Bundesliga 2016/17

Very good first half performance by our bloody young team. Very fluid and diversive play by us. Darmstadt can only help themselves with fouls and have picked up half a dozen yellows already. Should lead by more than a single goal, though.

Bayern struggling a bit vs. Ingolstadt at the same time. Why are you guys using the general Bayern thread for the match discussion, btw? Given that 80% of the Bundesliga related talk on here are either about Munich or Dortmund, it just leaves this thread barren that way. As I often use the cafe on the phone it would be more convinient for me if it is concentrated on a single thread like it used to be the last few years.

See the positives: you don't have to read all the hyperbole and moaning about Bayern just being level after 45mimutes. Sometimes I wonder if some people ever enjoy watching a game:wenger:

But I enjoy the ott reactions of the match day threads :D

As long as you don´t make the mistake of taking anything posted during a game very seriously, they make for a fun read ;)

It's men against boys, only the boys are utterly dominating the men.. :wenger:

What a great past few months it must have been for Guerreiro, first he played his way into Portugal's first team, then he won the Euros and now he looks like Dortmund's best CM(!), in terms of current form at least, despite missing most of the pre season.

I´m this close of building Susi Zorc an altar for finalising the transfer deal of Guerreiro before the EURO, even if it is only because his contributions to the clubs success are massively underrated by many.

3-0 by now by our little American wonderboy,

Well we played more like frightened chickens, no idea what that performance was, completely spineless.

Mor and Dembele are so much fun to watch. They just don't give a shit and keep going for these cocky dribblings. I really hope that Tuchel will preserve that kind of risk taking.

Dortmund have an insanely scary squad. Dembele, Kagawa, Gotze, Barta, Auba on the bench with Reus, Subotic, Shurrle, Bender out injured.

Yes it's looking pretty great in terms of depth and perspective (lots and lots of young players) but you still gotta wonder how much first XI quality they lost in Gündogan, Hummels and Mkhitaryan.

They are really beginning to fizz now. Pulisic, Mor and Dembele are looking great. Will they be able to keep so many stars happy?

There will be unhappy players in the squad (Sahin is my first candidate for that) and some could argue that we have one offensive midfielder too many, but only when all are fit. Today Tuchel shows how you can keep them happy (pretty heavy rotation) and if I look at the match calendar in the next weeks, we will need this kind of squad to compete on all fronts.

Bayern should've had a penalty against them and minutes later they score. Typical:rolleyes:

Ingolstadt really looked good against Bayern. Some other Bundesliga teams *cough*bremen*cough* should take note of how to make the life for Bayern difficult.

P.S. no comment on the Dortmund - Darmstadt game, the worst performance of my home town club that I have seen in a long time.

Dortmund really have a great squad depth though.

Dortmund have a huge amount of players who like to play in attacking midfield: Gotze, Schurrle, Reus, Kagawa, Castro, Dembele, Pulisic, and Mor. Even with heavy rotation and injuries, you'd expect a couple of those to leave at the end of the season.

Not necessarily, Dembele and more are 19 years old, Pulisic only 17. They can afford a learning spell of one or two seasons and I doubt they'd get more play time at a similar/bigger club. Tuchel isn't afraid to drop someone or play a kid either.

Me, too. Rapha is class. Everybody is suprised: Tuchel just builds his own 8 after Gündogans leave. I wanted depth behind Schmelzer, but Ok, if Rapha is our topclass 8, iam fine with it :D.
Great game all in all. Its slowly starting to work. We now proofed that our squad deepness will work, especially againts deep playing oppponents. But we still have to proof if we can handle a strong pressing team, we had our problems against Leipzig.

The only ones in question here are Kagawa and Pulisic. The former could find himself as being just a squad option and push for a move next Summer. The latter could be unwilling to sign a long lasting contract soon (he turns 18 tomorrow) or go on a loan spell to develop further, which would be illadvised in my book, because Pulisic is where he is right now because Tuchel had the balls to trust him at 17 and not push for the (quite a bit more expensive) Dembele deal in the last Winter.

The whole matter is more complex anyway, because Reus first needs to get back on his feet and the club has shown enourmous patience with his healing process and will only play him for us when he is truly ready. Schürrle could be in the long run build up to be Auba´s relief striker on top of his usual position on the left flank. Mor might go on a loan deal after his first season to be a consistent starter elsewhere. Castro is comfortable playing as CM as much as CAM.

Bremen and Damrstadt seem dead certain to get relegated. Jesus, gladbach are steamrolling Bremen.

What happened to our resident Hamburg fan? Don't think I've seen him post in recent weeks?

Eh what do you want me to say? :( I was here after that heartbreaking defeat last week btw. Our team doesn't understand that a game lasts for 90 minutes it seems. And scoring from 8 yards out also is a huge problem for us apparently. I'm really happy about our signings but it's clear that so many young players won't work all at once. With a little bit more efficiency we win the first 3 games, now we look like idiots. The stability we had over the course of last season (never lost by more than 3 goals) is not there yet.
Hoping for a comeback on Tuesday, otherwise the next few weeks won't be pretty.

Bremen 4-0 down at HT

That's the first bundesliga manager sacked, everything else would be ridiculous.

Bremen should have never hold on to Skripnik in the first place. Such a stupid decision.

"Even if we're not winning any of the next 8 games, Viktor Skripnik will be our manager" - Frank Baumann after the 6-0 away defeat against Bayern

Still got some time left :D

Cannot get any enjoyment out of Bremen losing though, we've been way too crap as well.

My bad.

I was actually hoping that you'd build on last season and improve further and I like some of your signings as well. Still don't rate Labbadia at all though, he's the wrong man to turn Hamburg into a consistent upper half side.

Who is the right man though? I'm not his biggest fan either, but he did a very solid job since he arrived in 2015. We've had so many crap managers who were all sacked after a season. I want there to be some consistency now, there's no way that the next guy will be any better than what we have.

Leipzig look like they could be fun.

Really it was a game that had 0-0 written all over it. A questionable penalty was needed for us to totally collapse, the score doesn't reflect the game at all imo. That being said Leipzig is indeed a good side that can cause trouble to most teams in the League. Fast, talented players who are pressing 90 minutes of a game.
For a newly promoted side they have really good squad depth as well, could easily let two of their record signings come off the bench who made the difference in the end.

Leipzig could develop into a formidable side over the next years if they keep up their good work. As much as I abhor RedBull (especially as a Rapid Wien fan) I can't help but acknowledge that they are doing pretty much everything right at the moment.

Chuffed to see Leipzig win again. I don't think they'll continue this sort of form throughout the season but, with Hasenhuttl at the helm, it's going to be an entertaining ride nonetheless.

It's always difficult to tell who fits best, but someone like for example Hasenhüttl at least has the potential to become a quality manager and might be worth the risk. There's almost every year an interesting young upcoming manager in the Bundesliga, who could be worth the risk. I get that you want a bit of stability, but I'm not sure if Labbadia can really offer that. Wouldn't be surprised if the team collapses under him similar to how it happened at all his previous clubs and then you're forced to change the manager again anyway.

I was hoping - for Bremen's and my entertainment's sake - for Gladbach to shaft them. :(

Why did Gladbach get battered so easily against City? They're normally a better side than that.

Raffael is one of my favourite players & Thorgan Hazard has been on fire this season.

Because the rest of the league isn't the quality of the Prem.

Edit: and City worryingly look amazing.
