Bruno Fernandes | United not interested due to doubts over passing ability

I get a lot of Mhikitaryan vibes from this guy. The club probably feels the same way which is why he was never a target. Id rather we go for longstaff within the next 3 days.

So you'd rather go for Sean Longstaff, who has a total of 9 first team appearances over an experienced, proven creative midfielder who scored 20 goals and registered 13 assists in his league last season - in order to fix our extremely weak midfield which is lacking goals and assists?

Now I'm not saying Bruno is guaranteed to fix our midfield, as obviously he could flop - but this is a bit ridiculous.

We need bodies in midfield. Surely someone has to be bought in to replace Herrera and the rapidly declining Matic? If not Bruno, someone else.

We have Fred, McTominay, pogba, Garner, woody doesn’t think we need more

I would love this guy here, but if I had to choose only one more signing I would prefer a mobile destroyer CDM to replace Matic, freeing up Pogba and one of our other attacking mids (Mata, Lingard, Gomes) to play with more attacking freedom. That being said, it doesn't look like we have plans to bring in a CDM this window.

And yet still not enough to be a target by Ole. Ive watched numerous clips from him and the only thing that really impresses me is his set piece delivery. He seems like an erratic player who tries unrealistic things on a whim. This often leads to us given the ball away. We already have enough of those type of players here who dont value possession. What we need is an enforcer in midfielder that can control tempo and not give the ball away necessarily. Im sorry but i just can't envision a midfield of pogba, bruno and matic. Pogba loses the ball alot but is our creator. We dont need a second one like bruno. I didn't include mctominay because he still hasn't recorded a full season as a first team player. Till then lets not judge him to much off preseason.

In a pretty weak league though. We all saw how rubbish Memphis turned out to be. PL defenders absolutely toyed with him. Fernandes looks alright. I think many are desperate just for us to sign a midfielder. I don't see the close control and natural talent of a top player from the clips I see. But God knows maybe his passing is excellent given poeple rave about it here. But he didn't look an exceptional player from the little I saw.

On the other hand for a lesser known player, Longstaff looked very interesting.

I mean it's hardly as though he's being compared with a Pogba or Eriskon. Fernandes is a risk as well.

Are you trying to say Longstaff is a enforcer? He too hasn't had a full season yet.

I think it comes down to his valuation, I have watched him a few times now and he isn't anything special but he is a very good player. If he could be bought for around 35-45 million he would be a great purchase but these 55-60 million figures are ridiculous. Having said that though, I still want him because I don't give a sh*t how much we pay.

He really isnt. Ive watched enough clips and followed all his touches in preseason. He is an okay player who Sporting are trying to sell to a desperate club. This is how we get another fred situation. I would have been okay with him if Pogba wasn't here but thats not the case. Both him and Pogba lose the ball a lot which isn't okay when we have matic sitting deep.

he too is a big risk but i like what Ive seen and he also plays a lot DEEPER. We need someone sitting behind pogba that works their ass off. On whoscored.com it suggests longstaff likes to tackle and run. That would be a better replacement for Herrera. I could see a future of Pogba in an advanced role with Mctominay as a B2b and longstaff sitting deep as the DM.

Well he has not had a full season in the Premiership but he did play a full season on loan in League One with Blackpool where even from a deep lying position he managed to add 8 goals in 42 appearances. That is why he was brought into the first team squad for last season at Newcastle and had injury not cut his campaign short he would have made a lot more than 9 appearances and the game time he did get suggested the leap from League One to the Premiership was not troubling him. He certainly looks to be very strong in the tackle with good mobility and a lot of desire, I would take him over Matic in a heartbeat and I certainly see the role he plays as being a bigger need for us right now.

Pretty sure I’ve seen Scott McTominay starting at OT the last 2 seasons and was one of our best players vs Barcelona and the scousers this season past, top player and better than Matic

That’s 10/1 on him not to sign elsewhere, i.e. stay at Sporting. I’ve no idea what is happening with this one.

Yes that’s what I said for him not to sign for another club in to 5/4 now.

Cracker bet if anyone done it

Yeah I agree with a lot of your points as well. I'm not necessarily team Bruno either as to be honest, I've watched him play only a handful of times. But the Longstaff brigade is what annoys me a little. There's no one less proven, and with as big of an inflated price tag that him at the moment. If we're taking a risk on an unproven English player we may as well look to bringing through one of our own.

