Bundesliga 2016/17

Forgive my ignorance. But they have 1 point and the 2nd worst goal difference in the league. So.... ???

Sometimes having seen the actual games reveals more than results suggest...

Top five... Bayern, Berlin, Hoffenheim, Leipzig, Cologne... that is Bayern and 4 Leicesters...

For starters they had to play Bayern, Berlin, Cologne, Frankfurt, Hoffenheim that's no 1-4 and 6 in the current live table and Gladbach away as the cherry on top not that they are some sort of top team or that it is an excuse for Dortmund's performance, but they aren't as terrible as their position in the table suggests.

But having said all that, if they're as tricky to play against as some are suggesting then surely they'd have done better than just 1 point?

Well it's all relative. They are no world beaters, if that's what you are asking.

I don't get Dortmund at all. Yes they have so many first team players out but that didn't stop them from beating Sporting comfortably. They are always excelling in Europe but messing up their league games.

As others have said, playing against strong opposition, and poor finishing. Do you actually read what others write here? They were he better team against us for 75mins although we were playing at home, and had several big chances to bag the game. They didn't and caught 2 late game goals as punishment.
I'd recommend watching some games rather than just looking at the table.

Just sounded like excuses. :p

I used to follow Ingolstadt last season as I've been following Bauer and Christensen is all and I know they did ok last year on the whole yet have been awful this year (result wise). So just wondered what was up. But i'm being told they've just been unlucky... /shrugs.

Also any of you chaps care to give me an evaluation of Freiburgs young CB Soyuncu?

Don't start. Not in this thread please.

Please refer the threadmark.

Come on, that was in no way meant serious, and I think I made that obvious enough.

ffs it's ITCHING me

I don't think we can deduct any rules or conclusion from all this so far tbh, last season they were consistent in the league and things like today can happen as an isolated thing, too

Well one thing that happened of course was their coach Hasenhüttl leaving to join Leipzig - and I guess Leipzig's performances confirm last season's impressions from Ingolstadt that he's a very good coach.
So that's surely one huge reason why they aren't quite as compact and strong as last season, but a certain nastiness and toughness surely still remains. @Blackwidow described it well. They could have won against us if they had more individual quality up front -they don't.

Gotcha. Meanwhile Dortmund get another back.

What are the odds of it ending 4-3 to Dortmund :p

I don't think Dortmund's problems are easy to explain. Sure, some of it is down to the injuries, players just returning from a spell on the sidelines and players not getting enough breaks/rest, but in a lot of matches this season I had the impression that their approach was to ease into the game and then up the pressure at some point, but they overdid it and gave away too much momentum then again that too might be because they have to be more conservative with their energy because Tuchel can't rotate atm.

That would've been some goal from Passlack :(

They were an absolute nightmare to play against last year under their brilliant manager Hasenhüttl. He took over the team when they were a relegation candidate in the 2nd league and with basically the same squad managed to get promoted to the Bundesliga in no time. Now Hasenhüttl has gone to Leipzig and it's understandable that they'd struggle in their second season in the top flight without him. They nevertheless didn't play horribly and I expect them to stay up quite comfortably. They aren't a great team, but they are tenacious, hard working and disciplined enough to cause problems to any team. They just happened to play against all the in-form teams right off the bat and suffered for it.

Ramos crossing it to Pulisic, something is wrong in that picture

Gotta love Tuchel, his team scores a stoppage time equalizer and he's furious because they take too long celebrating.

4 minutes reserve time were a joke, btw. Ingolstadt had six treatments plus four goals. Have to be content with the draw given how the game went. Too little, though.

It's a shame that during the whole last 20 minutes Ingolstadt refuse to have the balls to play their counters to completion. Who knows they might have closed the deal with a 4-2, they had a number of great counter situation with BVB having dissolved all defensive structure, but they were happy to stop playing and let the fecking ball run out or some shit.
Then this is what happens

Does anyone have a video of Aubameyang's goal? Just interested in seeing Dembele's assist really, I missed it but he's done well centrally with his passing in the second half.

Still 2 pts gone for Dortmund, I take it. Now we can afford our usual embarassment against Gladbach later without too much worrying:D

Against Gladbach? We all know what happens. Neuer gifts them the 0:1 and then we catch the 0:2 somewhen after 75min while trying like morons to equalize.

Yeah, thats not it. This was not a problem of balls but their lungs. They invested all they had in the 70 minutes and barely stayed on their feet the remainder of the game. They payed for their physically extremely demanding playing style, simple as that.

I understand that, but then at the same time BVB played mid week. And most of all, there were counters where 3 players committed to running but the guy having the ball didn't make the final pass.
THAT much effort, to try to get some kind of completed attack, MUST surely still possible - not to mention that situations like that would give a bit momentum to endure the onslaught longer ('Entlastung'), even if they don't get a goal.
I honestly think it's counterproductive to choke one's own counters, no matter how tired, and after all you of all people should know Klopp's mantra of "nobody but ourselves can decide when we are tired" :D

Well, it's Ingolstadt, not some contender for the upper echelons. Stuffing 3 behind Weidenfehler is a valiant effort for such a team. Imagine they would have been that clinical against us:lol:
