Bryan Robson

Its clearly a big difference.
Its the impossible debate really. I think Robbo was a better player on every level and if he had of played in the glory years that Keane did more people would be aware of just how complete a player he was and just how good he was. However thats my opinion and there will be a lot of people who think I am bonkers for thinking Robbo was better.
Its simply a no brainer to me.

Probably a lot are like me, who while recognising Robson as a legendary player, just missed out on his days.
I'm 34, so although I started support in 1990, I was only 8/9, so only really had a clue what was going on by about 93/94 his last season. And obviously by then he was a fringe player on his way out.

Similarly I obviously did see Keane in his best years, so find it hard to believe someone could be that much better.

Because Keano dominating a combo of Zidane and Davids is up there.

I first saw Utd in 67, Best was my Hero as was Martin Buchan. Robbo wasnt one of my hero's but was one of the best I ever saw play.

Was worried when I saw this thread. Thought something happened to him.

Never saw him play live. Seen videos, heard stories. Absolute legend.

Robbo was never a saint. He was certainly part of the drinking club that Fergie banned. He could also dish out punishment when he felt aggrieved. I don't believe he would betray the club or other players, he had too much class to be a bottom feeder.

Exactly. I always found it interesting that people compare Keane and Robbo. Having watched both for the whole of their careers I would say they both had the same leadership qualities, but I think Robbo was the one who could grab a control of a game when the going got tough, dished it out with some fairly aggressive midfielders (e.g. Souness), and got injured through purely being fearless. If he did not drink so much I wonder what level he would have reached. As for Keane everyone will remember the tunnel battle with Viera, Turin in 99 and the retribution against some guy nobody really heard of. I think we should be grateful that we have had 2 players that could have walked into any team in their prime.

Does seeing who she ended up with make you feel bad about yourself?

It would, if that was her...

Robbo's the best United player I've seen.
It becomes so difficult to compare players from different eras and in different position but on reading that I know exactly what you mean - there was just something about him.
If I was to pick a best united XI I have seen in my time watching them (and yes I never saw best, edwards, charlton or law) but the very first name on my team sheet would be robson - ahead of schmeichel, ronaldo or anybody else.
