Bundesliga 2018/19

How is our squad depth exposed if there are still players like James, Goretzka, Süle, Gnabry and so on kept on the bench? It's funny to see how 2 or 3 games lead to such huge changes in perception. Where were those claims just 10 days ago?
Dortmund so far had very lucky outcomes in their games while it has been the opposite for us in the recent games but that will change soon enough and as soon as some Bayern players feel the pressure we will start to perform differently, just like last year.

Only because something was true in the past, it does not necessarily mean that it will be true for all future as well.
Bayern squad is old, probably well fed with titles and the hungry players are often injured. Yes, Bayern is still the one to beat, but it would be easier this year than in the past years.
It is also true that Dortmund is not performing amazingly right now and that we are still building a new team, but it is obvious that our gameplay is looking better and better with each game instead of the opposite. So it will be interesting where this is going.

In my humble opinion, it would be good for the Bundesliga if another team could fetch the title from Bayern, wether it would be BVB or Hertha BSC Berlin does not matter. It would at least make our league look like it could be interesting. But we all know that a title contender will be a source of players for Bayern so I hope it won't be Dortmund. And with Bayern being very, very quiet during the transfer time it made me wonder what they are waiting for.
In the next year it will be cool to see what Nagelsmann can do with Leipzig and their money, if BVB can comeback being a top team abd where Schalkes direction will lead.

This year my money is on Bayern as winner of the national titles (because you are right, they will play better if challenged), Hertha being 2nd, BVB being 3rd and somehow Hoffenheim will grab 4th spot.

It appears that the daggers are out at Bayern (yet again).

Bild broke a story that claims several players are upset, James (who made some small waves by leaving the stadium about 10 minutes after the conclusion of the Ajax match) at the forefront, who supposedly said "this ain't Frankfurt!" in the dressing room and then went on about how he wanted to talk to Kovac about leaving.
Several players - they named Süle, Wagner (), Goretzka and Gnabry - are also supposedly upset about how Kovac rotates and distributes play time.
They also claim that Kovac upsets players and assistant coach Peter Hermann (Jupp's former no 2) by talking Croatian with his brother, GK coach and BRAZZO, in the presence of others.
And "many players" are also reportedly criticizing the lack of a clear match plan, especially in attack, as well as the amount of intensity of training - this was also written about Ancelotti btw.

Hoeneß also did his little bit by first saying that Bayern struggled against Ajax in part due to heavy squad rotation and then adding that "that's up to the coach. In the end it's his head on the line".

The circus is back in town.
If I'd be James, I'd be irriated as well....on the other hand Wagner, Goretzka and Gnabry.....those guys should count themselves lucky, that Hoeneß is back; otherwise they wouldn't be anywhere near the club.

Honestly it all seems to go a bit down hill at Bayern since Hoeneß returned and Sammer isn't director of football anymore. Well okay Guardiola not being manager there anymore is certainly something that is felt as well but apart from that their squad building doesn't seem to be as sharp anymore but maybe it's normal for complacency to set in if you dominate your national football for as long as Bayern did and it has nothing to do with Hoeneß.

Werder are top of the table after beating Wolfsburg. Don't think we are gonna see a great battle in the end, but these early months in the Bundesliga are good to see.

Since James made his first start after making a late start he has missed the starting formation as many times as Thiago, Müller and Martinez. He started one CL match - Thiago and Müller started only one either. Müller did not start at the weekend and only came in in the second half when they were already 0:2 down. That he did not start the match against Ajax on the 8 together with Müller and with Thiago alone on the 6 probably was because he lacks the necessary contribution in the match against Hertha.

Ya, if the current Götze starts to score you know things are going your way. :p

Yes, thank god this ugly hacker team is not rewarded for this "performance".

After years of having “Barcelona” fans calling him crap... you can’t make this up

6 goals in 80 minutes for Paco Alcacer in the Bundesliga so far

Favre is top-tier. He surely has to be rated among the top tier of coaches after this game. Thrice they were behind. Thrice they had to come back. He has to be on the radar of top clubs without good managers now.

What a game, madness. Thought that free kick went straight to keeper's hand.

Let's be patient. Favre is certainly a very good coach but he always struggled in Europe with his teams (his stats in europe have been extremely bad in the past) and Favre teams tend to have great stretches but then also very bad ones. At the moment everything is going their way and it will be interesting to see how they handle it once that's not the case. If they can do that then we might have competition for the title.

Dunno what to say really. In terms of performances Augsburg deserved a point at least, they play the pressing game as good as any Bundesliga side, but unlike most smaller teams they also manage to consistently threaten their opponent's goal, I feel that if Baum was a bit younger or had that obsessive geek aura of Tuchel or Nagelsmann he'd get tons of hype. While Dortmund - again - manged to turn things up a couple of notches with their subs - I wonder how long they can keep winning like that).

But in terms of fairness? 20-4 fouls, 6-1 yellow cards - and they were lucky to keep it that "low" given Luthe's time wasting, Max kicking Sancho's leg and Cordova swinging an open sole at head height.

Also a shout-out to the ref team, on one hand he was one of the few who actually punish tactical fouling with yellow cards on the other he (and the VAR) simply missed a lot of stuff, including how Reus was pushed to the ground 2 meters in front of his nose right before Augsburg scored and a (I believe) a foul from Zagadou that should've given Augsburg an early penalty.

They are extremely lucky/effective so far this season, see the 2:2 just now.

That seems to be the case. They have scored 23 goals from only 13.97 xG so far. Probably best not to get carried away.

Also, that Dortmund team has changed a lot. Granted, I don't follow the Bundesliga much these days, but Hakimi, Akanji, Zagadou, Diallo, Larsen, Sancho... who the hell are these people?

This for me is a contradiction as Baum´s system relies a lot on man orientated defending which stands and falls with the contributing of all ten fieldplayers. The problem in this game was, that they should not have finished the game with the full team. You say that the ref punished tactical fouls, but he excluded a certain group of players: the ones who were already on the yellow, namely Gouweleeuw and Caiuby. The former got away with murder even twice. A system that relies on the lenience of the ref to work is not one that should be applauded IMO.

They nearly managed to foul us down to their level, but thankfully we somehow managed to snatch away the win.

The teams he used to have didn't have the depth that Dortmund have. He tends to rotate his teams, and with his past teams lacking depth, I'm not surprised that they've struggled. Marcelino faces a similar challenge with Valencia, and it's their lack of depth that ultimately diminished their title challenge.

With Dortmund, though, that extra depth in their squad is helping him get more results than expected.
