off and uses a different thing.

Has it been like this for the last few?

Yeah but that's ok, something new to play and practice before the MP takes over my life :)

I've been hammering the old (2019) MP for the last few weeks and remembered how addictive it is!

Fair do’s. Might pick it up later next week or so.

Don’t know how far you are into the campaign but how does it compare to the previous titles?

I'm still quite early in so it would be silly for me to compare but so far the story seems decent enough and the missions I've done and started have all been good. Movement feels like it's been slowed down a bit to more realistic speeds, I find myself pushing sprint only to realise I'm already sprinting. That's something I'll just get used to so seems silly to moan about it.

Looking forward to loading it up tonight!

Campaign is very enjoyable so far. They've taken the best bits of previous games and only included them (at least where I'm up to at the moment). I much prefer room clearing to wiping out hoards of enemies. The gunship part is great too.

Yes mate, same.
From the last one, a stand out mission was clearing the london flat with night vision. Already done something similar and it's very atmospheric.

Looking forward to picking it up next Friday, it looks great. Beta was fun and I played the Invasion mode a lot.

Lots to unlock for MP via campaign so will be jumping into it first.

Yeah exactly. Only annoying thing is when a lot of the enemies end up armoured. Takes away the satisfying nature of one tapping someone.

You can’t beat a good one tap chap!

I’ve been smashing the 2019 MW this last few weeks and been heavily using the FAL. One tap heaven!

I was certain this game came out in 2016 or something. Is this new?

Shame it’s €70 to buy even on PC. Hard to justify for a CoD game. Saying that, if I line warzone 2 it might be worth it for multiplayer to level up guns.

Warzone is going to be a nightmare without the MP game, I can imagine it taking so long to level guns.

Why is this given the exact same name as the MWII that came out in like 2009? I assumed that meant it was that game remastered which I was so excited for but it isn't is it, like none of the multiplayer maps are the same as from the 'old' MW2? Seems so stupid, am I missing something?

Anyway..

This looks outrageous. Nearly enough to make me turn my PS5 on and buy it this instant.

I actually that was one of the worst looking levels. The rocky (rocks!) desert looks exceptional.

Everything carries over as well now so it will be even worse. Still not paying for it though :D
Oh does it? As in all the skins and shit from warzone?

I got MW free when I bought a graphics card at the time. Never paid for a CoD and I’d feel disgusted forking out that much for one but let’s see I guess. Considering the hours I put into MW and warzone I guess it wouldn’t be so bad.

Same for me. I also enjoyed the references to movies like Sicario and Lone Survivor in some of the missions. That being said...

Laswell mentioned the Russian ultranationalist faction at the very end. I wonder how they will adapt Makarov in this new reality and explain his level of control upon that faction after lurking in the shadows for this long before a new iteration of No Russian will strike.

Yeah, as far as I'm aware everything you earn in MP is reflected in Warzone.

I think the graphics are a bit of a mixed bag to be honest. Some of it looks like ps4 while other bits look incredible.

The gillie suit bit looks wicked with the grass.

Very enjoyable though so far.

Loads of cutscenes by any chance? I lost all interest when they started making games like this..

There are cutscenes but they’re great, almost movie quality. They’re not stupidly intrusive but I think necessary in this type of game to drive / create the narrative enough that you’re not just in random places shooting random enemies.

I think the game would be pretty dull without them.

Between every level. I’d say they’re for the most part just the right length and very well done. A pet peeve for me is not being able to pause a cut scene though. It’s usually the ideal time to pause to do something.

Games didn't used to be dull without them. I find them all completely immersion breaking, regardless of quality. It's not a movie, so why would you want anything that wasn't gameplay?! Honestly, it's one of the main reasons I don't play these games anymore.

To add context to what you’re doing. I agree long and frequent cutscenes are a turn off but these aren’t.

And done right, cutscenes can add immersion, they don’t always break it.

And games are getting more cinematic as consoles get more powerful, it’s inevitable.

I like the graphics but why do they look so grainy?

is it to try and get it as movie like as possible

Played a few bits of BO4 and WW2 with pals, but looking at this being my first COD purchase and play since...MW2 on the 360. No doubt totally shit now (used to hover around 1.7/1.8 ratio back in the day). Looks great, really clean and not too much guff which has put me off more recent titles, that and not having any time.

MW2019 was my first since OG MW2 as well (or maybe one of the Black Ops around that time). You soon get back in to it. Plus lobbies are mached to your skill level anyway.

Just done the mission where you start in the grass with price  loved that mission.
Just finished this mission last night. So good and satisfying. I refused to play on when I fecked up. Wanted to get through the base by sniping everyone

Finished the campaign, think I prefer the story and overall campaign from the first one. Feel like some of it a was just a tutorial for the mechanics that are upcoming in warzone 2/DMZ modes... Some missions were irritating and the
driving one.. violence and timing
was just dull.

Feel like the missions you wanted to go on, ended quick and the ones that it wanted to be done with took ages.

Yeah, I agree with this, especially about being groomed for the upcoming new W/Z. I finished the campaign yesterday and it is quite patchy. The good missions are excellent mind you.

Do we reckon there will be crafting in the new wz?

Not sure how I'd feel about that.

That's one of the worst missions I've ever played in a game. fecking BS. I managed to make it past the mine thing but then didn't make it the extra 5 metres to the checkpoint somehow. 3 fecking times. Felt like smashing my ps5 up. Don't know how they ever think those type of missions are good. Always boring and annoying.

I reckon that's a safe bet and like you, not sure how I feel about that either. Could go either way tbh.

Been looking at some of the environments in the campaign, the sniper / grass level and the desert type levels, I think one of these will form the basis of the new W/Z map (I hope anyway).

How long is the campaign?
