I get that selling your player few days before the big derby looks bad, but surely selling him a few days after a potential loss in that derby looks way worse?

United and Fernandes should do everything to stop him playing that match. It's absurd to risk it. Say he gets injured? The deal will fall through.

This thread is like drunk sex. Current stage is when you are tired, having no fun, and start to get nervous if you ever will come.

The portugese league are going to have their highest viewing numbers in years tomorrow night. Tons of United fans tuning in hoping he doesn't pick up an injury.

This is more likely to happen than to not happen. But not odd 1/20 likely. Transfer odds are always far from real probability. But i believe this will happen. And he will be good signing.

If that is indeed the case, then I'm dreading the "I'm so drunk that I can't tell if I peed or ejaculated inside her" stage.

It's gonna get messy around here.

Not really. Would be bad to sell him right after a loss but it's a lot worse to sell him before the game, the fans would riot against the management if that happened given the current environment at the club.

Will be fun to have the caf watch tomorrow's game, it's going to be a great atmosphere and it should be a good level of football if the ref manages to keep things under control.

Looked at the table and Sporting are 16 points off Benefica (which is in 1st place). I guess it's all about the rivalry?

Pretty much, bragging rights and trying to stop them from winning the league. Porto are 4 points off them and get to play Benfica at home in a couple of weeks so it's a chance to get a title race going.

It's like United-Liverpool earlier in the season. Being a lot of points apart doesn't stop it from being a big game.

Wan-Bissaka and Maguire transfers were quite public and drawn out, just like this one. Wonder is there a reason for that.

Wasn't really bullish on him in the summer but I have a feeling he will eventually be a revelation to the squad. However, I think he will need time adjusting to the PL.

Ole will be watching that match on Friday night in a state of what Fergie called "squeaky bum time"

Let me imagine the scenario :

Sporting : We want 60m.

Woodward: No way in hell we pay this, only 40 or 50m.

Also Woodward when Jan 31th come : Goddamnit here take 80m and give us the player few hours before the window closes.

Jan 31th?
He is in another planet sometimes it seems.

I'm not sure you've really been following this if you think we only opened negotiations today.

It was just a exaggerated comment, the point being, this should have been done and dusted pre January 16 and beyond.

I have a feeling he could be our ‘Cantona catalyst’ for this young team!

I pray this doesn't end up being a Wesley Snejder type of thread! We need Fernandes! (I've never seen him play)

Find it hard to believe that we're ok with allowing him play if a deal is close, I think it's noise coming from Portugal again.
