Bruno Fernandes | Signed

Sky saying we're only willing to offer 42million for him. If true no wonder they told us to get stuffed.

Is this the same Sky who last week said we were on the verge of buying him?
If so then totally believable.

Because of some player no one else wants who is massively overpriced? Are you serious?

There are many reasons to want him out, this isn’t one of them, we clearly don’t want him, it’s like settling for a partner.
If we clearly don't want him, why haven't we moved on to another player?

We only sign white players. Like Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Fred, Bailly, Martial etc.

(I literally have no idea what he's going on about).

Nor have I, man. Just bizarre, really. A newbie was banned last night for essentially wishing Ole’s entire bloodline had been wiped out. Now this chap has these baseless points regarding skin colour, when deciding which players to sign. Place is falling apart.

We need Bruno now more than ever. The very fate of the caf rests on it!

Because there isn’t anyone available we want now, and/or buying a player for a lot of money now compromises our ability to pay for a player we really want in the summer.

The problem is that we are a club that is desperate for quality and we have money and we approach transfers like a shotgun scatter blast. Throw out a bunch of names and try to land one. The only way to stop the cycle is to recruit correctly and be decisive, be a sniper riffle 1 shot = 1 kill. If Ole and our scouts believe that a particular player is "the right player". then we need to pay whatever it takes to get that player right then and there. Not haggle until he goes elsewhere and then we are stuck overpaying for our 2nd and 3rd options, and paying a salary they aren't worth - right now we have a bunch of 2nd and 3rd options on 1st choice money. When you have a team full of the right players you are no longer a "desperate club" that has to pay over the odds. The right players means success and successful clubs arent desperate

I agree, but we should be identifying several targets who fit the bill, or at least pretending to. We’ve been quite obviously pinning all our hopes on a single player at a time, so of course they’re going to have us over.

Never mind team cohesion, it’s caf cohesion we need right now.

United need this guy more than he needs them and sporting know it because United have hamfistedly shown every second that he’s the only player they’re even thinking about. Honestly, what do United’s scouts even do? Every linked player is massively famous or their agent is drumming up business. Can you imagine Woodward on the pull. Ridiculous.

It is inconceivable that one of the richest clubs in the world is squabbling over 10million for a player that we desperately need. I actually cannot get my head around the abject incompetence of Ed Woodward and his inability to do his job.

I don't understand this. Do we not have any other options but this guy? Surely they should have moved on a while back once they realised Sporting wanted toppled hard ball? Just say, we are not going to meet you're asking price, so thank you and good luck. Why do we hang around like a bad smell wasting time 'negotiating' a lost cause? (sigh)

Also, what do the scouts do? It seems a bit lazy to me we rejected him in the summer for lack of skill in some area or the other (I forget what), and now we're going back in for him? Did he suddenly eliminate the supposed fault he had?

Ed just needs to get the best he can out there to be in charge of scouting and recruitment. Why are they being stubborn about this is beyond my comprehension.

Did you even read the report?Joel Glazer supposedly scuppered the deal not Woodward.

The midfield was shite before the injuries and now were utterly desperate. There's got to be a plan b, right?

So Woodward is blameless when it comes to discussing why we have a paper thin squad and have allowed several players to leave on loan?

I should have made it clear I was not talking exclusively about the Fernandes deal.

We'll get him on deadline day, it's obvious. Sporting need to sell, and they'l cave for a price thats mutually better.

Sporting need to sell, Utd know this. Utd need to buy, Sporting know this. The issue that seems to be holding up depending on what you read is that Mendes is due a fee even though he's not involved in this deal. Sporting want to recoup that fee from Utd, utd don't want to pay and nor they should. This is why the price went up. Re other options, it's Jan, clubs don't want to sell. To be honest I think this lad is our option, I don't think he is/was 1st choice. I think our lack of cover in mid if forcing our hand here. If we had come into Jan on a good run, I think we would have held of until summer and went for Maddison or Grealish. I feel a deal if done in Jan will go right to the wire.

I didn't say Woodward is blameless.

Why? Vindictiveness.
Yeah cos that’s how they operate!!!

Come on, it was about SPs valuation over ours. I’ve heard a few from 55-68. We have offered 42. To be honest he’s only worth in the region of 40-42. Paying what they want would be financial madness.

Ok.

Reluctant to cut the club any slack when it was so obvious we needed at least one new midfielder in the summer (sigh).

Tevez?! What's this about? The guy retired right?

Tevez: Italian outlet wins award for most farcical transfer story
Italian outlet Tuttosport is ludicrously claiming United are considering a potential loan move for one Carlos Alberto Martinez Tevez, the former United and City striker who has not even been making it into the Boca Juniors squad of late.

It goes without saying that this is a load of rubbish.