Eriksen on the other hand is a world class player on the back of an underwhelming season by his standards (but still had 8goals 12 assists in the prem). And he is being quoted at the same price as Longstaff. We honestly can't keep getting mugged off for young English players simply because they are English.

Just my opinion anyway!

Goddamn I hate football fans when they continually harass these media guys for their transfer muppet fix. It’s like the fecking 5 year old who keeps yelling ‘Are we there yet?’ when you take them somewhere.

I don't blame him at all. Football fans on social media are the absolute worst.

Completely agree. He basically can’t tweet anything at the minute without United fans harassing him. Then think how bad that will be for the actual players. No wonder Dybala didn’t want to sign if he thought that’s what the fan base was.

Right, you think Madrid will sell their player to United for only 36 mil pounds when they want Pogba or even without pogba.

Based on their offer, they either value pogba at only 63 mil (36 mil pounds for James + 27) or they Value James at over 80 mil (to meet our 100+ mil valuation for pogba).

In any case, have no Idea why you think they'd sell him for 36 mil pounds to United.

I never said Madrid would sell him for 36. I said I would rather see James coming for the reported 40. That's the number that floated around and ofcourse it could be that Madrid will add a premium if we would actually come to buy him. I doubt that they would ask over 80 as they will never offload him for that amount. No club will pay that after Bayern could buy him for 40.

Besides that, reportedly it's Madrid that want him off their books, so it would be in their interest to have us bid and get other possible clubs knocking on their door as well.

They can act like a stubborn child and rule us out, or they can be sensible and run their clubs as a business as they always do.

The poor guy is staying where he is, isn't he? Nobody wants him, at least for this year. Good news for the resident Sporting fans though

The moment of truth is coming soon on this transfer...fingers crossed it happens, and its not just Gaitan 2.0

I'm surprised by the criticism of Fernandes on here. Is he technically the most exquisite? Perhaps not but he's damn effective. He scores a lot of goals, works his socks off and is a warrior. He's tailor made for the Prem IMHO. Unlike Dybala who is sublime on the ball but inconsistent and I'm unconvinced on his attitude or desire. There's a reason one of these players is improving dramatically and the other is stalling at a similar age.

Having said that, I agree we probably need a deeper midfielder (i.e. Longstaff, Partey, Sankhare etc.) and a target man type (Mandzukic now Haller's at West Ham) to balance out our squad better. Gomes and Greenwood have such high potential that maybe they need a clearer pathway, plus we have similar players to them in Mata/Lingard/Pereira and Rashford/Martial respectively.

For me, we should sign Longstaff even if it's £50m if we've decided he's going to be good enough. Inflated price? Of course but he's English and might cost double that soon. We should also get Mandzukic for a year or two because our strikers are all better facing goal than holding the ball up. Then try to ship out the likes of Fred and Matic and, of course, Lukaku. Next season we can go all in on Sancho and Chilwell if Martial and Shaw still don't look like fulfilling their potential.

Oh noes, United fans exposed Di Marzio and his crew and burned them as transfer source. Wish they would come out and state how from now on they wont answer on anything related to United, nor will give updates, ciao.

So disappointing if this doesnt happen. The only way I'd be happy with this is if we give Greenwood and Gomes a run in the team regularly. It'd be something to get excited about again. I love mata - but hes too slow to play with Pogba and Matic. Give the kids a run out.

Herrera was let leave because McTominay came through last season. We dont need to replace him twice.

Not that my opinion matters but I've seen Fernandes 9 or 10 times and once I have thought he is decent. I honestly don't think he would bring anything to United that the likes of Mata Fred etc already bring ( or don't bring )

Amoyal is getting sick of being asked about Bruno

Should probably not make a post on their website saying it’s nearly done then. They’ve obviously been tricked by somebody, or just fancied a quick revenue boost by united fans.

I remember when people lost their minds over Pedro after he had 2/3 great games. Some perspective should be retained. While he would be good to have, it is not the end of the world provided Pogba stays.

Grown men are now fully in touch with their feelings. Like women.

I prefer it to the hormonal rage so many young men succumb to when they start wanting to hurt and punch everything.

“Pogba the gunman” the majority of our fan base on Twitter are idiotic teenagers surely?

Plus he took Verratis pants off in the 2nd leg vs PSG. Never seen anyone embarrass Verrati like that before. He's got balls. Showed up in some big games. He's ready for Ole to invest in.
