Bruno Fernandes | United not interested due to doubts over passing ability

He's the one who broke Daniel James and AWB's signings, and even posted the exact time that the club will announce the signings on social media platforms. Pretty reliable this transfer window.
Tell me his surname.

If the only current legit Utd ITK is saying it, then I’ll believe it. He doesn’t come cross as someone who’d do it for personal gain. He probably seems like a guy who has a legit link and probably willing to share it with Utd fans, amongst the press being formally briefed, guesswork and fence sitting and no one really knowing what’s happening.

He's scored/assisted 86 goals in the last two seasons. About the same as Herrera's managed in his entire professional career.

Would be amazed if Herrera has come anywhere near that for goals and assists even in his whole career!

He gives me Kagawa/Mikhitaryan vibes.:nervous:

Yes the club has had some mixed results with number 10s it has to be said, even Mata has never been anywhere near his Chelsea best. I've never seen Bruno play so can't comment but i've heard he likes to press and get the odd tackle in, which i was pleased to read. That's more than Mkhitaryan can do for a start right ?

He's not even same kind of player. He's not an Herrera replacement. He's the Pogba replacement and has been all along.

And he's a leader and well capable of dropping deeper if necessary. For me the only question is whether he'd adapt to having less time on the ball and getting clattered a lot but I think he can do it. £70m is probably a bit OTT but I'd be happier paying it for him than for Maguire tbh.

His deeper role is quite exaggerated and average at best. He is at his best in a Rooney role. Not in midfield.

Except he keeps possession much better than Rooney from deep so it's not really the same is it.

Whats happening on this front?
I may be wrong but this whole story seems like it's completely made up.

I think it 100% is agent driven nonsense.

I was thinking the same with Bruno the other day.
If Lukaku does leave and we don't pull in a natural striker (doesn't seem to be any top players available), having Bruno play the Firminho role could be interesting.
I think the biggest problem would needing our full backs to act as wingers when we go forward.

The only ITK anyone seems to trust stated today that the interest here is real. I know ITKs are not proof but this guy does not post much but he was right with some details of the James and AWB signings ahead of them being confirmed and he does not jump on the bandwagon with most of the muppet stuff, shooting down the de Ligt stories etc. When he has said something is happening he has not yet been wrong and he stated today that of the multiple players we are linked to the two that are actually actively being negotiated at this point are Fernandes and Maguire with Fernandes closest to a conclusion. I think this is a deal that gets done and probably within the week.

Who is this ITK please or must the identity stay secret?

xiSimon off Reddit, now on Twitter. To be fair, he's the only half-decent ITK. Still wouldn't treat his word as gospel or anything like that.

Good news, if it's true.

Thanks for that.
Do we need such a player
We have Mata, Lingard and upcoming Angel who all play that position. would you say he so much better than these?

You are joking right? Predominantly being chucked out of position on the right flank hasn’t done them any favours but we’ve seen enough to know neither are the answer there.

He's been good for the last two summers. Like somebody else said, he doesn't jump on the bandwagon or give constant updates. He said he just tells things as he hears them, so sometime it's already been reported widely. I trust him for now. No way he guesses these things that he's got right.

That could be right. My point was about his position though. If he is coming for 50+ to play a deeper role, then it would be a disaster

Glorified version of Mkhitaryan, doesn't use his body well to shield the ball, he will be found out at this club when we play a Brighton, Watford, Newcastle under an extreme press, with the lack of adequate coaching to play out the midfield under pressure he'll look like a fish out of water.

Got absolutely no confidence in Solskjaer or our useless management whatsoever. Why are we prioritising a player who is active primarily in the final third ? For ten years we have struggled to find a number 6 who can link the midfield to the attack / distributing the ball effectively. You know next season is a blowout when considering our current ridiculous unbalanced midfield, we are targeting Fernandes over the likes of Tielemans who's also proven in the domestic league and fits the profile of what we have needed in the midfield essentially since Scholes / Carrick retired.

Not sure about that. Tielemans got 3 goals and 6 assists in half a season which looks good but those assists had Vardy on the end of them. If it had been our lot he would have been lucky to see 2 of those chances converted but he had the good fortune to be playing with a world class finisher for a few months. I have not seen a ton of Tielemans but I saw a few of his games for Leicester and outside of his eye for a through ball I can't say I was blown away. The potential might be there but in his career he has failed more than he has succeeded and when all is said and done we are making guesses based off an incomplete picture of what Solskjaer wants. We might see 2 or 3 midfield signings yet, particularly with Pogba leaving and so how any individual signing is going to fit into the whole is guesswork right now.

I have never seen a poster's name and his post resonate so much before.

Our midfield is in shambles and will be worse once Pogba leaves. We need a DM, a b2b and an attacking minded midfielder. No player can cover the 3 roles at the same time

Agree with you that e need 3 midfielders if Pogba leaves. Can't see Woody sanctioning that. Although am really hoping that he does. Would rather have got the players in sooner but there is still a while left in the window so I'm hoping Woody has something special planned, although I am doubtful as he doesn't give me much faith. Am also hoping he fully reinvests Pogba fee back in transfers which I can't see him doing either.

He doesn't look great in that video. Lots of low percentage turns and unnecessary touches. In the Premier League, he'd be knocked off balance every single time he tried it. Reminds me of Kagawa pre-United in that sense.

I hope he has more strings to his bow than just that. Constant Cruyff turns will only get you so far.

If you are talking about the Barca game, I heavily disagree.

He's a weird one. I don't get him at all. He plays like a striker but he is supposed to be a midfielder? He is all about the assists and goals. If he can get anywhere near his numbers in Portugal he would be a class signing but every other aspect of being a midfielder seems lacking to me - defensive, passing etc I guess hes a number 10 but still he plays like a number 9 although more assists than a number 9 normally would get. Maybe what a slower Rashford in midfield in Portugal would look like.

Thought he looked great in that Barca game clip - quick passing that keeps the move flowing, great skills to turn out of trouble (especially that one where he does Rakitic all ends up) and always looking to get a shot away. Those are all things we sorely miss in our midfield.

Could play for them TBH!

The least I say about Woodward the better. We lost 2 internationals (herrera and Fellaini) and Matic is 1 year older. If Pogba leaves then we're talking of 4 players here. Assuming Mctominay can step up we can get away with 3 (DM, b2b and AMC)
