Free? What's the catch? I bet it won't be free to BT broadband customers who want it through Sky. They will have to subscribe to BT vision first.

If you are only a Bt Broadband customer, you can only watch it on your tablet or computer, If you want to watch it on your tv you have to pay £5 a month (I assume for the minimal vision package?) and a £49 connection fee.

Cheaper than sky? Yes. Free? Of course not, just a clever marketing scheme.

Glad I'm with BT Broadband :D

I have to watch it on my computers? Oh nos! :D

Just signed up to it

£12 a month is a fair price considering I pay £10 a month for ESPN

If you have BT broadband and Sky TV then it's just added on for free, albeit you have to sign for your broadband contract for 12 months again.

I've been meaning to swap to a tv+phone+internet package for a while, but with this I can't be arsed, just gone with the flow.

Whats added on for free? BT Sport? Onto Sky?

Yeah, I've got BT Infinity and Sky television, which means you get it for free (still think they're a bit crazy for deciding to do that). Though the 12 month contract thing confuses me. Is that 12 months on top of your current contract or what? I only started a new contract at the beginning of January, about 18 months or something. So would that put 12 on top of the current remaining contract or what?

Doubt I'll do it if it means starting all new contracts or adding it on to what I already have. I've got about 15 months or whatever remaining, I'm not exactly going anywhere BT!

Yes, if you have the BT broadband that is. You then get BT sports free on Sky television.

Yes. I just ticked a box agreeing to restart my broadband for 12 months and it will be added to Sky when it starts.

Thats crazy, but excellent. But mental. Last I heard you only got it through the internet if you were on BT Broadband alone.

So they are going to take down Sky, by giving the best deal if you have Sky?

It does seem weird, but I think there are competition rules which mean Sky have no choice but to carry competitors, presumable for a fee which BT have decided it's worth paying, out of your payments to them of course.

Strange one really. Guess the idea is to get more people to sign up to their broadband. Like I said, still find it a bit mental, but certainly not complaining!

Good news for VM customers. I hope they put some sort of sport package together. Rather than buying Sky Sports and BT separately, which I'd imagine would cost around £45 per-month with HD enabled. Shockingly expensive.

Same, my Sky Broadband contract ends in July, if this is accurate I know who I'll be moving to.

Sky broadband itself as far superior to BT's. BT are ok at best, but if getting BTSport for free as a makeshift reward for BT broadband being iffy, then switch away.

I'm currently trying to see out my contract with BT so I can go elsewhere. Even with this new fibre-optic, it's still so unreliable, and it has been this way at 3 different addresses now.

I'd rather pay for a better broadband and pay extra for BTsport, personally, which I will be doing when my BT contract is up

Terrific. We can't get any good broadband from BT at my parents' house or my uni one, despite people down the road at uni getting infinity, which is annoying.

Be great if they do it like they did with ESPN; they'd no doubt attract new customers.

Anyone have any real idea on the costs atm? I've been looking but seems actually getting it costs 30 quid a month plus

Im pretty sure you can just subscribe to BT Sport through Sky for £15 a month

Well they certainly have better games than the likes of Setanta/ESPN who have rivalled Sky in the past. Pretty frustrating as a Sky subscriber.

BT have already made their first blunder

Sky's picks blows BT's out the water!

I'm in Ireland and have now subscribed. I get all the BT stations and setanta sports which includes Saturday 3pm games for €20 per month. First 2 months half price.

On top of sky I pay a lot. Especially seeing as I got ESPN for free. But it had to be done.

So it's €20 extra a month for Setanta, both BT Sports channels and ESPN? Combine that with Sky and you're getting 4 or 5 Premier League games a week plus all the other stuff.

Tempting.

Annoying more like, but for me impossible to resist.

I only had setanta online due to an eircom contract previously, so it will be nice not having to rely on that anymore.

I'll be honest I was in a similar position a few months back where I was appalled with BTs broadband, at best I was getting speeds of 3mb even though I was paying for much more. I too was all set to move then I then moved over to the infinity 2 package and I have to admit I am sold. The router it comes with is pretty spot on to (I usually hate routers that come with BB but this one isn't half bad and will at least cover me until I find a new router if not a bit longer) and I average speeds of 50mb (19mb upload). Adding BTsport into the mix for a few extra games a weekend just makes it a better deal.

Still each to their own...

Not really.

BT has a certain number of first choice games they can choose.

Sky have decided to use a lot of their larger quantity of first choice picks to buy a lot of games early in the season, BT will therefore get more interesting games as the season goes on.

Yeah, BT will most likely have the BT title deciding games.

I imagine Sky are trying to dissuade people considering whether or not it's worth getting both. If you're trying to justify it to yourself and it turns out that BT don't have any games you're interested in for months and months, you might just not bother.

Well I dont think BT had much choice in the matter, SKY have deliberately tried to block them off from building up viewers.

Its pretty much the same as paying for espn on top of sky sports like I did last season but with hopefully more games and better coverage plus they have taken the ufc off espn as well
12 a month in hd seems like good value

Virgin Media prices still not out yet.

I've had ESPN for free for the last 5 years or however long it's been so if they take away the free Premier League football from the XL package there is no incentive to stay with them. Used to have the full sky sports package but got rid as I ended up at most home league games last season and quite a few of our away games end up on ESPN.

Not a chance it'll be included for free for XL customers mate. I'll stay with Virgin but just get rid of XL and drop to an M package. I'll spend what I save on BT Sport. Will still be cheaper than Sky.

Ill be fecked if Im paying another £15 p/m on top of a full Sky subscription to watch a few extra games. Cheeky feckers.

Can the BT games be streamed over BT Wifi hotspots?

It's still not confirmed to be on Virgin Media, I won't be paying for it as all games are Saturday lunchtimes so will miss half of them when I go to the Amex, can watch in the concourse anyway. For any united games ill just go down the pub, think its just palace and spurs games at the moment

The channel goes live tonight at 6 pm.
They have the Man City vs Bayern game on ay 7 so it should be a nice preview of things to come.
