Bruno Fernandes | United not interested due to doubts over passing ability

I hope Eriksen doesn't leave.... He will only leave for Real and Real seems to have distanced themselves from Pogba and Eriksen and gone for Van de Beek instead.

Dybala plays off the main striker in his best position, so does Bruno, look at the Sporting fan's post below, his success is as a #10, if we sign him it'll be to play in the hole behind either Martial or Rashford, same as Dybala. People thinking he can play where Pogba has been playing alongside McTominay are wrong.
The difference is that Dybala can play up top and from the right. Admittedly I think Dybala's best position is as a supporting striker but don't necessarily think it means they're fallbacks of each other

Yes in his first season at Sporting under coach Jorge Jesus we played a 4-1-2-1-2 formation with Bruno at the point of the diamond (#10) and William Carvalho as our loan DM.

He got 16 goals and 16 assists that season.

I meant like in 442, not a diamond.

I met a die hard Porto supporting taxi driver today. I asked him about his opinion of Bruno Fernandes, he said that he is the real deal, and was hoping that United will buy him.

He mentioned his accurate passing, long shots and ability to play as both a #8 or #10.

He also told me that Joao Felix was overrated (but very good at getting penalties), and that United should had bought Militao.

He also really rated Lindelöf from his time in Benfica, and was surprised to see him have a slow start in England.

When Dybala plays up top it's as a false 9, I can see him playing that role in bigger games where we use an extra CM, but off the right would be a waste of him, I just don't see him and Bruno as compatible in the same team if you want to get the best out of both, what we should be doing is getting a mobile DM if Pogba is going to be used in a 2, as that's a disaster waiting to happen IMO.

Rumours seem to keep popping up but cant see how we'd fit both he and Dybala in our team, assuming we continue with Ole's favoured 4231.

I tend to agree with you. And I think we will definitely use Dybala as a false 9 if he arrives but I also think we might play him from the right if we also sign Bruno and let the front free interchange. But overall I agree with you. I wouldn't be surprised if it's one or the other though. It would definitely make more sense to bring in a DM, instead of Dybala + Bruno

Sadly we don't even seem to be looking at a DM, just this weird Longstaff stuff. My guess is Maguire and either Dybala or Bruno will be the last of our business this window, possibly the Manduzcik deal as well, but nothing in midfield.

Bruno is better player than Dybala in terms of tactical flexibility. Most of our games will be against weaker opposition where he’d occupy 10.

In a bigger games he can be 8, he has good work rate and some defensive ability for that. Then Dybala can play false 9 as OGS mentioned in his podcast interview.

In 4-2-3-1, it’s hard to fit Dybala. Bruno and Pogba as double pivot is too risky. No way.

Scenario 1. Primary target was Bruno, we are still fighting over his price. Suddenly, Dybala option materialized as a result of Juventus strong interest in Lukaku. We are eager to get rid of the Belgian, Juve doesn’t have money. So, both Ole and Ed decided to have a look...and we see what’s happening. Dybala is in doubts, but Juve wants Lukaku so badly that they just decided to kick out poor Paulo. United is working on both deals, but Dybala is more likely. So, we get our number 10 in Dybala. I don’t like this scenario because Bruno suits Ole better. But he will kinda settle for Dybala.

Scenario 2. We are in for both Of them. Then our transfer expenses are going to reach 250 million! Bruno is no less than 60, and Lukaku has at least 50 value. Also, we face the problem of playing them together. Highly unlikely.

I absolute love Nani. Sporting legend and his bit of talking about how the cancers inside the club who run it are the reason we are the absolute joke we are just confirms what every knowledgeable Sporting fan knew already.

Also love how he said playing for Sporting and trying to resurrect them would be like his champions league. (When talking about about Porto’s offer and the chance to play the CL with them.)

Absolute hero I have his jersey signed on my wall:D

I love Nani too. Are you following his career in the MLS? Hope he’s doing really well there. I saw a very recent clip of him participating an MLS all stars event. He won the event for his team with the last kick of it. Worth a watch on youtube if you haven’t mate

Ya I follow the MLS and was at Red Bull Arena when he went there with Orlando and he came to the section with all the Sporting fans signing shirts and giving his jersey and sweat suit!

He started the season slowly but really picked it up and has easily been there best player.

Sporting’s donkey of a president ran him out of the club and got rid of the only player in that locker room that lived and breathed Sporting. I really wanted to see him retire here and he was having a good season for us too. Legend.

Bruno as the 10, Dybala as the CF, Mctominay and Pogba in CM, Rashford and Martial as wide forwards. In games we switch it up and play 433, Fernandes and Pogba in CM with Mctominay and Rashford, James and Martial as our front three.

Well I mean obviously I don’t think he can score 34 goal in the EPL it’s a harder league but I still think he can be an able scorer there.

It also depends on what players the club has in midfield etc. I see him as a better #10 but I think he can be an able player at 8 because of his passing like you said and his willingness to track back and press.

Looking at this, without actually watching him I would easily say he's an 8.

I know that’s where you guys got the misinformation of him being an 8 without actually watching him. Like I have said before he is an engine and he willingly tracks back to cover players and press on the defensive end. The Liverpool game was a perfect example of this where he was our most creative player and always in and around the final third but also making last ditch tackles in the box.

As I said above don’t let his tracking back fool you which is why that heat map does not mean much in terms of where his position is. I have watched him over 100 games he is a #10.

EDIT: Saying that though I can easily see him adapted to playing at #8.

You’re arguing with a guy who watches him week in week out. I think he would know a little better in this matter.

I'm not arguing with him, I'm telling him that it is easy to make that mistake if you don't watch him play. It's like right in the post.
No trust me I know. I said it above without actually watching him it is easy to make that assumption because of his defensive tenacity.
